There are Pos's in space taking up valuable locations. Some of these are not online and are out of fuel. But they continue to take up the space. A fix for this problem would be to have them go offline and become abandoned. Then someone could come by with a hauler and remove them. They would then need to aquire a charter if they wanted to put the tower back up. The amount of secure containers needs to have the same fate. If they are not used within 15 days, they go pop. Last, if I shoot a ship and do not wish to salvage the wreck, I should be able to abandon the wreck. If I don't salvage the wreck, after 1 hour it is abandoned. |

Wrecks disappear after a couple hours. Anchored secure cans disappear after a few weeks as well. |

Not if they are near a Tower.
To the OP: Wardec the corp then blow up the POS. If they respond, tell them the only reason you decced them was because they left the POS sitting in space unattended. |

If a POS has been offline for about a month, then the owners clearly don't want it. So it should be unanchored so that people can steal it.
Or maybe just blow the tower up. |

Given the investment involved in a POS, the time limit must be longer. You can't have people going offline for long periods and have the game screw them over simply for not being online all the time.
There are plenty of activities that force people to be away from a PC for months at a time. I have more time for the notion of declaring war on that corporation and destroying the POS - that at least is a risk we all take, whether active or not. |

Some Corps leave POSes offline until they need them again.
The don't want to un-anchor because their standing it too low to re-anchor.
It's simplier to just leave them in space.
Others have taken a break from the game.
Honestly, are you that troubled about it? How does it being there hurt you?
If you are looking to anchor yours, well someone got there first. If you can't sumnmon the force to wardec and blow it up, don't go crying to the Devs, find help or move on.

well, captain obvious, there is a finite number of moons in this game, and an even more finite number of them in .5 space, which is the quickest POS location to grind standings for.
follow that one to its logical conclusion, and you will realise that unanchored POS's clogging up moons are really, really annoying. |

Then Hire some Mercs if you can't handle it yourself.
The game already has the proper mechanics to solve this issue.

The current mechanism is ok.
A possibility no one seems to consider: Ask them to sell the pos to you.
If no one responds - wardec them and kill the POS.
Sure ressources are limited, but this sort of limit is normally the background for wars in real live. There are not many reasons inside eve to fight each other. Ressources like moon spots for a POS are one of the vew real war reasons. Want to pewpew is not really a reason. Want to kill them because im much stronger is also not really a reason. But fighting for a moon spot is a good reason.

Shoot them and the space is yours. Oh, and you get a KM to go with that space. |

As a multiple POS owner I have to agree there should be some way of salvaging as opposed to destroying. I for one invest a great deal of time as do my corp members ensuring our POS's are filled to capacity so they do not go offline.
Towers can be filled to very close to 30 days and thatĘs been ample time for RL issues in our corp: And if a corp has a POS it "is" a group effort.
I propose that any POS going offline go on a 30 day timer, if they had been filled to capacity in the first place then this would allow close to 60 days for the corp to address the issue. If on expiration of the 30 timer the corp has not refueled the POS then anyone should be allowed to salvage it.
Anyone who has ever had to move a POS will tell you it takes a considerable amount of time to unanchor each piece and if it was required to unanchor all structures before unanchoring the POS tower itself 2 game mechanics would come into play.
#1 The salvager would be at risk the whole time since the un-anchoring process would be unshielded. Anchoring a POS is risky only until the tower is actually online then anchoring structures is relatively safe since the shield is now up.
If the modules have to be completely removed prior to taking the tower down there would be no shield protection and anyone could snatch and grab or attack during the process.
*(High Sec Should Have The Stealing Note Until The Tower Itself Has Been Removed)
#2 The salvaging corp would also have to have sufficient standings to re-anchor the tower if in high sec (low sec has its own risk's) and I propose just to be fair and not make it too easy to salvage a offline "Tower" in high sec that a new skill, lets say Master Salvager be implemented.
Making it possible for anyone or a group to salvage the mod's but only a Master Salvager can unanchor, re-anchor and claim an abandoned POS.
Making the Master Salvager a very valuable skill and a very noteworthy target.
Anyhow in summation I agree some way of legitimately reclaiming moons and removing POS's short of destroying them should be implemented. My solution would be risky but worthwhile for those that care to try and salvage them and still leave the war dec and destroy option open.
Personally I believe anyone who leaves this large investment in ISK and time unattended for 60 days should lose it considering that it equates to 1/6 of a year. My corp and the area we live in call this moon camping and it is by council sanction subject to destruction but I would like to see a way of salvaging it as opposed to wasting the material. |

do you have any idea how long it takes to kill a high sec POS? theres no dreadnoughts, you know. im not saying the current system has anything wrong with it, per say. but its hardly optimum. id say if a POS has been offline for three months, its pretty much not going to come back online anytime soon. |

Correct me if I'm wrong, I've never tried this myself, but I've been told that it is actually possible to "dismount" somone elses POS and steal it if it's de-fueled. I've spoken to char's who have said they regularly do this as one of their ISK making practices. |

High sec pos: You cant mine it so it doesn't matter, go find another moon.
High sec pos: Corps need to gain standing to anchor them. A lot of them do it through a single member with the standing needed remains solo in the corp till the corp gets the standing needed for anchoring the pos, then when the standing is acquired, then the folowing day when all corp members come back into the corp, standing to anchor the pos is gone, but there are backup pos's incase one day they are needed.
High sec pos: Like everyone else is saying, if you really are that hard up for that particular moon, convo them, or war dec them. If you really are that annoyed by it, call your phyciatrist and get him to renew your prescription.
