I am really indifferent to this potential change.
What I do have an opinion on is that this will not be the Holy Grail that T1 producers think it will be. They will still have similar margins to what they have now. If there is a shortage in the supply of t1 modules more producers will enter into production. This will cause the same "glut" of T1 modules that many a T1 builder cries about on the market causing them to have lousy margins.
Besides no matter what is done there will allows be people who have FREEEEE!!! minerals...l......... --

I gave up long ago trying to explain that to people, just like how their minerals are FREEEEE!!!.
Sadly as in RL there are many people who dont see "Cause and Effect" in every action that occurs around them. They fail to see the long term picture, nor the bigger picture.
In their pursuit to change the game for what they percieve to be their idealised instant isk making machine. They fail to realise what changes will do on the mass scale, and really they will just be living in the same world but now with a new and improved flavor of envy. --

Miners have an adverse effect on their own profit.
Routinely I have bought Ore and Refined minerals in huge bulk numbers anywhere from 20-40% below their Jita value. Sadly most are not macro miners, just people who consider their efforts below "market" value. --

Complete or Compete?
pretty sure you mean compete, but with complete it sort of makes it a whole other argument. --

This has been my impression as well. OFC I dont have proof, since I have never bothered to keep data for t1 loot drops per mission, every mission for comparision. --

Originally by: Von Kroll Why not just use skills to manipulate the useage of T1 items? For example, Standard Missile Lvl 1 gives you the ability to use a standard launcher I only. Raise the skill to lvl 2 and then you can use a Malkuth. Do this all the way through the Arbalest at lvl 5, and then T2 at specialization.
Do that with all the named modules/weapons. I haven't been playing long, but it doesn't seem to me that a noob with a fat wallet should have access to Arbalest launchers anyway since its practically T2 capability at level 1 of the standard missile skill.
This should create more of a market for un-named T1 gear, right?
You would think so, but some of the "named" T1 items are not really an upgrade preformance wise over their T1 base. Granted some of them have slightly better fitting requirements but that is not always the problem. --

True, but I do like the idea of making the skill reqs for items more logical than they are now.
IMO there should be advanced skills for all t2 items and levels 1-5 for the t1/meta-level items. It would definitely increase the demand for lower meta-level items a small bit and also reward skill training into specific areas. A few new advanced skills would be needed for this, but that's OK as long as the skills are released a while before the reqs change (to give people time to get their skills where they need to be).
I think at the same time the meta levels in total need to be addressed. With all the tweaking that has occured over the years, it is really strange but sometimes you see a meta 12 being better than a meta 14. I think this mostly has occured when there is a blanket nerf over faction, deadspace, or officer gear without everything else being tweaked in accordance. --
