I'm certain this is the real reason for the reset and has absolutely nothing to do with the impending assault on catch from -A- and Goons.

So you are implying that AAA needs help from the Goons with us? I know some -A- would take offence to that
Fighting -A- AND Goons, 2 of the most feared Alliances in EvE is an honour and a test of steel.
What did you do today?

ah well ;O not as if there was any point in staying blue after -A- reset, interesting part will be if TCF will stay blue to IAC or not

So can someone give the real backstory here? This is pretty interesting on a bunch of different levels and there are some fairly far-reaching implications.
- Feels like Goons and IAC have been blue forever, as two of the older surviving anti-Bob entities. IAC was a crucial part of the anti-Bob coalition, taking the brunt of multiple MC and Bob assaults over the years. IAC was the Coalition meatshield as Goons rolled up the regions Bob abandoned in the South. IAC was then the staging point for the invasions of Querious and Delve.
- It's tough to believe that some Kraftwerk pew-pew alone could have destroyed that relationship unless there was a whole raft of underlying tensions. Anyone care to explain?
- One by one, many of IAC's most important friends have decided they no longer want to be friends. AAA, and now Goons. Give IAC credit for surviving (for now) surrounded by reds, but is this the last straw?
- Will TCF now reset IAC as well?
- Goons and AAA are still blue with each other. In all the fighting between AAA and IAC, AAA hasn't seemed to really want to wipe IAC out, just kick them around a bit. Does that change now?
- Goons have said they intend to invade, or at least harrass, Querious. How does this effect that plan, if it is really happening?
So what's the real story folks?

per most of that, it would probably have something to do with the leadership of both alliances :) IAC is a lot different than before, as are the goonies really. I think once Sesfans active days were done a new chapter started over there.. as for IAC, well. I'm pretty sure my/humbles run followed by TT's funny shit sorta made that alliance smaller, weaker, and more entertaining. I still love yall though <3

i don't think this makes any real difference at all, unless it affects TCF standings
none of the IAC people who had relationships with goonswarm are in IAC anymore and there's no likelyhood of the two alliances working together since the -A- reset
was basically just a blue that outlived its reasons for existing, and IAC was silly enough to bring attention to it

Let's have a go, although you should consider posting with your main to raise this kind of topic. I do not speak for AAA official policy, just as a disclaimer before we get started =]
Originally by: Sunshine Katy - Feels like Goons and IAC have been blue forever, as two of the older surviving anti-Bob entities. I can't really comment in depth on IAC's involvement in delve, as I wasn't present there myself in any great amount. However, our experiences with them left a great deal to be desired in mcbob's invasion of FAT. Arach/Tyrrax/Zeraph/whatever's double trading of intel, perhaps on purpose loss of a mothership, badly timed pos etc during this period all has a kind of different feel to it with hindsight. IAC's achievements, or lack of, can't really be evaluated purely on face value with this in mind.
I'd suggest that we were something of a meatshield also during some of the southern ops done by the then RSF - our attacks in querious paved the way for its occupation by people like IRON and forced a several front war. Its effectiveness is open to debate, but was fun at the time.
One thing that came up while wondering whether to keep IAC blue or not was - how much time would they buy us if we did face a max-style invasion of catch. The bottom line was, not a lot. Following the above mentioned experiences in catch, I don't think anyone really took them seriously as an ally. That was basically the end - the things that started emerging about IAC's leadership around the same time also didn't help. If we'd had a more solid relationship with some of the people in the campaign, then maybe things would have been different. Hard to tell at this distance.
Originally by: Sunshine Katy - It's tough to believe that some Kraftwerk pew-pew alone could have destroyed that relationship unless there was a whole raft of underlying tensions. Anyone care to explain?
From what I can tell, Hachou and friends have been getting rather fond of laying it on a bit thick with some people, and while we are not on talking terms just now, I can't imagine they've been a model of diplomacy with others going on that performance. Check in with CVA about their current relationship with them, for example.
Originally by: Sunshine Katy - One by one, many of IAC's most important friends have decided they no longer want to be friends. AAA, and now Goons. Give IAC credit for surviving (for now) surrounded by reds, but is this the last straw?
They have done ok - but I think the decision to invest alliance isk in upgraded outposts instead of a serious cap fleet over the last few months might prove to be a fatal one, if it comes to that. They're actually quite a strong group of players, and as you say they've not totally folded up and crawled away to die, so lets see what happens.

Come now, let's be real.
The reason issued by Goons for this change is complete Malarky and we all know it.
This reset has been in the plans for a couple weeks, and was confirmed to me by someone in the know three days ago. Not only the impending reset, but a "new ally" against IAC.
All I can say, is I feel honored to get the opportunity to fight against even more formidable foes, however -A- I still consider to be the "Top Dawg" on the block.
Kraftwerk have only at best been a target of opportunity when they fight our roaming gangs.
Times change, and changes are interesting. So let's just leave it...
May you live in interesting times.
See you on the grid (hopefully it loads.)
