Well, there are those new missions. Today I got "feeding the giant". I got this from a combat agent. Mission objective is to mine some "Oeryl". Needless to say, I suck at mining. But since I remembered that mission, where you just had to kill some folks and then mine for a minute one tiny roid, I decided to give it a go. Big mistake. I fitted a Cane with cargoexpanders and some named mining lasers. This was about 5 hours ago... In short: turn it down, if you can't field an exhumer, or get a corpmate/miningalt do the job.

note to you, if you happen to have the horrible odds to get a mining mission from a primarily combat agent, don't assume that the lvl 4 combat agent you use all the time gives lvl 1 mining missions. This is just my assessment of what probably happened.

OMG, you have my compassion!
At least the mission description tells you something about the total volume (45.000 cbm or so) as a warning so that's something for a Covetor (needs half an hour or 45 min. around with good skills) or Hulk and an indy for later hauling.
The payout (ISK+LPs) is not poorer than plain mining in high sec if you're using an L4 agent with high quality in a system with not too high sec status but it also is not better. It should be better to make those missions more attractive.
By the way: There are some other mining missions of that caliber, they have another name and require to mine another ore (with also odd names) but they are essentially the same. Just look at the total cbm in the mission description to avoid them.

Well, I saw that number. Then I remembered that mission with the nuts drone guy. Killing the peeps around the ore and mining for 10 minutes. So I thought mkay, combat agent, the volume is a bit big, but It won't take forever to mine. That was the mistake. No chance mining it in a can and pick it up with my transport. I takes me roughly 15 minutes to mine 245 units. Time consumption roughly 6 (!!!) hours overall. In short: whoever reads this and is in a similar situation, be warned, it is not worth the effort.
