Need help finding Zero Tank; Pure DPS Fleet Role (PVE) Level 4 Missions.
My role is to do pure dps...range or not... I currently fly Domi, Mega, Hyperion.
I can't find a PURE DPS setup...I'm talking about every single slot fit for damage. 0 tank is fine. 0 range is fine.
Input please.

Easy: Biggest guns, 4 damage mods, speed mod (afterburner, mwd), cap to run the guns forever (if you even need one), tracking computers/enhancers.

If the tanking ship is one that has difficulty dealing with small stuff, a raven with explosion radius rigs works pretty decent.

I use a megapulse abaddon as my mission ganker. Scorch ****es me off with it's very very very low cost efficiency (7k every 4.3 seconds? Makes me cry.... and use AN infrared occasionally), but the damage is omgsexy. In missions with respawns and switch aggro, I rarely have to warp out with a single LAR (no hardener tank). It's that sexy.

It sounds like you're looking for a domi. Its two damage bonuses give it great dps and drone damage is very desirable for PvE. They're better against small stuff than missiles or turrets and don't use ammo.
You could use abaddon or something, it could be pretty hot if you shoehorn a full rack of tachs on there somehow and can avoid tracking issues.

hyperion
8 neutron blasters ab, webwebweb+more web (ok, maybe 3 webs and a TC if you have to) 3dmg mods, 3 speed mods (mix of nano+OD+istabs, need to be able to stop quickly as well as have a high top speed, mix em up to suit)
point the hype at an aggroed group, when you get there web as many of them as you can, obliterate your targets then chase down the ones that escaped.
webby drones are great for stopping snipers and of course light drones to help kill the frigs.
with the rack of webs you can also kill t2 spider drones with your neutron blasters, great for that initial phase of the fight where you need to dig your tank out from the swarm of frigs.
cap stability is not an issue if you turn the AB off between groups. if anything lasts long enough for your cap to go click then your not killing it fast enough. large structures will make you cap out if you go for them, but the rats should be popping fast enough to give your cap time to recharge between groups.
and dont ignore the agility, you have to bring your ship to a stop to get that dps to hit, so max top speed is useless when it then takes you forever to slow down again.
i've done this in a mega (lower base speed, 1 less gun and 1 less mid, but had space for a DCU) and its great fun to fly. the hype is naturally better though. Because sometimes you just have to go back to your roots: [2005.02.20 01:08:03] (combat) Your Civilian Light Electron Blaster perfectly strikes Serpentis Smuggler, wrecking for 20.3 damage |

I like this setup because it can keep firing even when being hit by the neut towers. OTOH, it will die in seconds if it gets targeted. I would never fly this.

Ed: TBH, the only reason I can't thing of any reason why this could be a valid fleet role. You won't have the hitpoints to survive being targeted in a mission. Are you trying to poke a hole in the "max gank" PVE philosophy? I guess. It still seems reasonably to fit a plate or damage control.

Yes. I posted three T2 setups for Gallente battleships that all get more dps than your officer fitted nightmare. Considering that the OP wants as much DPS as possible to the exclusion of anything else, I'd say it's kind of a waste to spend all that money when she's gonna get something that doesn't even outperform a plain old T2 fitted battleship.

I tried the Hyperion with a 1300 dps neutrons setup in missions (solo). Didn't work to well for me. Why? Well anything in range was dead but 90% or more of the fight you spend getting in range and this suxx. For instance with a cerb (with a 3 slot tank and fit for range + speed) i am both faster and safer than with the Hyperion.
In your case (=rats orbit tank = not you) You either want something with RAAAAAANNNNNNGGGGGEEEEE that has near 100% dps time or a high dps setup with decent speed and agility.
If you want to use blasters then speedmods + trackingcomputers are needed to have a decent dps-time. The dominix is cool. It can help with remote reping while drones do decent dps. Realy a good ship. |

Edited by: Jim Pansen2 on 20/09/2008 12:03:59 Rail Domi or Mega are the most practical Ships if you can only use Gallente. Domi is a bit more flexible with Drones, Mega is better at Range(Trackingbonus) with Rails. Blaster Mega is more or less unpractical in Missions because of the poor Range(about 25km with Null, 12km with Antimatter).
I personly use a Abaddon(about 1000 DPS Mission Fitting, full gank but still solo fitting) it¦s Tracking is very good(Puls Lasers + 2 Trackingcomps) and the practical Range with 50km works out ok with a AB(you can hit things like Frigs at 80km but Damage gets a bit low, and no I don¦t use Scorch for Missions). Personaly don¦t see a Problem to do Missions solo with this amout of Damage Tanking becommes very easy(Med Rep, 2 Hardners in my Case), so there is no need for Missions. If it¦s for plexing at least a buffer would be needet because of respawns.
Reread the Nightmare part, fit one for 20 B and watch Suizide Gankers take it down, why EFT People never have any real clue how practical is a fit in realty...
1000 DPS is allready a very good mark(with T2/Faction) if you can reach it(ofc it is not a problem if the fitting only have 800 but more tracking leading to the same results, counting in the ability to take down smaller stuff quicker). Pure DPS Numbers or EFT is not a real indicator how well a ship or setup work, take out a stop watch and compare times with others on the forums to get a real benchmark how efficent your fitting is. --- Alt of The Djego, currently on a long therm Skill.

Are you mentally challenged in some way? You've produced Blaster fits with afterburnes. By the time you reach your first target the Nightmare will be on it's 3rd battleship. Even assuming you could INSTAPOP a battleship once you got in range I'd still put my money on the Nightmare with its 1300 DpS for kill effiency. The afterburner was there mostly just because I felt like it and it happened to fit without interfering with any of the damage mods. The OP wasn't interested in it anyway.

Well, if he doesn't use it together with at least a couple more battleships of the same type, or with some logistics or remote reppers, he should prepare for disappointment.

A friend of mine uses this very setup when we run, and I can testify to its wtfpwnness. 'Wasting' salvos isn't really a problem after you get the hang of how many hits you have to land on what enemies, he says. It's more of a solo ship for missions though. You aggro and then let the enemy come to you, taking them out one at a time while they do.
Really though, you shouldn't be looking to field a whole range of damage-only fits. Throw in at least one ship that is very good at aggroing at long range and then tanking it out while you sit back and pick things off. In other words, have a friend in either a Mael or a Rokh with you. A repper-fitted Abaddon is fine too.

A pure DPS Gallente battleship... here is one not suggested yet.
And, yes. I HAVE flown this. And, yes, as requested - 100% dps.
Hyperion:
Highs: 8x Neutron Blaster II (Faction AM or Void)
Mids: AB (Faction or Officer for preference), Some combo of Sensor Boosters, Tracking Computers, Cap Rechargers
Lows: 3/4 Mag Stabs, 2/3 Overdrives/Nanofibers.
Rigs: Hybrid Damage, Hybrid RoF, Hybrid Falloff or Cap Regen if needed
Drones: 4xOgre II or lots of Hammerhead II
Yes, fit for speed. This setup can do completely ridiculous dps but is limited by range. A few speed mods gets you up close and personal to allow the blasters to rip things apart. As always, loads of scope for modding and playing about with the setup. Can add a webber for frigs if you so wish. But, even 1 OD + 1 Nano makes a huge difference and the already agile Hyperion really can shine once you get it above 500m/s on afterburner alone :D

Geddon...
Tachs and Sentries can get you 1100 DPS out to 40km pretty easily. -=^=- "Someday the world will recognize the genius in my insanity." |

Range does matter ! ! !
If you dont got range you waste time geting into range. I find that an abaddon does the jobb best since the huge range and high dps of Tach's.
With this setup you hit at 43km ish. Switch the scrips for tracking once the long range BS are gone I got 1700+ wreckshots with this. IT MELTS EVERYTHING !!! :P
