Specifically to level V and the Kronos. Being a 10x multiplier, I am looking at a good bit of time dedicated to getting it at that level.
But the damage of having 8 turrets in 4 slots, the tracking bonus of the mega mixed with the rep bonus of the hyp, the room in highs for a drone link/salvager/tractor beam. Also less PG usage so more room in rigs and meds for non-cap related modules. Even potentially a cap stable dual repper.
It seems very promising, but I am still reluctant. Thoughts? |

I am one for Solo PvE, so i'll take that as a go ahead. Marauders to IV seems easy enough, it's just the 5th level that seems questionable in terms of time efficiency.
And yes Boz i have all the pre-req's for it, i just have to buy the skill. But, to clarify, a navy mega or Vindi can rival the dps? |

Drone regions may have been an exception to this rule, but as they're getting nerfed in a month, I wouldn't waste my time on Marauders.
I am aware of the stats, but what explains the higher killing speed of pirate bs's over marauders? |

I should note that I am in Sansha space, so shield tanking with Gallente is out of the question.
So after reading all these posts, i'm getting the feeling that the two are relatively equal. Again, not in guritas space so the ECM's aren't there, just tracking disruptors.
The vindi gets better damage, sensor strength (although terrible tracking range for rails which i plan on using).
So basically to help the advice:
In Sansha space I use rails. Mainly run Mag/Radar/DED/unrated
Does this make a more clear choice? |

Dyniss wrote:What is needed is a retooling of marauders as the game has changed since their introduction. I feel honestly the tractor bonus is silly as it still takes forever to salvage with a single salvager perhaps just scrap that and the armor rep bonus and add a resistance bonus per level? And to make up for the loss of the tractor bonus perhaps a boost to its drone bandwidth and bay size? Opinions?
I agree with you. In my honest opinion, i think it's pretty dumb that a ship that takes a month and a half more to use (if you're going to V) is only better in certain situations than one that requires much less time to use for about the same price.
If it were up to me i'd do one of these two things:
Increase drone bay by 25 m3 (5 Garde's and 5 Hobgoblin's would be insane.) Reduce the training multiplier to 7-8x
Thoughts? |

Joyelle wrote:I'll say it again " marauders are crap ". Their tank is about a notch over that of their t1 counterparts while other t2 variants usually have tanks that are five notches above t1 variants. The only thing going for them are the additional bonuses but it doesn't warrant training for the damn thing. Nowadays, the only reason one gets into one is because you had nothing else to train for or you just aren't informed.
So what would you recommend in terms of buffs to give them that "ultimate subcapital solo PvE ship" title? That is what marauders were supposed to be right? I do believe they require the most time devotion subcap |

Haha let's get back on topic here:
Is the marauder worth the time invest (to V). If not, could it use a buff? If so, how? |

Depends on the Marauder and what the Marauder skill does: * Paladin: 5% damage bonus * Golem: 7.5% TP bonus * Kronos: 7.5% bonus to tracking * Vargur: 7.5% bonus to tracking Vargur laughs at Marauder V. Golem can get by without it due to large volley damage, meaning it's not likely that increasing the target's sig a tad bit more will save you a volley. Kronos, can't speak for it, but I would lead towards 'no' since tracking can be mitigated with flying or modules. Paladin is the only one that "needs" it. As for buffing Marauder V, the only way to buff it (i.e. make it desirable) is to make Marauder V a prerequisite for something else.
Well for the kronos you also get the 7.5% repair bonus. And i mean marauders in general. Are they good enough or do they need a buff? |

So Liang, in your judgement, should I train marauders to V for solo PvE in null sec sansha space? (DED/unrated, mag, radar, belts, etc) |
