hi all
Found out about a horrible thing today.
Started production of a Raven, ! min later the job cancels.
Not a problem, i think. Re rent the factory and start again.
Here's the problem, the cancelled job has destroyed most of the mins.
We are a relatively small corp and have spent many hours mining for the minerals/cash required, and for all that effort to disappear in 1 min is a real downer.
Why is there no warning about rent expiring when starting a big job.After all, if I did not have a Burner on my indy, I would not have started the build till a few mins later and would have found out that the rent was due.
40 million seems like a lot to lose for a minor timing mistake.

im guessing it was a corp rented factory, i never get evemails about the rent on mine or my labs. best advice i can give is to check your bills when you log in and when you log off, only takes a second.

1) Personal factory, you forgot to pay the bill.
2) Corporate factory, the bill payer for the corp forgot to pay the bill.
If it's your personal factory, then you need to pay close attention to the bills that arrive for your account. But if it is a factory owned by your corp, then tomw's guess is valid and you need to speak to the bill payer for your corp and blame him/her.
Bummer it happens, but now you know, and you have spread the word for others to watch out for this kind of thing.

Sorry for your loss...lost half the minerals for producing an apoc the same way few weeks back...
The amount of lost minerals is the same % for anything basically...it isn't much when producing ammo / frigate...but it hurts somewhat when building a BS..
Just live with it...like I did

There really should be a warning dialog regarding the amount of time the factory is rented for.

My question is why CCP thinks that any corp needs to be punished for not paying a bill or making a timing mistake. They call it "Game Mechanics", but what it really comes down to is a technicality that they are unwilling to change. CCP has a history of ignoring the players, AKA 3-5 days to answer a petition. Whatever they call it still leaves all players going WTF was the programer thinking? They have one thing going for them the BLIND and TOTAL denial of a problem that is seen in every bug and every petition just or not. I lost half an apocs worth of minerals for a 65k bill. 50 Million isk for 65k bill. Ever see what happens when One contry trys taking anothers military equipment? War is threatened and people die over less. CCP doesn't think that players would like to Blow up the stations that stole that much money from them. BAD CCP THAT"S why I said GOOD BYE to EVE. I don't want to pay them to Give Me The FINGER each Day I play their Game.

You should try and petition it. Seems a bit stupid. The factory should complete the job but impound the product(s) and make you pay the rent + a fine to get it back.
Seems more resonable.

It is a bit stupid but it has been like that for ages. Petitioning shouldnt give the money/res back because:

Made several suggestions as to how the situation could be improved.
Nothing has been done.

Now I transfer all my money to an Alt I rarely use. So all I could loose are 20 Million max.

I recently lost 5 factory slots. I got the EVEmails but never saw the bills and was unable to continue holding on to them. I suspect that IF something had been in the at the time, it too would have been lost.
Fact is there IS something wrong with the lab/factory slot system and noone knows what it is. I've heard too many stories, and read too many posts about people loosing BPOs/BPCs/Minerals/Slots to think it's just user error...

That doesnt onyl happen if you didnt pay your bills. That is a known bug. Sometimes the BP falls out of the factory slot for no reason. i have this every 14 days. Thx god i didnt produce BS

It still sucks! They were capable of paying the bill. They wanted to pay the bill. They had the minerals. They had the BP. They should have a factory and a ship anything else is an failure of interface design.
CCP shouldnt accept this cause it can be avoided. Lots of annoying things can be avoided. Can it be better? Thats the real question. They should note that this can be better! Thats excellence.
Would it kill the dynamics of the game if it just refunded the minerals if the run was stopped by failure to pay rent?

I have heard of this happening to 2 people, both lossing large amounts of mins for a bs build.
Untill this issue is sorted every time i make a bs I will unrent/rent the factory slot just to make sure the bill doesnt become due and past due during the build time. Lossing bs mins would be a real pain in the arse, certainly not worth the 60k in rental.
