Nice ideas, very nice.
Not personally convinced on the need for "personal labs" or the lab capital ship: one already exists - pos labs. If people are too cheap to use them, or too stupid to leave the hisec hubs, they deserve to queue. The capital would have to be deployed for weeks to get any benefit, I feel, and the other bonuses seem a bit nonsensical - energy transfers?
I love SOE exploration ships t1/t2, although Im not convinced there really needs to be more than one of each.
Lastly: your FAQ states that your personal labs cant copy (good) but can research t1/t2 BPC me/pe. That is impossible. BPC me/pe should not and cannot change. You also didnt state whether they can invent or not? _______________________________________________ Mercenary Forces |

Some very nice ideas here, and very well presented.
I for one would like to see science vessels out there in space, and have made ideas threads about it before.
The problem I believe is that CCP development has slowed to a point in eve where they are only making much hyped cosmetic changes these days and not real gameplay development changes.
I do wish you luck at getting noticed by CCP, and even more luck at getting your ideas into the game, because I for one think they would make great additions to the game.

Personal Labs unlike regular labs need materials to operate but they are portable and provide some really quick research at lower levels but as the Blue Prints level rises the more the material costs, its supposed to help out inventors with negative BPOs where the it would be cost effective to research to a level. Some bpcs can also benifit until the 'critical' level can be reached where savings vs costs have to be figured out so a it be an another benifit for those who do thier homework than those who are purely idiots.
The lab capitol ship wont be doing any research at all, the materials or programs by default count as one shot, the capitol ship is able to upgrade these programs up to a certain number of shots, im going for 5 as a number.
POS labs are far more convinent if your willing to put up with the messed up mechanics of fueling the damned things and setting one up and most of the time its not for the individual but small groups of players.
As for the teirs of ships the bonuses between them is to allow the larger teirs to draw more data at a less cost to the sites power supply and being able to use more analyzers at the same time.
Currently I dont think invention would be nessecary the 'metalevel' research would make it overpowered and take more isk away from mission runners.
There is a higher multiplier with researching copies and the formula would be non linear, as the higher the level the far more materials it would need, anything beyond a determined level would be entirely worthless for research though the personal labs while the pos and stations labs will continue to provide thier researchings for a slower and more results.
These personal labs are highly inconvient, you can only do one run at a time, you have to buy the materials (which you can balance the distribution of) and for the tech 2s you got to buy more specific programs other than the standard basic ME PE one which may be locally manufacutred on the other side of the galaxy instead of your next door conveince shop. I think its fair to reward those who put the effort into it than those who are lazy as you quoted earlier but the tech 2 material multiplier really sky rockets after lvl 0 is reached, trying to make any more profit beyond level 0 would be very little. Also buying a personal lab per slot per race and per job type is cost prohibitive that only a corporation or allaince could realize. Personal Labs only provide 1 slot at a time.
But lets say we remove Copies from the personal labs, what use then? Regular labs dont use materials to do the research and the speed bonus alone wont help out for the first 10-20 levels on tech 1 bpos when ive seen people reaching for at least 40 on most bpos.
The overall cost of materials would be alot higher than normal lab researching though on originals but on tech 1 copies should be enough to warrant a few levels of me/pe research before it become cost prohibitive where its no longer useful to research them that the retuns are negative. Those who go though the pos/station labs will always have the edge of being able to do those researches to far higher levels with far less isk and probably time than the other players who have to farm the items or buy them and pay more per level.
not sure if you read those specifics of the idea or left them out but ill try to compress what you wrote into a one liner in faq and try to short answer it.

I wouldnt know either which is why the SOE capitol isnt a mobile research lab, its far more effectivly used as a program enhancing platform making sure programs are better spent more bang for the buck.

with a darker colour scheme, these ships would belong to the black fleet of the warhammer 40k universe. too angular for me.
Flowing asthetic design, or simple scientific is what i would pefer.
But, i like the idea. lets hope ccp likes it too. -------------------------------------------------- If tomorrow technically doesn't exist until it happens, then doesn't that beg the askin if today didn't exist yesterday? |

I didnt know Wh 40k even had ships....
The overall design still lends its self to functionality but I didnt want to drop all of the amarr roots off so added some asetics in and still try to incorporate it as functional parts of the ship.

Well, looking at this we have several things and possibilties for a scientific capitol ship there is a limited pool of abilities to tap into for its use related to science.
Most obvious is mobile labratory - unfourtanly tis could be abusable and not that all appealing whereas a pos would do a better job i this aspect.
Moon Mining/alcheming regular mins into t2 mins - comes to mind, most of the materials needed for tech 2 ships are harvested by the moon.
Mobile Super Beacon - This would allow the ship itself turn into a beacon for any gangmate while its in seige mode allowing for superior range and possibly strength and other things.
Mobile Scanner Array - IMO this would make it to powerful, more solo orinetated, and ultimately too militaristic in role.
Data mine production - mostly going to get tossed out and saved for the hacker ships
Algroithm Copying - this where can be a massive isk saver when utilized, it will still take team work to make it happen and wandering away from the safety of the station and or pos.
THere are many ideas but just trying to find two that work really really well, I hope somone elase comes up with something.

Cloaking fields has an special signatur which will be able to scan down.( to introduce this ship class) The technique behind this is in the beginning is tech I and will be avaiable first.
Frigates are able to scan for a base range like 6 au.(inreaseable via implants/ moduls/ riggs) Scanning time should be based around 5 mintues.( reduceable via skills/ riggs)
Cruiser: are able to scan for a base range like 10 au. (inreaseable via implants/ moduls/ riggs) Scanning time should be based around 5 mintues.( reduceable via skills/ riggs)

The sucess should be low, but worth trying it.
To increase the chance of doing this, adding the special role for this faction ship.
"Connectable scanning network"
U can connect a stronger network, if u are in a gang with serveral ship like this. Upon the numbers the sucess increase.
Spread them out around the system and the network increase.
The battlecruiser gets a special role in this like command ships. He is able to fit a warfare module which can increase the range/ strength and sucess.
These are my minds around a ship class by the sisters of eve. Not much detailed but a start. The possibiltys around something like this are big. U can all time add more diffrent signatures, which open the ways for special cosmic anomalys where u can found base material for ...??

Ship signature size = cloaking field signature size.
- Halo implant set decrease ship signatures, so they will be much more worthfull and used in future - skirmisch warfare will be helpfull
As smaller the cloaking field signature , as smaller the chance to scan it down.
"Connaction scanning network" - modus.
u need a base unit
pa example: - the battlecruiser include the warfare moduls - when the connection modus starts, the other teammembers can open the map, and inside shown up a circle upon there shipsize( and possible scnning range like posted vefore( frigs 6 au /cruisers 10 etc.) -Inside this area the can set a bookmark and warp to it. - then they can connect to the base. If all members are connected to the base the network is avaiable. - The base can start scanning. Sucessfull scanned signatures will be shown up for all gang members inside this squad.
No clue if something like this is possible to code.

Pa example if u have found via scanning such a side, u will be able to anchor this platform. His special role should be scann down the area around it for "fragmented exploration side". Places where u found ship carcasses. or destroeyd stations/ asteriod outpost, from old races. Not s big like the radar sides like eal fragments which are difficult to find. Material out of this "fragment exploration sides" should be "decoded" in this platform only. Scientiest/ crews are needed. <- first step into introfucing ship crews and work for them.
Materials could be used for Tech III- or own datacore building( a second chance getting them away from research agents. via limited run bpcs adapted to actual market pices)
Things like this could introduce realy rare "missions".
Collecting researched fragments via this like a puzzle. In the end u get a "treasure map", which should be a real challenge with an "epic" reward.

I envisioned the SOE ships being civillian entirely in thier direct use now whenever thier concequences of thier actions be militarizable is up to the end user.
So a anti cloaking ship as you will imo isnt best suited for civillian ships. Ill leave that to other more creative tech 2 ships from the 4 empires.
Aside from that there have been talks about players making thier own deadspace dungeons, this is where an SOE ship would shine.
Now you bring up a great idea into my head though, Using SOE ships as probes as well this would create some sort of network and cooperation over a solar system. Now your network idea is more suited for a POS over multiple systems the system wide tracking can be idea for ships trying to zero down hard to find sites.

Well. To let Soe be more civilian it coud bring the ship( "Base") The 4 empires could found a way, using them for scanprobing cloaked ships.

Atm, I personal see no reason to create a deadsspace dungeon by my own, as far i will not make any event out of it. Events are mostly "compressed" to lotteries so far. Things where u had to work a bit, are not much frequented. Perhaps it change with something like this, but i would not bet on it.
I personal think, atm a network over multiple solar system is a bit overpowered , and to early. It should limited first inside solar systems, and make it more sucessfull, founding pa example Deadspace complexes, and perhaps little new created events around it.
