My agent gave me an exequror 1 run bpc so I tried and made one. I must say I am quite disappointed with this ship.
It has some cargo, but not much more than an imicus, it is slow, and it has no capacitor, so when you use MWD and AB to jump gate, the next system you run out of energy. With my skills it doesn't even fit 4 miner 1 (yes miner 1) without helper modules.
The drone bay is 800m3 which is the lowest for a gallente cruiser.
Really I use it as cargo for 500m3 missions but I find it is a poor usage for a cruiser.
What did I miss? Can anyone tell me the strong point of this ship?
Except price and that it needs cruiser 1 of course, because a probe or an imicus do the same job for 20 times less money and much less skill training if you want to look it that way.

You do not need a CPU booster to fit 4 Miner 1. The Exequror has 250 CPU at the base level. That is quite enough to fit 4 Miner 1. You need help in fitting other stuff.
Assuming Electronic IV you have 300 CPU. Add a Co-Proc 1 and you have 321 CPU. Allocate 240 to 4 Miner 1. That leave 81 CPU for other stuff. An afterburner needs 25 CPU leaving 56 CPU for ore stuff.
The slot layout is 4/4/3. You'll have 3 spare medium and 2 spare low. How about slapping some nanofiber mod in those two lowslots for added speed. Roid scanner and some sensor boosters maybe? or maye try and fit 1MN MWD + 1 10MN AB and 2 cap recahrger.
Fill the drone bay with mining drones or combat depending on need.
There you have it, a nice littel entry level mining cruiser.
And I've never flown one myself. It sounds decent to me considering the price etc.

The Maulus have 175cpu and costs 150k. 4 Miner 1 is not decent for a cruiser but 4 miner 2 would be ok. 320cpu with starting skills I don't see how you can do that.
If you have the skills to get 320cpu on an exequror then you can probably afford a vexor or a thorax which are much better for mining.
And I didn't mention you can't fight in an exequror also since it has no good armor.

I am tempted to train up and use an Exequror for combat just to prove you wrong. Ofc you can fight in it.
And why would a person not be able to have Electronic IV and a Co-proc 1 when he can fly an Exequror? It's not like it takes ages to get Electronic IV. Aside, the Exequror will survive longer than a Maulus in lower secruity due to its ability to tank better. Drones make good defence too.
Why do people see so many limites. Why moan "It is not as good as Vexor/Thorax etc etc". Ofc it is not, it is a tier 1 cruiser. The cheapest cruiser around for gallenten. For what it cost and what it does it is a good cruiser. Else I'll gladly continue your argument by saying "but a dominix is better than a thorax, and the megathron". Sure different ship classes, but so is the Malus and Exequror.
Give it to a new player. I am sure he/she will absolutly love it.

Its actually the best t1 Cruiser, because it has most turrets, most grid, most cap, decent hitpoints, decent speed, huge dronebay und it is cheap.
I smell a nerf

It's a good cheap ninja miner. 4x miner 2, couple of co-processors, mwd and cap relays/cap rechargers. Good cargo.
Just disable the miners and enable the mwd when you are on the move, and enable the miners/disable the mwd when you are mining.
You can make shed loads of isk and look cool at the same time

Your skills need upgrades not the ship. Its a great t1 and you can fit 4 XeCLs which you should on a cruiser anyways if you go into dangerous spawning belts to mine so you cap won't die. -----

Still Vexor is a few more hours training and 1Misk more expensive and it is way better... 1200m3 drone bay, more cpu, more armor, more cargo, same speed, one more highslot. Would you seriously recommend Exequror against Vexor to a newbie?

It is worse than a Vexor, no doubt - I remember the day when 1m was alotta isk though. I had an exequror as one of my first ships and I liked it. Trust me it's better than any of the other 3 tier 1 cruisers. 4 mid slots can be nice too - depending on what you are doing.

I have to agree with everyone here. I've flown everything in the galaxy and I enjoy'd the Ex quit a bit while it's no Vexor it is a cheaper overall vessel it still mounts good mining power for a ship as well. The main advantage is simple. You mine faster, you make money quicker and you get a bigger ship easily :) it can also take fire from .5 rats while using it's drones for defense

Sorry, I'm gonna have to disagree with everyone here....
...EXEQUROR IS UGLY!!!
Then again, I think all Caldari and Minmatar ships look ugly, aswell Exequror and Celestis.
Amarr looks the coolest!! Just look at their interceptors, punisher, armageddon. Their cruisers are okay but thorax wins on that account.
Fly with class!! :)

Edited by: Jeswyn on 14/06/2004 18:27:06 I think the tier1 cruisers (Exequoror/Scythe/Osprey) could be quite decent 'mini-indies' or combat tenders if they got a +5/10% cargo increase per level as secondary bonus. They're only so-so fighters, but they usually have a quite large cargohold, while being faster and usually more durable than 'true' cargo ships (Indies). Perfect for 0.0 space cargo runs, *if* it could hold about 500-600m¦ more cargo.
It would only make sense IMO, while bringing some 'variety' into the cruiser class - we have combat frigs, cargo frigs and EW frigs, but only combat cruisers and... uhm, combat cruisers? (except the BB, which would classify as an EW cruiser)

Yes more cargo would be nice. Actually the one use I have found for Exequror is to put cargo expanders on it and AB10+MWD10 and I use it for those 500m3 cargo missions.
But my iteronII with 2 overdrives would go faster if the Exequror didn't have the MWD10 and there comes the problem because it drains the capacitor very fast.

Exequror was my first cruiser back when i was about 2 or 3 weeks old ... had the money for a thorax, but was waiting on skills (took me 2 days to train cruiser level 3 back then, lol) and i saw an exeq, thought it looked cool and so bought one and kitted it out.
And i have to say, i really did love that ship. Ability to fit 4 miner 2's alongside AB etc ... ability to fit some decent guns ... and it's actually got a good cap recharge (better than vexor/omen etc). I remember going out to the city of god (which was impossible in frigate for me at the time) and having some good times collecting tons of loot. I think i had a couple 250mm's and a couple dual 150mm's fitted at the time. Also had a drone bay full of 8 hammers, twice as many as i could control.
Got nostalgic a couple weeks ago and bought one again ... just as fun as it used to be, and with either 150mm rails (leaving lots of grid and cpu for webbers etc) or med electrons/light neutrons, the ship is actually a really nice anti-frig ship. The cap even allows you to run a med booster or 10mn MWD for quite a while with the lows filled with CPRs.
So what potential does it have? Lots.

I used one with 2*MinerII, 2*250mm Rails, 1*Large Shield booster, 2*AB, 1*partial hull mod cargo and 2*marked nanofibers.
No problems in mining at 0.3 (ie herm) space. I found it not worth to put 4 miners, since you can blow up npc rats when you got rails + ammo. SigPl/HQ&Log Coy/MNB(C)/KFOR |

Your agent must not think highly of you then.

Once you get a vexor and/or thorax not much really, but its the entry lvl cruiser and does a fine job in that role. ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |
