Is anyone having this problem? I'm flying around space, I hit F10 to go to the Star Map. The System View and Star Map view buttons are off to the left side of the screen, and these buttons don't work. I try the exit the star map by hitting F10 again, and that doesn't work either. The only way to back to space view is to log off and log back in again. It started with the latest patch.

Same thing happened to me earlier. I kept hitting "close" on the tab and it did nothing. I had to log off just as you did.
I'm also experiencing a bug with the drone window since the patch.

OK apparently the things mentioned in this post will cure this problem, for now:

In addition, I cleared the cache just to make sure. Now I am no longer stuck.

Are you sure this works? Because I've just been putting back my windows where they should be when I encountered the bug, I wouldn't like to do it again. What do you mean with "no longer stuck". Didn't reconnecting get it unstuck first? Do you mean it's not getting stuck anymore?

I just did some SiSi testing, and it appears the problem is connected to the Drone window. When I have it at the bottom of the Overview, everythings fine, but when I have it near the top next to my Selected Item window, I get the bug.
Oh, this is the error I'm getting by the way:

It seems to be a bit more complicated. More windows, or maybe places where you put them and pinning seems to be involved. Fixed it twice, but can't replicate it yet. More testing after dinner.

I can't figure it out. Maybe it also has to do with the Map Control Panel, maybe not. Gonna make a bug report now. On a side note, while opening and closing the map on SiSi, with the camera drone on the station side of the ship, about 50% of the times it zoomed out a lot. But I guess that's not related.

Well, I had the starmap set to begin with, but I just went to SiSi to try if it would work if I put it to system view. And what do you know, it works. But they had patched SiSi in the meantime so I wasn't sure if that was the solution. So I went to the Live server, but before testing your solution I checked to see if the bug was still there, and what do you know, bug gone.
I know I didn't fix it, so who did Or did the bug just take a break?

I "think" I know how to fix this. It may have to do with the selected item window being snapped to the top of the screen. But I'm not sure as I can't recreate the bug.
To permanently fix it, move the selected items window, and any windows snapped to it, and any windows snapped to those windows, and so on till you've moved all windows in that group. You can move them back after if you like, they just have to be moved. Resizing at least some of them may be necessary, as that happened by accident while I moved windows around.
This seems consistent with what Che gas said. I'm guessing moving windows refreshes some setting that got a little messed up in the patch. But that's a guess.

Indeed, this is kind of what I did the 2 times I fixed the bug, if not exactly. The Selected Item window may indeed be the base of the bug. To be thorough, I'd like to add you might even have to move windows that are not connected to the Selected Item window (or maybe even windows connected to it), but do have sides that are snapped to the same 'level' as those windows' sides.

Try loosing your ship in 0.0 (gf) and while being hunted in a pod press F10 and getting stuck at a non functional starmap. Buttons don't work, F10 don't work and Ctrl+Mousewheel don't work. Even after when all reds left, local relogging and selecting a gate to jump to made the borked map come back. Made it back in the end but I was flying blind all the time. Ah well, at least it was some change from the random CTD's I've been getting the last few months. |

Well, since you are able to reproduce it, I suggest you bug report it with a log server log attached, that way it will get fixed the fastest. _

I'm having this problem too now. Is the "Selected Items" window the one with the Warp-To, Align-To buttons etc?

The other day I used the solar system map a couple of times and after closing it I lost the overview. It makes jumping gates with hostiles near a bit more complicated.
Somehow the solar system map is borked and is causing all sorts of nastyness. (typical for a pointer bug) The workaround seems to be not using star map and solar system map. And no I don't want to reproduce it because I hate losing ships that way. |
