I was on my way to jump to another system, when I ran head first into a ridiculous amount of lag. After waiting for five minutes for my jump to complete, I closed the game and restarted it hoping that it would fix things. It did not, currently I am stuck on the "entering space" and "tuning on sub-space frequency" page. I can access my character and his location, but EVE is not letting me get into the game itself. Any ideas how to resolve this situation?
Thanks in advance

I can verify this, the client will just hang on the "tuning on sub-space frequency" screen, after activating any char. Anyone else? |

Yep, how annoying! Mine is doing exactly the same thing. Wont get any further than 'entering sub space and then sits there constantly telling me so. Is anyone doing anything about it?

UPDATE: I can create a char from scratch and then get in ok. I have raised a support question, and I'll wait for an answer!
Just my luck, one of the nights of the week where I get to play and I can't get in! :(

Update: My situation got fixed. I managed to get into the game, run over to my home station and dock. Hopefully, the other people that have this issue will have their own resolved. ^_^

This is called getting stuck, it can happen on jumping system and undocking, the only solution seems to be to create a new character and file a 'Stuck' Petition, the GM's do deal with them very quickly usually and will usually return you to your last point of docking.

I'm hearing of two different cases --
Case A (mine) involves failing to enter space while undocking from a station. Some folk have reported this happening at every undock, some have it happening randomly about every fourth undock. Cause and fix unknown. Same for all characters on the account/computer.
Case B (a friend) has failing to enter problems after jumping, also (in his case) irregularly and averaging about every eighth jump. He's doing missions -- it is a real pain.
In both cases, exiting the game and relogging offers a temporary solution AND a new case happens fairly soon.

If the black screen happens when you are logging in then a stuck petition is needed. This can be done by hitting F12 using another character (if needs be create one for this purpose).
On jumping and exiting stations, i've not found a workaround other than relogging, u don't need a petition for this (they know about it).

I used to have this, but think I've found a workaround: Before undocking, open the market and look up the price of any item (I use a quick-select button to look up the price of zyd). When prices are showing, close the market and undock. Works like a charm and is much faster than re-logging.

Edited by: Tempest Vophase on 19/06/2004 05:58:25 Actually, after experimenting a bit, I don't think you actually need to go into the market and have prices showing. I just found that if you did anything ... even repairs ... you were fine. But I can reproduce the problem every time if I merely dock and then undock.

this has happened to mee a couple of times too. usually it ends up with a server node (or something) passing away, which is annoying. it takes a while until the client gets the info and connects to a new node. --------------------------

I have been experiencing this also for a while now. It happens about 40%-50% of the time and can be easily solved by relogging although this is annoying to say the least.
Does anyone know if the devs are currently working on this?

What about the client just "stopping"? What I mean, is every once in awhile my client will just stop getting updates from the server, it appears as if I'm dead in space, nothing moving or changing. Only fix is to reboot EVE. Any ideas as to why or a possible fix?
EDIT: BTW, this is at any time, especially while mining [or maybe only when i'm mining? I do it alot...] ... as far as I've been able to tell there is no trigger, when I warp back to the belt everything is as it was before [no new NPC/PCs, etc]... _____________________________________ Your Focused Modulated Pulse Energy Beam I perfectly strikes Blood Arch Sage, wrecking for 216.8 damage. |

Hitting ESC will bring up the options screen. Bottom right corner you got the Petition button, won't that work as well (just did it with my stuck char...)?

alas, opening market or any other window while in station is not a reliable solution. The "Entering Space" problem does seem to occur less frequently while there are fewer players ingame, which suggests that what is happening is that my client is waiting to receive data from the server.
This could be a server problem, an internet problem, or even a firewall/router problem. Suggest solution: have the client ask the server for the data again after a specified period during which no response was received. This should handle either server or Internet problems.

The undocking problem is a system problem. The Khanid Prime system is completely broken. After reloging a few time you will hit another problem, you will not be able to see anything in an astoid belt unless it appears while your there. This can be fixed by repackaging you ship... This will lose your insurance but a GM will credit you if you call. I was told this issue is high priority by a GM.

I think it might be a System problem aswell, Its happened to me 4 times now in the space of a day and its always been in the Korama System, Mainly Korama V undocking from a Factory.
Just loggin out and reloggin in fixes it but ffs, what a pain.

As some of us saw last night, this is a system problem where players get stuck while in certain systems only. For me it started with getting stuck while warping. So I logged out and back in and got stuck on the entering space part.
Instead of going through the process of creating a new player, just press escape while it says "entering space" and you can file a stuck petition from there.
Even at midnight GMT (the time the game uses), it only took a GM 5 minutes to reply. And he kindly moved me to the next station along so that I could move.
Hopefully this is the reason for all our little "stuck" problems, but as the GM proved, it can be easily worked around.
Maybe when the use those lost nodes again, the problem will stop?

Since the latest Patch, a few days ago. I have been going through periods of time when I have been getting hung whilst leaving one station after another.
5 in a row at one point.
'Entering Space' just sits there.
I have to relog each time. I had this happen 15 times in one session.
Come on CCP, get ur finger out and get it sorted. I can't take much more.
Have the Dev. team got their heads buried in the sand?
This bug will start to drive people away, especially those trying the game for the first time.

Edited by: HDCamper Itsim on 21/06/2004 17:14:08 first time in weeks - In derelik region and about every other undock at one point stuck at entering space and watching the tuning on sub blah blah page. had to relog multiple times. Was happening to other corp mates as well. One thing of interest that was going on was all the systmen messages about persons getting stuck in several systems.. I didn't think I was necessarily close to them, though.
Hopefully this will get better fast.

Code.
The solution you are talking about refers to a different problem.
The one where you right click and close is where the screen updates, your ship appears, and the grey update box is frozen in the middle.
The one I am talking about is where you leave the station, the screen goes black, the grey 'Entering Space' box appears, and the little progress bar just sweeps from left to right.
Appart from the box the whole screen remains black.
I have tried the right click close on this bug and it does not help.
The only solution I have found is to relog. Every time.

Thank god it is not just me then.. This has been happening to every member of my corp.. The support team have told me to clear my cache and also reinstall the game .. both failed to resolved the "Entering Space" issue... Problem is every time I log now to fix it, EVE reboots my machine ... Sigh... Please CCP, sort it out, I have stopped playing now because it is such a ball ache.

This is the prob I have. It's very random. The first time it happened was when I was undocking in the middle of a mission. It caused me to not get the mission bonus, but no biggy. I've started to recognize when it's going to 'hang on undocking'. Instead of brief pauses here and there as space "loads", the progress bar will continuously run on the 'tuning into subspace frequency' screen without interuption and just sit there doing that.
What I usually do then is to press 'Esc', which just gets rid of the load window (I think), and then I press Ctrl+Esc, close Eve, and reboot just in case that makes things happier. When I relog onto Eve, I'm either still sitting in the station, or my ship has just undocked.
It's not a huge prob for me so far, but here's hoping they can get it fixed soon.

Ive stopped doing missions as a result because every now and again you forget and speak to agent undock......... ARGH

Ive introduced 5 people to eve in the past few weeks. I have to be honest - if the game was this buggy when I tried it a month ago I wouldnt have subscribed. I hope the devs are doing their utmost to fix these problems (Im sure they are)

my main char has gotten stuck in space(not the undock bug, just stuck) twice in the last 24 hours, first time i petitioned, now i'm just going to wait for server restart before i bother again, got a long skill training anyway
i think the last patch/hotfix/whatever seriously borked some groups of systems, because some friends of mine have no trouble travelling until they get to certain areas on the map, and it seems different for everyone, my problem area seems to be the systems within 2 jumps of illinfrik

the dock/undock bug (tuning in to subspace frequency till you grey out) exists since a couple of weeks. ccp dont do anything from my point of view... HEY GUYS, MOVE YOUR AS. ;) the only way to avoid it is : dock, do some window actions (call market, escrow, whatever) close all windows, move something from cargo to hangar and back, wait a minute and then u can undock. it's really annoying and i hope (harhar *sarcasm on*) that ccp will fix it asap (harhar, you know the rest^^).
