Greetings.
I was wondering why there are still normal missions that gives you a faction hit when doing them.
To clarify. If I run some caldari agent missions I sometimes get a mission that involve the minmatar or gallente (I think). These missions don't give any bounty on kills, but you do get a faction hit with those 2 races. Even if is small.
I can understand why they were there in the beginning, but with Faction Warfare being in EVE now, wouldn't it be better to maybe move those missions to the FW mission tables? |

So in other words you'd have to join FW to get tags to buy faction modules from the LP store. That is a horrible idea.
If you're worried about the standings hits, turn the mission down, as you can do without penalty every 4 hours per agent. |

Edited by: Babel on 02/09/2008 11:31:30 Normal [non-important] missions in themselves do not cause any faction standing change ...
Kill the ships, tank/ignore the sentry guns/missile batterys/structures as much as possible
One unmanned sentry gun destroyed = same faction hit as killing 40 or so Battleships and the multitude of crew :P
Yes, I know it makes no sense at all - question is - does CCP know too ? |

Don't know if it's been changed recently but when helping someone out on Enemies Abound a while back I suffered significant faction loss in my Minnie standiing presumably due to shooting Minnie fleet ships and iirc Gallente faction standing took a loss in sympathy.
Some else I know who specialised in Caldari had the same thing happen to their Caldari faction standing when assisisiting in Midst of Deadspace.

the general rule is
"if you kill it, you loose standings to it"
the other rule is "if you loose standings toward it, you cry on the forums" |

ship kills don't trigger derived standings modifications, only storyline mission completion.

You're right. I didn't think about the tags. Oversight on my part. Sorry about that. ----------------------------------------------- Recruiting manager. Contact me if you wish to join TSS or learn more about us. ----------------------------------------------- |

Seems its being reported that CCP did the opposite, they re-flagged the Faction War Agent missions to be available to any kill mission agent of that faction. So much for "new" mission content.

You get a faction loss due to Combat Ship Kill. Check your standings transactions for more details

The only real "problem" I have with this is the lack of consistency - I get a faction hit against Amarr for shooting their ships, fair enough, but no faction rise for minmattar and gallente for the same action.
I can see that it would be a bit daft to get faction increases for killing individual ships but it should at least be consistent - or "balanced" as CCP used to be so fond of saying.

Reverse faction gains were removed due to their exploitability. You still get a derived change towards factions when you get storyline changes though.
I know where your comming from though. I think the standings mechanics atm are generally well balanced.

-2.4% Reason : Combat - Ship Kill This penalty was incurred for destroying Amarr Empire's Amarr Cruise Missile Battery in XXXXX
-0.018% This penalty was incurred for destroying Amarr Empire's Divine Imperial Justicar in XXXXX
Both were Direct hits to Amarr Faction and on a non storyline mission from a high sec L4 Agent
Read what I said again.
derived standings.
If you took derived hits for faction ship kills, you would see a penalty to your Khanid or Ammatar standing every time you destroyed an amarr ship.

So if I ask for a mission from Agent1 & he gives me a mission I do not want to do, I can then decline it without penalty with him, his corp, or empire as long as i had not done the exact same thing previously within a 4 hour span with the exact same agent?
Is there a difference between declining the mission and simply not replying? If so, can you exaplain the differences?

Only apply to normal agents:
You can decline one mission every 4 hours every agent. It doesn't matter what missions.
If you get the exact same mission again after you declined it, file a petition because it is a bug.
If you let a mission offer expire, it counts as failing the mission, which is about losing 3 times of what the gain would have been if you completed it successfully. Exception: You can let storyline missions expire without penalty.
