1. If you cannot put your point across in the subject and 3-4 lines, do not bother. Only very few people will read your post and write meaningful replies. Walls of text are especially bad.
2. Avoid capital letters in the subject, people will expect similar (annoying) writing style in the body.
3. Learn to distinguish between "it's" and "its", "there" and "their", "rediculous" and "ridiculous". It's easy, even for a non-native speaker and you will avoid looking like a ****** (mistyping it once is OK, getting it wrong 10 times in 1 post is bad).
4. Do not open up new threads just to post something that has been posted multiple times in another thread even if it's the current whining FotM in your own infantile language.
5. Completely misleading subjects to draw attention are OK if they are funny enough and if the actual post isn't the current whining FotM.
6. Do not post new subjects about something interesting you've just found if you aren't keeping up with EVE-O all the time, you will just be the 10th to post that funny youtube link and it will make you look stupid.

I would like to add "they're" to the list along with "there" and "their".
Also, remember that a "hanger" is that thing that holds your shirts in your closet, a "hangar" is where you keep an airplane (or spaceship in this case).

That's assuming that the only reason for posting is to get response posts. If, on the other hand, you actually have something significant to say, then say it.
Yes, the mouth-breathers celebrating their anti-intellectualism will crow about their inability to concentrate for the time it takes to apply their hooked-on-phonics lessons to a post longer than a knock-knock joke. Yes, the usual suspects will shamble into the thread with their textual equivalents of hand-in-the-armpit-fart-noises. Just ignore them.
Far more people read here than post here. Post for those silent lurkers, otherwise the knuckle-walking troglodytes will inherit the forums when we sufficiently dumb this place down to the point that nobody else bothers.
