Edited by: Siddy on 14/06/2004 16:52:35 Edited by: Siddy on 14/06/2004 16:51:52 so the whole collektive conclusion of this post is to "adapt and suck it up" or "get secure cans"
but lets return to Bugs original subjekt rather then continue this endless chain of "ore thif/greefer" debate
after all - debating over this subjekt on forum is like being in paraolympiks - even if u winn u are still retardet
To bug: no there isint any sucseseful ore theifs as u mean in 0.4 but there is wery suckseseful pirats insted -------------------------------------------

Ore thieves are the scurge of eve and the most pathetic citizens you get.
However, we all know that if you mine into a jet'ed can and someone comes they can steals so you have only yourselves to blame.
WE mine into unsecure cans all the time but try to ensure our indy ships keep the amount of floating ore to a minimum.
We know the risk and accept the losses.
However if criminal flagging ever allows us to we will of course splatter them :)
Fair play to the author of this thread though, the fact he is planning to steal ore in an area where he can be attacked shows character to me. (still hope he gets blown up mind )

WHATS AN INDY FULL OF ORE IN A GALAXY FULL OF ROIDS OF ALL SHAPES AND SIZES remember children it is just a game after all just a really big one full of nasty hobbitses....your precious ore aint really worth tht much anyway as i'd hazzard a guess it was pyro...but heres a tip find a safer place to jet mine or declare war maybe..but if you whine on the forums about "ore thieves" viceroy will shoot you down...he is a nasty hobbit...but he is correct your precious aint really yours you just digged a hole in a roid and left the mess in a cargo container...cleaning tht mess up gets a small reward...too small to mention on the forums...and no one is simple enough to try steal ore in low sec. theyd be history in seconds unless of course the said miner was a real dumba55 and went alone...but as the man says "theres one born every minute"

Originally by: Bug Are there any ore thieves who successfully operate in 0.0-0.4 space? I'm currently training up tactical shield manipulation, which got me thinking about a Badger MkII setup that could tank drone damage just long enough to make a run for it.
Or alternatively you could fit 3-4 multispectrals and 1 Burst ECM to stop them (and their drones) from firing back altogether.
Well first of all, kudos on having the brass to mine in a .4 and below. Most carebears want risk free strip-mining in secure space.
To your question, if you're flying a badger you have a slim chance of escaping unless u are ready to run once u see them in local. Most raiding parties are probably cruisers or BSs and could destroy that badger in no time at all regardless of what you equip to protect it. They would almost certainly use warp scrambling too.
I guess my suggestion would be: 1) keep ur eye on local like a hawk 2) load up with warp stabs and some speed mods and sacrafice ur cargo capacity for a chance of survival, its ur best chance to escape a decent raid. 3) mine with some friends that have combat fitted BSs, or go back and get ur BS fitted for combat (with some friends).
In all honesty, there are plenty of .4 and lower systems that are quiet and free of pirates...just look around.
on a side note, although I'm a pirate and take advantage of every lazy, fat carebear I can...I still disagree with ore thieves in secure space. The reason is that there is no chance to defend urself or ur ore. Stealing ore in a .4 or below is just survival of the fittest. If they chase u off, they get ur ore, simple as that. If you don't like it, come back with a better ship and take ur ore back. ------------------------------------------------

BUT you have insurance and get MOST of your investment back. ore theiving is your working 3-4-5-6 hours on alot of ore and some ***** comes and takes it all, thats just BS. i will personally pod you every time i see you. thats the end of it you are nothnig but a griefer please develope a different skill, if thats what yuo wanna call it, in Eve or gky
If you dont use a secure can, you are either;
a) A greedy, lazy, ignorant miner that wants max profit for min risk and will whine like hell when someone that has a slightly higher IQ rating liberates his ore from him
b) A smart miner who knows the risk vs reward system of mining and considers the risk when using jet cans, and doesnt whine when he loses his ore because he knows thats the risk he took.
I believe you are classifed as the former. Screaming "GRIEFEEER" at the top of your voice at the people who take advantage of your greed does not make them griefers, and it does not make your point valid.
There is no such thing as an "ore thief". There are secure cans, and jet cans.
You know the ORIGINAL idea of mining was to mine into your CARGO HOLD and go to a station to dump it before repeating. Jet mining is a player invention that speeds up normal mining, but since it gives the user a huge advantage it has its drawbacks too.
I hope you understand that, although i doubt you will. Calling people "GRIEFERS!" when they manage to outsmart you or take advantage of your greed is much easier than trying to understand where you're doing wrong and fixing it.
Bravo Bravo!! Although I Roleplay a honest Knight who does not condone ore thieving, I still Agree the Idea here is Risk Vs Reward. What you speak here is the Utter Truth!!! In fact your quote is so Truthful and honest I borrowed part of it for my sig for a bit
