I have had this problem in the past but it was brief and went away.
Suddenly in the last few days, I load the game up, it flashes up on the screen, then minimizes itself and won't open.
I reinstalled eve, didnt help.
I have used alt+enter which helps if the client is open and running and I have this problem.
Now I can't really get it to open at all. I am getting pretty frustrated. 
Anyone have any further suggestions?
Please help. :)

ok, dunno if this works, but i started to delete things in my eve folder, like cache stuff and then i found this folder : bin .. there is also an exefile.exe executable. So i clicked this, and a dos box prompted and eve started without the splash screen.. aight.. i closed the dosbox and eve was gone also.. after that i clicked my shortcut on my desktop again..
the only probl i guess is .. that my fecking overview is gone again. :( :(

I can't find anything that is working consitently. It takes about 20 tries to open the client. I hit escape and sometimes that jogs the client open to the window where you can specify stuff in your eve client, ie, voice, graphics, so on.
I get the message : EVE exe file has stopped working.
I tried what you said worked for you.
Eventually the client opened.
I am BTW, running window vista, 32 bit. I dunno if that is significant.

I have the same problem. I think it stems from closing the client while in windowed mode. When I close my client in full-screen mode, no problems. But when I close my client in windowed mode, this will occur the next time I open the game.
The work-around I've found is to attach a 2nd monitor, open the game. The game will now probably appear on the 2nd monitor. Close the game, disable the 2nd monitor. Now open the game, and it should open correctly.
Yes, this is a huge pain, and I hope that someone can offer some advise as to a better work-around. A way to force the game into opening in full-screen would be appreciated.
Edit: Upon sifting through the log server, I find the following error occuring repeatedly:

go into your eve folder and select eve (safe mode) exe.
then alt+enter there and close the game again.
then start ur normal exe and it sould work again.

where do you find the safe mode exe??
