Here's a poser for you: - If CCP created the Overdrive module - and they created the microwarp drive module - and they also created pirate implants - and they created leadership skills and gang warfare links - and then later they created the polycarbon engine housing rig and drug boosters that upped speed = Do you think that the combination of all that maybe resulted in things going a wee bit fast? (come on... it's an easy one)
Here's another: - If CCP created the insurance mechanism which worked pretty well when the mineral market was in one state - then later they created the drone regions which has put the mineral market in another state = Do you think that might have resulted in a situation where battleships only have an end cost of 7-9million isk? And maybe that is bad for the game as a whole? Well, it lead to the increase in suicide ganking, and judging by your tone I would guess you would probably vote well on the side of, "Suicide ganking = Bad".
So, here's your last one: - If CCP created a game that was seemingly based on risk vs reward judging by the incremental value in resources the further away from hisec space you got - Then CCP added many other things which took that ratio of incremental value and skewed it drastically to a more black and white line which resulted in alot of the lowsec value ending up on par with hisec = Would you maybe conclude that the game is possibly a bit out of wack? That the people voicing the opinion that it is indeed out of wack might not care about anyone's greed or ease of gaming and just want to see things returned to a balanced state?
I think we have established in the first two examples that CCP is not infallible. They make changes to the game that have repercussions they didn't intend and things go off track a bit. Otherwise why would they have just made a change to CONCORD?
"Woops. We didn't intend that. Let's bring that one back in line."
So tell me, oh Shellfish of Love, why is it that the "legitimate balance concerns" are only ever legitimate when they affect the hisec crowd adversely? Like... suicide ganking.
Any positives that get unintentionally floated hisec's way, well... "those are OUR RIGHT!" That is, if CCP doesn't want their game to die.
It seems pretty ironic that you would call out greed as a motivator when the hisec people benefiting from unintentional love are as tight lipped about it as... clams.

Now see, if this was the standard of posting and thinking, I would never have to chime in with my ill though out and inflammatory tripe.

because ccp is going to nerf the majority of players
what most of them seem to want is a reason to go to lowsec/0.0... in lowsec the belt rats suck (unless you a like a week or two old) the minerals suck, the missions, well why mission in lowsec when you got that lv 4 q18 in a .5, the slightly better rewards don't outweigh the risk of losing your ship, and controlling the area, well there isn't much profit in that.
as for 0.0 there is a bunch of 0.0 that is worse than level 4 running, either low number of belts, or bad truesec and really bad spawns in the belts.
now some 0.0 is great, lots of belts, lots of spawns, good moons to mine, but quite often there is an established power group in these areas.

If you nerf high sec peoople quite - earning money takes longer than I like and if you make it take even longer, Ill get tired of playing.
CCP needs to buff low sec payouts and bounties and lleave high sec alone.
If you think corp is different than a guild or clan you have some insecurity issues.

The fancy pants who wants their precious safe space untouched have never killed another player, most of them have never even got their ship destroyed (by a player that is). Try it and you might even, behold, like it. It's quite a general statement, never the less it's true. No?

Dev 2: Nerf nanos?
Dev 1: Yeah, that'd be good. Those guys are really f'n funny when they go on a crying jag. Needs to be more outrageous than that though.
Dev 2: Nerf suicide ganking?
Dev 1: Oh yeah, now we're talking, Goon rage is way better than nano-rage.

Ok, here's what we do, nanos first, then when that dies down a little, suicide ganking, then when they're already really wound up about that, we'll hit 'em with Chribba!! The whole situation is easy in my opinion. Change the following: High Sec: (a) Only T1 (meta 1) mods and gear can be made there. (b) Remove all but the the most worthless of ore And decrease its spawn rate dramatically..like to once a month or week. (c) Only make L1 Missions avialible in High Sec (d) Remove Concord & Gate guns. Make Pod-pilots responsile for secruity as part of Faction Warfare (e) Remove Rats completly
Low Sec: (a) Only T1 (Meta 2-4) can be dropped here or made here?? (someday) (b) Move all but the most valuable of ore here. (c) Make onlty L2 & 3 Missions avialible in Low sec (d) Remove Gate Guns. Make Pirates, Bounty Hunters, and Mercs responsible for security as part of Pirate Faction Warfare?? (someday) (e) Place ECM Generators on Gates...instantly removes gate camps (f) Place all NPC ratting here
Null Sec: (a) Only T2 can be made here. (b) Keep the most valuble of ore here...but remove the low ends completly (c) Only L4 Missions are availible here. (d) Make Alliances responsible for security of the area. (e) Jump Capable ships can only operate here. No Low Sec, No High Sec Jumps...in or out (f) Place ECM Generators on Gates...instantly removes gate camps...bubbles should be used to pull you out of warp into a ambush along your route if ya not paying attention. (g) Remove all NPC spawns except for the occasional Faction spawns that will only be found here
This all serves to provide "lines of supply"
It give those that wish to remain in reliative safety away from the lawess areas "by choice" the ability to do as they always have...but with limitations.
I've heard it said that CCP intends for all players to move to Null Sec at some point...this is the incentive for that.
Low sec should be the premire place to be meet between Hi/Null Sec residents High should be the premire place to build Fleets and wage epic battles
I've heard it said that the only safe place in EVE is docked in a station...thats not quite true...since you can be a pirate in Null Sec and still move about freely..anywhere you wish...no logic in that to me.
High sec is for "newer players learning the mechanics of eve...not the end all be all
-Pirates can now do what they do (Prowl low sec areas) -Mercs can do what they do. (protect the high sec areas) -Bounty Hunters can do what they do (Hunt pirates) Bounty system needs serious work btw -Alliances can fianlly be more than "non penalised" pirates (if they wish to acctually aquire good and services form other area and be the City States they were meant to be

Edited by: Kransthow on 08/09/2008 21:24:48 It has become a trend to use spamming general discussion as a means of accomplishing an objective.
Im sure a fairly small percentage of people actually use these forums but certainly having all your alts and your friends create a post everyday called "My Why Hi Sec Is Good Whinethread" can make it look like there are a large number of people that would like to see no change.
What motivates these threads?
Greed
Wanting the game to be easier for you
Legitimate concerns.
Greed probably covers most of the current hi sec buff related threads: If hi sec gets buffed who is in the best position to make ISK?
Certainly wanting the game to be easier fits into this: If everyone can make a living in empire then a small percentage of the playerbase is in a position to have a much harder life.
Legitimate concerns? Every macro miner in the game is untouched - legit. Every carebear in the game whines about nanos - legit.
Please CCP dont make the mistake of thinking there is anything legitimate at all about the current spate of threads calling for hi sec buf***e, they fit solely into categories 1 and 2.
I imagine the number of alt accounts is dwindling at the minute and now is a delicate time for Eve: get it right and subscriber numbers will continue to increase, get it wrong and you might as well start that inscription for your tomb stone.

It is funny how you don't mention the fact that most of the threads about this issue are actually started by jilted high sec suicide hauler gankers and others who just hate carebears. In fact, I would say most of these threads have been started by these people who have nothing to do but spam the forums everyday and are just looking for some revenge for the recent adjustments and have little use for actual balance. Ever notice that the same 5 or 6 idiots show up in every single thread of this type and they all admitt that they are high sec pvp types who think their play style is some sort of a profession?
Not to mention in order to need a change, a problem has to be indentified first.
There is no problem in high sec. It is just a handful of posters making a lot of noise trying to create the illusion that a problem exists.

Actually, although Ruze's opinions do differ somewhat from my own, at least he puts them forward in a concise and cohesive way. Keli's is just a blatent troll, and a pretty poor one at that.
It seems high sec "nerfs" are the FOTM at the moment with both sides spewing bile. Personally I think CCP cave a little too much to bear whines and I'd be happy if they didn't. I also understand that they want to create a game makes money. It is their paycheque afterall. I'm not sure how they will reconcile "cold hard evil EVE" and stuff like "pay to grief systems". It's a fine balance and whichever way CCP goes they are bound to pee someone off. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.
Heres hoping they keep the game too hardcore for the mainstream. Eve gives big highs and big lows. Take them away by implementing safety nets all over and EvE becomes a bland game with a crap UI.

In fact if CCP did ban this person, I would personally subscribe a third account for six months, despite having no need for that account.
The name is offensive BTW. Post reported to mods.
