I find myself wanting to move to Iceland every time Fanfest comes around. CCP should maybe switch the location of the Fan Fest every year or so.
There's a CCP Office in Atlanta that wouldn't be too bad. Or Chicago's McCormick Place (where I live ). CCP already has a presence here in the US so it wouldnt be all that troublesome. It would give a chance for the US fans to really show some support and maybe even boost Eve-O popularity here in the U.S.
Then another year we can have it in the UK that way the Brits can show their love for Eve as well.
I just think it would really reach out to the player base and make this even more of a community. Besides I dont know the demographics of Eve but I know there are alot of US players and I know they would love to go if it wasn't so far all the time.
Your thoughts please...

Given the cost of travel is constantly going up I definitely see the appeal of the fanfest moving around instead of the fans moving to fanfest. -------------------------------- To borrow a phrase:

I dont think so. We would probably be arrested as terrorists for wanting to be evildoers in a computer game.

How come every time someone wants to move the FanFest to a new location, it's always where they live themselves?
There is a reason for doing it in Iceland. Here's a tip:
Quote: It would give a chance for the US fans to really show some support and maybe even boost Eve-O popularity here in the U.S. Then another year we can have it in the UK that way the Brits can show their love for Eve as well.
Have it in the US and the US players can really show their support. Have it in the UK and the UK players can really show their support. Have it in Greenland and the green people can really show their support. Have it in China and we will all be mining? No way!
The FanFest will always be held at a place that is far from someone. If distance is all that is keeping you back, then you simply do not want to go bad enough. I live in denmark. Iceland is fairly close to me, only a 3 hour flight. I would participate in a Fanfest in all of the above mentioned countries, but it still belongs in Iceland. That should not change, ever...

Move fanfest to US? No.. just wouldn't be right.
Have something similar in Atlanta, say 6 months opposite Fanfest? Oh yes.. Yes indeed.

Yeah!
I mean, it could never be the exorbitant cost of airfare for people who may be on limited budgets, the difficulty in getting a travel visa in a post 9/11 world, the HUGE hassle that flying entails, or family and work responsibilities for EVE's large adult gamer population. It must be that people just simply don't want to go badly enough.
Yep, that's it.

It's not difficult to fly anywhere in a post 9/11 world apart from America. Hence why have it there if its the most difficult place to go to?
I can't see why not have one in Iceland, and one in Atlanta. /start sig I love old characters that post 'I've beeen playing the game four years' when I know their account has been sold on. /end sig |

In my case it's the first and last last items that are most problematic. Simply put, I can't afford to fly to Iceland from Buffalo, NY, USA and I have a job with limited time off that is already dedicated to family events and needs. So you will never see me at a Fanfest in Iceland, as much as I would love to go.
Atlanta would be doable, although even that would be a stretch. Chicago would actually be easier, as it is a shorter drive, although Atlanta does make a bit more sense as CCP has a branch there. But flights to Atlanta from Buffalo are actually quite cheap, and hotels there aren't too bad. (They have a really cool one that's hollow all the way up the inside, so it looks like you are inside of a large creature or an old style sailing ship, looking at the ribs. It's really neat!)
So CCP, Please consider Atlanta for a fan fest. Tactical Logistics using the last T1 Frigate hull!

Look, Im not saying Fanfest should be moved to the US forever, just switch it up a bit. It would get Eve's name out there and grab some attention from the media.
I notice most of those who are saying "Well if it's too far you dont want to go bad enough" are 3 hours away from it. It would take americans a day or two to get there.
I would really love to go, but this is for the Popularity of Eve, not my personal enjoyment. I work with college kids who play WoW and AoC and they said if they heard of Eve when it came out, they would have been playing it all along....
Thats says alot and is exactly how i felt when i first played the game. I wish i had known about it earlier. The only way I found out about this game was through a Banner from another website.
So please CCP consider having it in Atlanta next year and or switch location every year. Like a rotation.
There are many benefits from this one being exposure and the other being a healthy turnout. Not to mention the loads of money CCP would get from attendance.
I think those that agree with me should'nt let this issue die. This is something we spend our time and lives on and we should be proud of it.

On a secondary serious note, I would be able to attend fan fest if it was in the States, and maybe even Ireland or the UK. BUt until my lil sis makes it big and I can borrow money from her, lol, I will not be able to make a trip to Iceland

You are forgetting out Canadian and Latin American players. They like spaceship internet games too. Trust me, more nationalities would show up from the West Hemishpere it it were held in the US. You are underestimating The diversity of the americas.
