I "dock" my overview on the top right hand side of the screen, without a problem, then when I dock it sends the corp chat to the top right and moves the outpost settings out of place, then when I undock again, my overview windows are all piled up on each other in the top right hand corner. |

Kind of the same problem here. When in space I have my overview in the top right position. Below that I have my drone window and below that, my fleet window. When I dock it moves my fleet window to the top right position and moves the "Station Information" window down below.
Got to move them while docked otherwise my fleet window will sit on top of my overview when I undock. Not very smart if your enemies are right outside the station.
I think it has something to do with the new possibility to move the "Station Information" window around but not sure. Dont even know why they have done that because it worked fine before.
It seems to work proberly on my other accounts that runs on another computer. |

Edited by: Drogan Poot on 03/09/2008 02:55:04 Heh, I have selected item in the top right, below that, I pin the overview and below that, the drones.
After a few jumps, my overview starts randomly jumping around the screen and my selected item window and drones pile up on top of each other in the top right. It's quite a bugger to be chasing my overview window around as I autopilot around.
I just noticed I lost a pack of HHII drones while trying to work out my window placements.

Experiencing a similar issue. I got my Selected Items pinned to the right, below is the Overview, and below that is Drones. When I dock up and then undock the windows are either on top of one another or ordered around differently (drones, then selected items, then overview).

Hi there.
Would you be able to give some more details - like where your other windows are, which ones are open etc, because I'm having trouble reproducing this.
ideally screenshots of before & after in a bugreport :)

Edited by: Isalia Doomed on 03/09/2008 09:29:43 i had this bug a few weeks before, setting up my selected object windows and overview in different places, docking, undocking, and the selected item windows was back the overview in the upper right corner. Try many things to solve this, reinstalling eve client, checking and unchecking options in the general options menu, nothing worked. Sometimes i had the chat windows at the upper left corner too, but that wasn't systematic.
After contacting CS, they told me they were aware of this bug, but there wasn't any solution atm.
then ATI released updated drivers for my GC, i installed them, and the bug went out... i hope it was really my GC drivers that solve this.
(anyway they didnt solve the bug for my char portrait ...

i had 3 overview tabs before the patch, default (that was has the game sets it up, i used this as a "flexible" overview, turning t hings on and off as i wanted.
then i had my 2 custom overviews, for Wartargets and various bracket configs...
unfotunatly, the patch removed the default one and left me with my 2 customer configured ones, did this happen to anyone?

OK.
I _think_ we might have the issue.
The windows UI code was re-written in this patch. Now windows are no longer stored by an absolute x.y location (as previously it was). But now windows are stored as a position relative to the center of the screen.
The positioning pre and post patch are not compatible at all. Any settings/cache related to windows from pre-path will not work properly and make things move around (potentially off screen).
This problem seems to be fixed by going to the esc-menu, reset settings tab. On this page you should reset windows to default positions. This clears the settings/cache of all window positioning, and it should work properly from that point on.
If its still not working, we need a good bug report so that we know what needs to be fixed.

That *may* be it for some people, but after logging in the first time should it not have reset them for everyone? When I logged in after the patch, ALL my window positions were reset for me (I didn't reset anything) and I have had to reposition everything.
However, I did (somehow, not sure how to reproduce it) get my overview window and current selection window which are both pinned, moved on me once in this patch. Somehow the overview window was moved to the top right, above my current selection window (they swapped places basically) even though they were pinned.
I think the problem might be that the code that figures out if windows are innaccessable needs to be all redone. Rather than move windows that are obscured by other windows, just keep it to a minimum of "if the window is outside the viewport, move it so it's accessible". If not all the devs like that idea, make it a choice in our settings to move windows for us or not (moving windows outside of viewport should always be done to avoid losing windows).

Change some of the window sizes. The stupid client still likes to "snap" window borders together even while pinned and then send them all over the place. If the size can't be rounded into a snap-fit (like, if a window was too large to be snapped adjacently to another), it will just overlay it instead.

My overview window stayed at the same place for a change. However, now it's my drone window that appears all over the place.
I needed to do a reinstall anyway, so I hope this stops after that.

Would someone like to suggest why ccp think the windows should snap & move about & not just stay where the user decides to place them? Seems madness to me.
