I love playing Eve - love FW (although haven't had lots of chance to play yet)
However sadly I have a pile of XML files to parse and extract data from so I'm not having fun at all.

Love playing EvE, did so for 5 years and 4 months. And I still find it challenging and renewing.

I'm having a lot of fun lately. Almost a year into playing now and I have found that I get more and more into the game. The only downside is that I grow tired of all the crying and trash talking about how this game shouldn't be like WOW or how it is turning into WOW. So far, I find it far from it... though honestly I don't care one way or the other I'm still having fun.

Seemingly not. No one knows what they want out of this game.
Someone gets it, someone else calls to **** that up for them. Besides a non stop string of whining about how shit the game is, anyone that actually plays EVE for fun is most likely lying.
I just log in to change skills.
I assume the OP is new to EVE, and it still has that "ooo neato" appeal to it. Unfortunatly when you get used to that, it just ends up being a grind to make the number in your wallet bigger.
If you choose to PVP, well. Thats apparently what EVE is, blowing up the isk you spent forever making.

I do.
All the time.
Been playing on and off for quite some time now, mostly been carebearing up until recently, but i just got into the YARR part of Eve and i really enjoy it. Still got a ****load more to do that i'm looking forward too. POSes, science/industry, 0.0 (only been ratting a bit not far in really), finding me a nice corp or maybe a not-so-nice corp, exploration, flying bigger ships and other races, lots and lots.
We'll see. ----------------------------- Not an alt. And proud of it.

Most EVE devs are 2 year rookies so it is even hard to blame them. Just find it funny that CCP management lets rookies develop their main core business product.

Eve is a game for masochists. You're not allowed to have fun - if you're having fun you're doing it wrong, unless your idea of having fun is to ruin everyone else's fun, which is OK - at least until it gets nerfed, then you must moan on the forums and bump all the other moan threads in an attempt to generate a Critical Whine Mass, which, if properly deployed after it has been created, can cause a local temporal reversal which will cause the nerf being whined about to vanish out of existence.
... at least that's the theory anyway. Personally, I do what I want and I shoot anyone who makes a point of getting in the way, and I have tons of fun. I must not be doing it right. ---

I think it is safe to say that the vast majority of players enjoy the experience. There is a lot to do in EVE and it has something for everyone. There is also still a lot of room for improvement, and CCP will have its hands full with that. But that's not a problem, but even if it takes some time, they do deliver.
Personally I'm enjoying playing EVE a great deal, and have done so for years. I might take a break from time to time to do other things, but I'll always come back. I've done a lot of different things in over the years, and still have a lot of things I want to do.
I happen to think that all the whiners also enjoy EVE, so much so in fact that they take the time to whine about things they feel strongly about. -- Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? |

Yep, this is absolutely correct. I have enjoyed Eve for quite some time. I am extremely worried that the game is heading in a direction where I will no longer be able to enjoy it. The dev quotes in some of these threads have made it clear that the devs are set to destroy the very things I enjoy.

You are obviously doing it wrong .. Internet space-ships is serious business!!!!!
But yes, pretty singular game when all is told, now we just need CCP to acknowledge that they are peddling an addictive commodity and take responsibility for all the broken hearts and dreams EvE has left in its wake

EvE is great. I'm having fun since 2003.
I tried Age of Conan, and left after one month.

If sometimes you get a bit bored, take a break for a few weeks but keep your subscription active and keep training skills for when you come back.

The more creative and intelligent you are, the better at lateral thinking you are, the more longevity the game holds. If you do one type of thing your whole EvE career, if you play too much or in some cases too little then its not surprising some people get bored: such is life.
I have had one break from EvE way back due to the burnout factor: I was playing too much and simultaneously all my short skills were gone. Everything was like a week to the next level. Ironically short skills just **** me off now because theyre a pain in the ass to manage.
At the minute im still enjoying the game, my account is paid for til 2011 (lol thx Bruce) so that gives me plenty of time to get bored :P

Yes, in all seriousness, especially now that I can alternate between mission running (in high sec) and 0.0 PvP fun.

I love EvE and I have for over a year. I did the whole carebear-mission-runner bit for a while, now I mainly PvP and just run missions for sec status every so often. It's a game of endless possibilities as long as you are willing to try new things.
And people who say that LoSec and/or small gang PvP is dead don't know where to go for it or haven't found the right corp to fly with. -------------------- "I am hard pressed on my right; my centre is giving way; situation excellent; I am attacking." - Ferdinand Foch at the Battle of the Marne |

2 yrs from now or maybe even less - This OP will be back crying about how the game really sucks balls. TBH we don't need any *****boys telling us how great the game is each day. Every MMO I ever played you get the same re-tard-ed threads.
If CCP would just band these threads from the forum it would be a better world.
Lets leave them Love letters for our lovers! and keep the hate mail to those who really care!

I'm back flying with people I know and almost understand. At least we get each others sense of humour. It's a small corp and there are other people I have yet to meet, but that's all part of the game. Meeting new corp members flying with them, shooting the breeze and logging in after an evening in the pub is a nice way of meeting new people and reading rubbish jokes in the corp chat.
After four years with breaks in between the only two reasons I have for logging in is changing the skills and teaching/learning things from different perspectives. Thankfully I've weened one character off from using cap boosters YEAH!
Yes I'm still having fun in Eve, it's not the same kind of fun when I first started playing, but it is still FUN.
Fun. I am Having Fun. We are having Fun. This is Fun. What a stupid looking word Fun is.
Life is about memories the more the better.
