Just got a good ole Salvage ship and im now pondering places to actually look for Salaving locations.
Currently at Sakkasen, in the Citadel region, in the Uusasai Constellation

Conventially, the best way to find wrecks is to produce them yourself, either from ratting or running missions.
Other than that, you'll need to find the wrecks left by other players. Either tour the belts after someone who's ratting; ask to salvage someone's mission if they're not going to do it (or use scan probes to locate their missions and salvage away); or head to the location of a player battle and salvage the wrecks there. These four options are more or less in increasing order of both difficulty and effectiveness in my opinion.

Let's be honest: Running Missions is boring.
Here is your 'quick step-by-step tutorial' on Ninja Salvaging:
- Train Astrometrics, Astrometrics Pinpointing, Astrometrics Triangulation and Signal Acquisition to IV.
- Get an Astrometrics Frigate specialized for your racial class.
- Fit your ship with a Recon Probe Launcher and Fathom probes.
- Visit Dodixie or Motsu, and warp to the sun.
- Drop a Fathom Probe, and bring up your scanner. Search for Ships and Drones.
- Press F10 and check Solar System view.
- When you're finished scanning (~60s) green dots will show you possible ships running Missions.
- Warp to each dot, and if you're lucky, you should find a Mission in progress, with wrecks.
- Bookmark the area, swap ships to your Salvager and return.
- Make sure you check local, or for any convo request, because you will find Mission Runners smacktalking you, or demanding you leave immediately.
- Don't.
- Salvage everything.
- Extract Carebear Tears.
- When you're ready, join Suddenly Ninjas.

its a complex open to anyone who decides to warp to the beacon.
yellow wreaks are other players kills, you can salvage them at the risk of annoying them (see ninja salvaging). you can also loot them, but the other player is then allowed to shoot at you for stealing.
Because sometimes you just have to go back to your roots:

Folks are pretty laid back about salvaging yellow wrecks in Skeleton comet. There are a few who get annoyed, but mostly its one bit all-you-can-eat salvage buffet. Just remember to fly something with some tank. The best salvage areas are the spawn points. Rats don't last very long after they spawn...

500sec base time rather than 600sec
