Edited by: Brusanan on 01/09/2008 21:13:49 Brusanan's Raffle (Week 1)
Organizer: Brusanan Raffle Channel: Brusanan's Raffle This weeks Ticket Price: 5,000,000 ISK This weeks Prize: Caracal Navy Issue (Value: ~90,000,000 ISK) Drawing: Saturday, September 6th, 3:00 PM EST
Last Weeks Winner: N/A
This is the first of what I hope to be a weekly raffle. I will keep this thread, and just update the first post from week to week.
Tickets To purchase tickets, first contact me via private convo, or in the raffle's channel "Brusanan's Raffle". Tell me how many tickets you wish to purchase, and then send me the money. If I am not online, send an Evemail with the same info, and then send me the money. I will contact you to confirm that I got the money, and that you have been entered into the raffle.
Tickets can be purchased up until 24 hours before the drawing will be held.
For every 3 tickets purchased, you will get a free ticket for the following weeks raffle.
Refunds Stuff happens. You accidentally wander into a gatecamp, or get extremely drunk and pick a fight with Concord, and need your money back to refit your ship. If you need a refund for any reason, you can contact me and get it back, as long as it is before the time of the drawing.
Drawing I will be keeping track of all tickets using a simple application I made in C#. That same application will be used to randomly draw each weeks winner(s).
Other Info Members of my corporation will not be allowed to enter.
Ticket price will change from week to week depending on participation and the value of the prize.
I will not be making any profit from this raffle. Any money made from ticket purchases will be used to buy more expensive prizes. If I get enough support, I will have second and third place prizes as well. |

This is of concern, Whos to say your C# app is a little less than random and likes your alts. National Lotos that post thier results are best imo.

Yea no offense mate, but the best way to get your lotto off the ground is using a national lotto, one that anyone can view so as to eliminate any possibility of a rigged draw. While no one here is accusing you of that, it's too easy to come to that conclusion otherwise. If you really want it to be successful, I'd use something like that. National lotto, last two numbers of the closing NYSE value, something like that. Best of luck to you. |

The only problem I see with the national lotto idea is that there is a very good chance that none of the numbers will come up. Though I suppose I could use the first two or 3 digits of the winning number to make it easier. And I guess I could always make it so the person who is closest to the winning number gets the prize, to ensure that there is a winner every week. Unless you guys would rather they carry over?
Which lottery should I use? I'd prefer one that I can check online.
Give me a couple hours. It won't take much to make it generate a number for each ticket. |

The most common way I've seen is selling 49 tickets, and using the UK national lotto. As far as person not having the winning number, have the drawing the first lotto pick after all tickets sell. Make the price of tickets vs potential price tempting enough, and the tickets should sell themselves. I don't have the site on hand but if you google the uk lotto, it should be one of the first hits. Again, best of luck to you. |

I'm going to delay this for a couple weeks, because I really don't have the ambition to do it right now.
