Capital Ships out of highsec troll.
I think this deserves the first 10/10.
The old boys club are practically foaming at the mouth. Sure it may get reversed if the old boyz club and their friends in CSM emorage hard enough.
But for the first time in months I'm getting the will to go get some popcorn out while reading the forums.
Sure I can see the sentimentality of it, I suppose maybe it is sad in a way, but I can see why and where they are going with it if it's all going as planned.
What sort of surprises me is the outpouring of wailing could never rationalise an eve based balance argument over this, or anything else as such, but because they and their friends want it, it has to happen.
I've always tended to be more anti-carebear but the apparent single mindedness of the local eve old boys club on what they want because that's how it should be etc... more then stinks of a little hippocrisy I think.
As things stand at the moment, I look forward to some more I quit threads.
The "Oh so you can't fix x. but you have time to do small unimportant y"
Say's if it's such a small and inconsequential change, why do this?
Why try as hard as you can to pander to your dev friend connections when in any other form in the game it's called CCP cheating?
While I'm told I should have sympathy for Chribba, why should I? He's more then reaped the benefits of his large ego trip and laughed all the way to the bank riding on the back for years of what has been and was always was an exploit. His status in the eve community isn't going to change at all.
I mean I've feel a lot more sympathy for your average scam victim or something.
It may well get changed back at some point, I don't particularly care, but why do all of you?
Peace.

But they don't do any harm, so why bother changing the rules?
They can't engage in combat or they will get the banhammer, so they are just toys in high sec.
Not to get too brown-nosey to Chribba, but how is he exploiting anything? Mining veld into a dreadnaught's hold? Invulnerable in high sec you mean? No risk, no reward?
I could mine into a cargo expanded Apoc all day long and I doubt anyone could suicide me.

Actually if you used your low slots for cargo expanders, they could probably suicide you with absurd ease ;)

How exactly does the Veldnaught make him ISK? From what I`ve heard he has a huge alt network and many T2 BPOs. Sure, he mines a lot of Veld, but it`s pennies compared to what his other stuff brings in.
This isn`t so much about capitals in high sec as it is about the insult that has been dealt to one of EVE`s most respected players. Chribba has given tons to the community (LoveQuest, economic support, Eve-Search, Eve-Files) and all he gets from it is a kick in the balls from CCP. ---

If you are saying you can see where CCP are going with this move, and why, please do tell. So far, it just seems like yet another arbitrary decision by someone who has little connection to the game, who doesn't really care about player experience.
I'm not one of the old boyz club, I've never seen Chribba or his Veldnaught in game, but I can recognize one of the very few who do a great deal for the community, both in and out of game. I guess you're not the type of person who can appreciate that.
But it's not just Chribba, there are...were many Caps still in highsec.

How so?
It was never an exploit. never.
Somehow building them after it was decided to have the hisec construction yard removed, that would be an exploit.
Moving a cap into hisec, that would have been an exploit.
Keeping it there was not. right from the day the first capital ship construction started ...in accordance with the prophecy |

Wait, your saying that mining veldspar in empire using a capital ship is having a backbone or brains?
I'm sorry but seriously having a capital ship in empire is in no way anything worth being "well known" for. I don't know chirba and never understood the big deal about the guy, no offense to him.
Even with evetube and evefiles or anything else h e may have done shouldn't cause ccp to NOT do something with THEIR game. Having a highsec capital ship should be the most remote thing when it comes to influencing ccp. So if its not the ship then its the other things hes worked on but if thats the case how many other people can lay claim to having a vote in what ccp does with their game?
I sure as hell would hate to see a game being run by the players where the requirement for a vote is to have done an unofficial project. Either everyone that subs gets a vote or no one gets a vote and ccp runs the ship. We can't have people getting power for things they have done regardless of how much people may like the guy.
As for why ccp made the change, I don't really know or care. But people should just ask why before going into an emofit over it. The way everyone sounds its as though ccp set out to **** off 1 player just for the hell of it. I'm sure thats the case
Fair and balanced gaming for everyone > 1 person's fun whatever it was for im sure ccp had a good reason.

I recognise Chribbas contribution to the game to I degree yes, but I didn't realise that meant any plans CCP had on the board were automaticly overriden by his status. Where in the manual does it say in small print after X amount of community service, player recieves/deserves empire dreadnaught?
There are a lot of people who've arguably done stuff for Eve.
A lot of the things I've seen Chribba do to help the community came after his already meteoric rise to fame. I mean sure it's really nice of him to host things and stuff, but I imagine he does have the spare cash seeing as he'll never have to pay his subscription with real money ever again.
There's also the fact you just mentioned, there were many capital ships in highsec in the game. If you look for the CSM thread petition about it it doesn't say "Move all capital ships back to empire" which maybe I could support. It says "Move the veldnaught back to Amarr".

www.youtube.com, I heard its all the rage. search engine for the forum? THIS Forum??? Eve's forum is a cesspool. people say "creme rises to the top" so what exactly rises to the top of a cesspool? basically who cares whats at the top or the bottom of it since there are so many sites out there with so much eve based information.
But again, why does this 1 person get to bend the rules or alter what ccp does because he puts his own money and time into doing things for eve? He doesn't work for ccp so everything he does is unofficial. I didn't realize there was a buy in option when it came to eve development.
I better start working on a pet project with my own time and money so I TO can tell ccp what to do because I want things a certain way!
EVERYTHING chriba has done was done because he wanted to. CCP didn't have a gun to his head. As far as I know CCP did not contract him to do anything for them. Again as far as I know CCP never agreed that he would get more say in how the game goes then any other player. I ALSO want ccp stock like chirba!!!

Care to give examples? The dreadnaught was allowed in high-sec until now. No rules bent, no exploits.
There probably have some rules been altered, but that was CCPs decision. |

How many had their highsec shipyards removed from POSes? How many others had their dread/carrier moved? So yes, rules was bent. Now its fixed. Else I got a huge list of what I want back after 5 years and 4 months!

New rules are apparently in place. Getting his ship moved back to empire space would be bending the rules. him crying about says he wants ccp to bend the rules for him. I'm not talking about yesterday's rules but today's rules. What they allowed last week, last year ,last anything means nothing if they have changed it.
So the question is why does someone feel that they deserve ccp to consult them on a change to the game ccp runs? Why do others sound like this guy should have say in what ccp does with their game simply because he did some pet projects on his own? Hes not a ccp employee so anything he has done was unofficial and no contract was made between him and ccp that if he did X amount of projects or spent Y amoutn of his own money that he will get a say in ccp's work.
