True - your position defines the point of view. But isn't that the nature of the rock/paper/scissors principle Eve is built on?
Yes it is, but it's irrelevant to the discussion. We're talking about the most feared battleship. Rock/paper/scissors does not apply. A quote from a Star Wars novel springs to mind:
"I maintain that the effectiveness of the Star Destroyer stems from not only its massive firepower, but from its size. When citizens look at a Star Destroyer and then compare it to the craft which might be mustered to attack it, they have a tendency to dismiss such a notion as suicidal rather than approach the problem tactically." ―Moff Wilhuff Tarkin[src]
This is what fear(and the thread) is about: perception. We're looking at ships that people are afraid of, so much so that effective counters are often overlooked due to the supreme effectiveness of the ship. Passive/buffer setups are quite common these days and three out of the four races have effective weapons that need zero cap(drones, missiles, projectiles). The Bhaalgorn is easily countered and many see it as a juicy killmail waiting to happen.
Take the pre-"nos nerf" Domi and Curse, the Vagabond, Scorpion, Falcon, etc. These ships make people shit enough bricks that they constantly whine for nerfs until they happen.
I suppose the "overpowered" FOTM ship is the one that begets the most fear.

Being Gallente I tend to favour the Megathron with its 7 turret slots and 2 launcher slots. 6 Blasters and 2 Siege launchers along with 5 heavy drones can put a load of hurt on anyone.

An Abaddon is probably my most feared, along with the Megathron. For the common ships, at any rate.
Ship I fear the most, straight out? A Nightmare or Machariel.

I notice some people mentioning Nightmare and Mach. I understand the point from Nightmare, but why Mach? Due to the speed of the battleship?

megathron / navy issue megathron ***drools at the thought of a navy issue megathron*****
the first battleship i saw when i undocked the first time in duripant, i undock, and there is a megatrhon with rail guns blasting at a target some 50km away, i instantly fell in love with it, it was so damn huge, impressive firepower, everything *drools some more**
ever since then i told myself "i will have a megathron" and have now had one for a very long time, it hasnt died yet
**wipes drool away from face**

Webber and neut bonus combined is quite impressive I'd say...
Yes its bonuses are impressive, however it is nearly impossible to fit. It does look utterly awesome though, so I will admit it inspires fear in those who encounter it. (since it will have to be fit with top of the line faction/deadspace stuff, full T2 doesn't even come close to fitting on that thing)

If you ask the npc ships the answer is Raven.
If you are looking for pvp then depends on number of ships and the skill of the pilot. If you consider Scorps are the most feared ships then 1v1 they may not get hit by jamming and the worst they can do is sc**** your new paint job ...
If you consider sniping or upclose and personal ships the equation changes for each .. |

1) Scorpion. ECM = win. Any questions?
2) Armageddon. 90% of a blasterthron's firepower with 60km range. And just to add insult to injury, with insurance it's so cheap even if you kill it you haven't really hurt the other guy.
3) Raven. Every support pilot's worst nightmare is a cruise Raven and its 250km sphere of death. Life as a Falcon pilot gets a lot more interesting (and usually short) with a couple of these around.

This. I'd also add Abaddon to the list - a bit less damage output than Geddon but it takes a whole lot of damage input to take it out of the fight. -- Gradient forum |

It all depends on the situation, I must say that the Nightmare has impressed me tremendously, super high DPS even at long range, combine that with some decent scouts and a tackler and you can take out alot of shit coming through a gate.
When it comes to normal Bs I like setting up hitpoint tanks and remote reps (drones and reppers).
And lately Ive been flying around in a ship I always thought sucked for pvp, but turned out to be quite versatile when fitted and used properly, namely the Raven. Ive fitted it out as a HAC/Recon killer and alot of people dont expect that raven in the belt to put 2 heavy neuts on you and tear you ship apart in 3 volleys, perfect bait. Add some ECCM to that and Mr. Falcon pilot will have to warp out quite rapidly as the first Paradise cruisemissiles take out his shield..
Your question has no 1 answer, it all depends on the situation, what do you have, what do they have etc.
0.0 and empire fittings are different too.

Because if your not at a gate in your Battleship for example and meet a nano fitted Mach, you nothing more than fuked, as long the Mach pilot knows what he's doing.
But yeah, the Nightmare is pretty insane tbh. But that's only when it have Officer or Deadspace stuffs fitted.

Regular BS: Armageddon (or Abbadon, or Apoc if I'm in a smaller ship counting on range). High DPS, awesome range. Torp Ravens (They hurt. They hurt at range. In fact, if they load Javs, they hurt at a lot of range.)
Faction BS: all well setup faction BS scare me.
Btw, a note on the Blaghorn - after seeing one with T2 trimarks + HG slaves + etc, well - it's a nasty ship

That and just look at it, its design is pretty scary.

Only considering T1 non faction BS : Scorpion for ECM ability Raven agains NPC Megathron for pure close range DPS Arma for cheap med range DPS Abaddon for med range DPS and easyness to fit Tempest for long range alpha strike Apocalypse for sniping Dominix for close combat (need drone skills and have to be neut fited) Typhoon for speed...
As you can see almost all BS can be the "most feared". Depend on the situation/fit/pilot's skills/etc.
