Yesterday I was running my Raven doing the öDamsel in Distressö mission. As I cleared the mission from rats I homed in to destry the assigned structure to rescue the lady. I closed in to about 10km while pounding the place. At the same time my alt on a destryer salvager was cleaning up behind. At the time the structure poped my alt was about 20-30km away from the structure but to my surprise, at the same time the structured exploded, all went red in my salvagingboat and boom, I was instantly poded?
Well mayby that was supposed to happen, I dont know but I never seen it before and my raven with drones hugging the structure escaped without a scratch, witch is pretty strange if structurs that pops does damage.
Have anyone experienced anything similar. If this is all normal, is there a safe distance to keep the salvaging alt on?
A little enoying seeing all the ISK earned on the mission go into a new salvaging boat.

Yes, that is working as intended - the structure does damage to ships in the area when it explodes. I don't recall the safe range but you could look at eve-survival.org to see what details they have on that mission.

It always gave damage to close ships.

Yeah, I figured that was the case. Well that's what good with eve, when it hurts to learn, you rarely do the same mistake twice ;)

Loosing a salvager is nothing. I was trying out my brand new Manticore and that blew up like it was made of match sticks. Cost me a few iskies

Navy Raven fitted with 3 bil of kit (PVP Fit  )
This happened as i got a phone call at 4am in the morning with the words "get your ass on vent we need some help"
So i oblige and jump on vent and undock warp to the gate which i thought was the low sec system we were engaging in. I heard the primary name called and as i landed on the gate i saw his name in the overview.....
Well needless to say i was in high sec at the time and yes concord slapped me for it but i did pop him as he was low structure.
I know this is "structure explosion killed my salvager" but thought this might make you feel better ?:)
