My corp maintains a "warehouse" hanger and in this hanger is every component needed to build our provisioned bpcs. This input hanger never changes.
It would be good if the S&I acted more like a manufacturing management tool. In the case above I could designate the warehouse hanger as a permanent input source. Whenever I started a build job, this input source would be automatically selected.
Same for an output destination.
Following on, material requirement calculation could be done for a bpc via show-info, rather than via a start job attempt. And / or an bpc could be coloured differently if there are not enough materials in the designated input source.
Or, if a hanger contains bpcs/bpos, a summary page is available which calculates how much of each material type is required to build every single run (1 run for bpos maybe) in the hanger. If there is a designated input source, those figures are compared to the materials available in that input source hanger.

SHOPPING LISTS!!! It would be nice to get a shopping list of materials needed for a given set of blueprints. I'm not sure how others operate, but I usually save up a variety of invented BPCs then go and do a huge shopping trip once a month or so. I find I spend insane amounts of time trying to figure out what I need to buy and how much in order to keep me busy for the next month.
For example, I may have 40 bpcs I want to build which may include, 5 Zealot BPCs, 20 Scorch BPCs 5 Laser BPCs, and 10 heatsink BPCs. each one differing in ME levels and remaining copies (i.e. 1 zealot bpc has 5 runs and an me of -5, while another has an ME of -6 and has 10 runs left). As it stands, I have a complex array of spreadsheets to help me figure out totals of what I need to buy on my monthly shopping spree. It literally takes hours to go through all the different bpcs, copy the required materials and amounts for a single run, get the total number of runs left, enter them, do some math... go crazy.
Solution: Highlight the bpcs you want to build, right-click and say make shopping list (or, make new tab in the S&I window titled Shopping Lists). I then get an output that can be copied and pasted into a note, or possibly an evemail (char limit would hurt) with everything required to build the batch of BPCs selected. It would be ok to assume that the skills of the char used to create the list were also the ones used for calculating the quantities needed. A provision for pos or station manufacturing would have to be figured out. If you wanted to get super fancy, you could also take into account the amount of material you had in your items bay and subtract that from the total needed for shopping. Another fancy schmancy feature would be for the shopping list to have links to everything I wanted to buy so that I could right-click it and select show market details.
Idea B: Decryptors!!! How about meaningful descriptions on them. If I use decryptor X, how will it affect the ME, PE, and total runs. Also, when starting an invention job, why not only list the decryptors pertinent to the job at hand? Why do I have select from all the decryptors in my items bay? If I'm inventing an autocannon, I dont want to see amarr decryptors listed (even though it gives you an error after you select it).
Idea C: S&I Installation tab!!! It would be nice if I could sort by Bay Status. i.e. only show me stations that have at least one bay that is not in use, or, only show me stations that will have a bay available within the next 5 days. (I'd really like a button that would let me automatically create an empty bay just for me in my station of choice, but I suppose that is going a little far.)
That does it for now, sorry if its a little disorganized. it was just a brain dump.

- BPC Stacking - In the S&I tab, have the client collapse BPCs with the same stats into a stack of BPCs so we don't have to scroll down through each one to get to the next BPC type.
Personally I'd like to take this further. Have them stack in the main hangar(s) Items tab as well as just the S&I tabs, and just as we currently have a bar with a number in it for the number in the stack, have one above it which is the number of runs left.
I find it really irritating when I have to select a blueprint for manufacturing, select an installation, and then have to go and do Show Info to try and find the number of runs left (or worse if I have lots of identical copies and one that is reduced runs, try and find the one I was using beforehand, give up, and just use one randomly).
However I don't use the blueprints tab except when working remotely, which perhaps says much for how easy I have found it in the past; I've tended to go straight from Items and right-click, because it's already there instead having to open S&I and navigate.
As a totally random thought, if this were feasible, you could have the BPOs do the same with a little infinite symbol, and hey presto, you can distinguish BPOs and BPCs. However I'm prepared to bet that runs left is a look-up that takes time and therefore can't be done in the Items tab
As an alternative, could the manufacturing run default to the number of runs left on the BPC - or better yet have a slider between 1 and max? That would at least cut out the middle step of going back and checking which max runs this BPC has this time.
Even if not feasible, can't hurt to ask. ___ My views may not represent those of my corporation, which is why I never get invited to those diplomatic parties... Environmental Effects

A further thought would be the blueprint tab availability - at present it only covers your current region. Whilst this is fine most of the time, as you can only do anything useful with a blueprint whilst in the region, sometimes I do want to actually see what blueprints I have when not in the region - i.e a universe-wide view - for example, how many runs of that do I have, do I actually have that as a blueprint at the moment, what types of minerals/components does that one use again? and so on...
Since this search is undoubtedly going to take longer you could have a range filter. ___ My views may not represent those of my corporation, which is why I never get invited to those diplomatic parties... Environmental Effects

Edited by: Macmuelli on 01/10/2008 21:54:26 It would be handy tosplit up the item hangar and can connect it to station services. ( skill based + depended on the station and his services)
pa example: item hangar 1 is connected to the reprocess service at the station . Upon a timer, i can setup , the station starts reprocessing the loot inside. Minerals out of the reprocessing going automaticly inside the connected Production hangar.
Adding a Bpc to the Production hangar open the way to let it start producing by his own, if all needed material are inside it. (from reprocessing + placing inside).
Connecting the production hangar to an item/ ship hangar etc. Brings the produced stuff directly inside the hangars.
It would make everything much easier.
perhaps it works.

I just want one simple thing: Please make the blueprint list as icons or a text list. I hate the overhead of loading the icons for all the bpo/bpc's that I have.
BP API, or a simple export of the blueprint list, would be my biggest wish. (Like you didn't already know that though.)

How about getting rid of the remote job limit that restricts jobs to maximum same system x jumps away? It makes no sense to be 1 jump away in another system and not be able to install jobs. Surely distance restrictions should be limted in a radial effect from the lab's location not the system.

market search function should search within the description and match it to items on the market, eg if i type Afterburner it should display the Hydrazine Boosters as well. same should go for the assets. it should search WITHIN containers. have a sort function for the inventory, eg: display all ore and minerals only, all modules only, all highslot modules only, all ammunition only. the more the better.

Ok well I started a thread about the UI but did not seem to get any response from any devs...so I thought maybe I would try here. If this is the wrong place then I'm sorry and you can yell at me :p
While this is not for the market, contracts, missions, station menus, or anything like that...it is for the UI when flying a ship so it does have to do with UI.
My idea was for an Optional Dashobard for the readouts of your modules while you are in a ship. I made this to help solve the problem of seeing them while in a bright system so that the player would not have to rotate thier view to find a dark spot in space, something that takes away precious seconds while in a combat situation.
What this would involve is an image placed behind the readouts to give them something to contrast against. The player could have several to choose from or none at all for those that do not want it. While really just a dark color would suffice, I felt that some would like a dashboard look to it to liven up the inside since we spend so much time in our ships.
Here is an example image I made to show excactly what I mean, please forgive the crudeness...I am not a graphics designer and I'm sure the Devs can do much better.
As you can see this would greatly improve the ability to see what modules are turned on and how much cap you have left, vital information while in combat, while still allowing the player to see things below and to the right. I have made several more examples that can be viewed on this thread that were met with favorable response from other players.
Optional Dashboard
Thank you for your time.

Not sure if this has been brought up anywhere else, couldn't see it so here goes.
I've started really getting into trading and two things I would love to see changed on the UI 1. On the market screen a button next to "Place Buy Order" that says "Add to Market Quickbar" 2. An extra field to enable you to sort your buy and sell orders by Region.

Regarding the Blueprints tab of the S&I interface.
1) Make it multi-tabbed. one tab for each print location. Hanger for one and one for each Can you have of prints. 2) in each tab add the Icon, List w/ Icon & List view buttons that are on standard cargo cans. 3) Color prints by BPO/BPC on their icons. Perhaps on the text when in List mode. 4) Allow multi-select to add for manuf / invention, etc. 5) Allow drag & drop to and from this interface to other legal destinations 6) Auto-select next available Manuf slot. 7) Auto-Group identical prints (in this interface only). 8) For copies, indicate which are Max run and which are not. (Invention aide)
Ok tear it up folks. :)

Hi,
Loving the UI changes on sisi so far, but there are 2 changes that would really make me and many people (with poor eyesight or not) happy bunnies!
* font The current font choices are just very hard to read, especially if you play at 1920x1200. sure you can make them a bit bigger in chat, but the actual hardcoded 'weight' of the font is just very bad for reading.
* Chat Layout It would be fantastic if in the chat channel, the players names on the left could be aligned to a column, like in IRC so that you've always got a straight line to read against. If this happened, it would alleviate some of the problems with reading the font.
Thanks for all the great work anyway, the UI is getting better and better!

i have just started some small scale maunfacturing (mainly for myself) one one probelm i have is when i am setting up a job, if i want to know if i have the minerals/components to do X number of runs i have to put in the number of runs, then click the get quote button to see if i have enough. i would liek a way to see this info without having to go to the quote screen and sometimes i need to increase/decrease the number of runs depending on if im short or have enough when i want to have it run as many times as possible. perhaps you your change that initial instal jog screen to include the quote window so that as i modify the job it updates. also, one the quote screen, it doesnt show what is needed per run, only the total for installing the job, could you please modify it to show the time per run and materials needed per run

I wouldn't mind having the ability to "tag" or "mark" objects/targets in the overview. Maybe change the background color for that object's background color in the overview, or even just some kind of icon or something to show it's been marked. Would be great for marking trigger ships in missions so we wouldn't have to constantly keep an eye on that ship (or ships in some cases). Would also work in PvP to mark ships in some kinda of killing order or something, I dunno. Kinda along the same lines as broadcasting a target, but more useful in solo.

Research Graphs
I would love to see a new window made for researchers.
With Science and Industry Tab open the player can submit a blueprint into the simulator.
This window would show a graph depicting how much of thier research is effecting the stats on the blueprint, the player can then move a slide (they'll see the purposed levels in a window somewhere) and hit a button called 'simulate.' The simulate button will open a new information window with the blueprints original, new, and the difference stats.
This is ultimately going to be a helpful tool for new and old players alike trying to find that magic 'pratical' research to level.

Think I've read all the suggestions here, but might have slipped, rephrasing an old suggestion.
Still, here we go
For moon mining, you are able to link moon miners to reactors, silo's etc etc.
Would it be possible to do something of the same for mobile labs, factories etc etc?
I would really really like it if I were able to goto my corp hangar at the POS, select the copy I wanna invent from, and then select which lab to use etc etc.
Same goes for manufacturing (modules and small stuff): linking input to factory from corp hangar, and output back there too would be really nice.
That would save me the work of having to goto the lab/factory, move the materials needed to the right lab/factory, then select blueprint....
Not sure how it could be done - assuming labs/factories either need a "tick box" for linking it to corp hangar array, or a module that adds the link (with light reqs/fast anchoring/onlining time - anchoring stuff already takes a ****load of time :P)
Also VERY VERY much for the idea to que up jobs, only using a "personal" slot when it's actively being performed. (cueing up 20 invention jobs at one lab line only uses one of your invention slots)

One option for example, is create proyects. One proyect is a folder, where you put, i'm going to manufacture this bpo, with 20 runs. In that folder, you put your bpo, and you can see how many items you need for create you 20 runs. All that you need. Later when you have all, you can manufacture the "folder" and automatical, you start the job with the properties that you stablish when you create your proyect.
One example:
I'm goint to create a Paladin. Ok, the paladin is a T2 BS. Maybe when you start to create your proyect the proyect ask to you: you need build the t1 item necessary for construction? yes. And the proyect count not the apoc, however the minerals that you need to build the apoc, multiplicated for all the runs of paladin that you need, and the runs of bpo/bpc that you need. Then when you put all the material on your folder. Left button and, start job. And the job, in this case, manufacture, starts.
Maybe you need invent 2 items. Ok you select the item to invent, and the the secound, you puts the bpc into the folder, and the datacores necesary, ant start job. You start at same time 2 inventions.
If you only can use one slot, the proyect ask to you if you want one inventionfollowing the other.
It's a good system to organice your jobs. And if you want, you dont lost your proyect, and for the next time you can use it. Like your favourite jobs. Maybe you can send a bill of materials to another player with an eve-mail.
