What do you expect EVE to be in the future, say, five, ten, fifteen years from now? Will people even still be playing it? What new features will EVE have? I know it's hard to tell but give your best guess, humourous or serious.
Assuming the game is still being played, I assume that by five years DUST will have fully intergrated with EVE. It's hard to tell what that would change because we don't know much about DUST, but I assume it will change the economy and gameplay mechanics by a lot. 'Walking in Stations' would probably be working by then. Perhaps our quarters by then will be more like quarters, maybe even offices and other in-station buildings we can visit or rent. Perhaps by then our ships crew will have a bigger impact on gameplay as well. We could possibly even visit our PI buildings.
Ten years, even bigger things. If it was not already put in, we'll be walking inside of our own ships. We'll have a greatly wider selection of ships to fly. Orbital strike and command ships, boarding party vessels, maybe something even bigger and more unique than the Titan, if that's even possible. If the population grows enough we'll have to widen our map a bit.
Fifteen years from now, if my thoughts on the matter are correct, the capsuleer population will be large enough to warrent a seperate server, connected to a completly different star cluster. Maybe it would be the Milky Way? Would we get the EVE Gate working again, or find another one like it? Either that or nobody would be playing anymore. Also, depending on how much our technology increases and how affordable it would be, we'll have a different interface besides our normal keyboard, mouse and screen.
That's enough for now. Excuse any spelling mistakes I might have made. Your thoughts?
(maybe I was a little too optimistic in these ideas.) |

Oh yeah....and they finally give up on Ambulation because CCP figures that pod pilots really only need their brains to fly spaceships. Therefore, all pods have been reduced to the size of a large microwave oven. |

10 years from now? Hmm. The other racial captain's quarters are added. EvE players quit in rage as they realize their 64 core video cards can't handle the processing requirements. Two weeks later, players are provided a much nicer door to look at as an apology. |

Gameplay styles in the game will no doubt have shifted dramatically, as most things that get done in the game will need to be able to fit into the brief windows of uptime and be accomplished despite the continually destabilizing user interface. |

the processing power of computers doubles about every 1.5 years. in 5 years CQ will run 30fps on stock computers. in 10 years im guessing we will have walking in station, Dust 514 ported to next gen consoles or remade into a better shooter. Eve City 3000 for PI
im guessing eve will have to be recoded sooner or later to allow hex core processors to run optimally as well utilize 12gb of ram.
almost all ships would be reskinned too most likely
this is assuming CQ and incarna doesnt kill eve slowly |

In the future -
We will all have 3-D printers in our homes and be able to print out our NeX-wear for actual ownership and use.
As part of a games-wide True Virtuality Initiative, adult-content becomes acceptable. Space-ships gain special parts.
CCP becomes a financial services company and API keys are tied to one's bank account. Prices across the board are normalized such that ships really do cost billions of dollars and jeans really are $17.50. Governments begin to play and budget for the game. Eventually world peace is realized (except in EVE).
Gold-sellers, being required to sell actual gold (or its value thereof), cease to be Gold-sellers.
Players stop warping into Amarr stargates as opposed to warping to Amarr stargates (sorry, had to put that in here).
The hollow planet theory is proven to be false.
People-in-stations complain loudly enough about the subliminal whooshes of ships going through their heads that pilots must now get well-clear before going into warp.
Players can enter The World of Darkness directly from EVE (even using the same characters) by plugging into an EVE virtuality matrix. Game companies all over the world clamor to be a part of this network. All games, essentially, become EVE.
Walking-in-ships becomes a reality.
Um, that's all that I can think of before breakfast. "Is it okay to quote yourself in your own signature?" ---Me |

in all honesty, i expect CCP to be sold or bankrupt in 5 years.
That is not what i wish, don't get me wrong. But currently they are devoting all of their resources into oversaturated markets with Dust and World of Darkness. Without a name you can't get big there. And the Q&A of CCP just isn't at a competetive level when facing franchises like Call of Duty, Battlefield, or World of Warcraft.
Eve is unique, that's why it's good. A small idea for a technically already aged shooter like Dust doesn't make it special enough to hold up against the existing competition. The iterative and bug-tolerating design philosophy of CCP will be their death on the console market. If their release of Dust has a quality similar to the eve expansions, game magazines will rip it apart and it simply won't sell. There's just no CoD bonus to expect here.
Best of luck, I'll stick around, as long as it works out. |

5 or 10 ...15 whatever, old buggs still there, new stuff and new buggs added to the old ones.
Caldari will have the faction Drake 10high slots 8launchers, 8meds and 6 lows, base ehp 150K and base speed 100m/s
Minmatar will receive a slight boost to their base speed and amo, also tracking and range.
Amarr will recieve an extra +2% all resists on their tier 5 Bs, 50% reduction cap consumption, 10% dmg-ºoptimal per level
Gallente are too fotm for cheap wrecks, no need to buff them, maybe reduce a little bit the pg and cap and get away the falloff plus increase the rof and recharge time for about 10%
That's it. |
