The second acoustic song is simple dark and moody one that quite a few people seem to Like alot.
Im gonna give the singer a call later tonight and ill see if we can get some others up that Im fairly happy with.
and thanks again for all the responses. It means alot to me.

Going to listen to it at home ; D Just a question: Did you write the song for the punisher ? Or is it the song you thought would fit the most ?
I hope the new punisher will be as awesome as the comic, and not soft-heartet "i just used icecream and not the flame" carp ^^

I hope you're used to hanging around in musician forums, or else my opinion may seem harsh.
Basically I didn't see too much special with the track. It sounds like a watery combination of many of the popular "southern alternative metal" bands (if you could call them that.) that have become increasingly popular on the radio in the last few years. Now this isn't exactly a bad thing - But a jack of all trades, is a master at nothing!
You've successfully entered a genre/style with this track - The problem is that you covered all the "features" (sometimes known as Stereotypes) of that genre. I can hear the ghosts of bands you've (accidentally, perhaps) emulated.
Imagine a stereotype of rap?
*beat* Yo Yo, -explitive- money and women, -explitive-
Sure, It'd sell great at first - But it doesn't have any more room to grow.
Now, I'll admit - Your recording is quality - and your vocalist is quite skilled - But I hear spots where the drummer feels.. uncomfortable - Especially the chorus.
After listening to the song about 5 more times, and putting personal taste aside.. I think you guys could have something going for a few years (at the most, unless you grow), People like things they've heard before - Here's the catch - The only problem I can see in the quality (playing, skill, and feel) in this track is the drummer. He's not alive enough - He's either being held back by the composer, or is unsure of how he should be playing.
If a drummer is uncomfortable, it'll cause problems later on in the band. Does he have different musical tastes than everyone else?
And if the drummer is lacking skill, well - the problems of this could be obvious, though they'll only slow you down - Not ruin the band. :)
Also : It may be personal taste, but I think the first chorus comes in a bit too soon - especially considering the first 20-30 seconds of the song are a nearly ambient intro, before you get into the "real" into and riffs. I also feel that the transition directly AFTER The first chorus is a bit... well - Lets say.. "textbook". Actually, every transition before and after the choruses seem robotic (except the final chorus before the solo!)
Also probably personal opinion : But the track isn't very complex - The composition is quite simple, some would say basic. The structure follows this pattern.
But, strangely enough - Simplicity is what the masses crave.. I think. (Actually, The masses crave whatever you tell them to.)
Anyways - Decent track. It needs some work on a compositional level, though it's got a solid core, and great recording ethic. The drummer also needs to either step it up, or come at odds with his own musical tastes. Hybrid styles are all the rage, these days!
On a final note : Where's your bassist? o_O
On a final final note :
"Ultimate Answer" is a much better track, over all. (Notice, no drummer!) It sounds very professional, and catchy - and a lot more complex than the above mentioned track. The mixing/mastering is great - Volumes are great - Vocalist and guitarists sound great. I'm listening on myspace so they cut out part of the highband and lowband frequencies, so I may not be sure - But did I hear a bassist? He needs to stop hiding behind the guitar so much, if it is.
Personally, I see "Ultimate Answer" as having higher potential of being chosen for the contest. The first song is too watered down and stereotypical of current "pop metal", and also sounds quite a bit.. ametuer. "Ultimate Answer" on the other hand, is a classic example of a soul-filled acoustic song. I could easily see it making it into the credits, especially due to it's professional sound, and classic execution.

P.S. - What's the band name mean?

I like both. It seems you have to listen to the final stop before it registers on the website. I also tried opening several at a time, but it still listed as one listen:D It didn't annoy me after 10 listens, which is my personal measure. You should submit Ultimate Answer as well, I really think it's the better song. ____ English doesn't borrow from other languages; it follows other languages down dark alleys, coshes 'em, then rummages in their pockets for loose bits of grammar. |

Didn't think was harsh at all man, and I do agree with some of the points you made. Such as, the bass..I just threw that down on the fly didnt put much thought into it just wanted to hear some more bottom and play with tones and texture layering.
You may also be right about the first chorus coming to soon after the first pre chorus. Ill probably do some switching around or add a few alternate turn arounds.
Now as far as it being cliche or immature. lyric wise I would certainly hope not. The subject matter is delving into human introspection about ones own motivations, discovery and perception of good and evil and there roles in the cosmic scheme of things. The Idea i was going for was that In a human being's struggle in trying to define good and evil within him/herself, all pailed in comparison to something else.
The chorus lyrics are " beyond the weight of the world beyond the sword and the gun beyond a bomb in the sun". What i was attempting to suggest with that,is this. There are forces that move, shape, destroy and create the universe around us. And that cosmic forces of such an unimaginative scale are happening all around us going unnoticed. And perhaps, that these forces may have a sentient motivator or that they themselves may be sentient. So, if we examine our own ideas of good, evil, destruction and creation in light of considering such things,it can give a much different perspective on all the things that drive us and all the things we are compelled to call good or evil, gods or devils. (wall of text just woke up I apologize)
In a nutshell its an idea i had about something so big and so powerful that it puts everyone and everything be they gods or devils, into an inescapable place of introspection and humility before the beyond. The Ultimate Answer is more of the personal introspective version of Beyond. Both songs are exploring the same areas.
or... It might be about someone whining on that all they have is brown dirt weed and the girlfriend wont give him head ...and like..um mom and dad r sooo lame ..and like... spoiled middle upper class suburban life is boring.
As for my musical tastes.. the only new cd ive bought in a few years is, Black Sabbath the DIO years. It rocks. The last 3 tracks are newly written and those are my favorite songs right now. oh and I replaced my scratched copy of bad motor finger.Johny Cash box set. My favorite rock band is without a doubt Soundgarden, genius and I 'll have words with anyone who says otherwise. Style wise there are the perfect monster love child of Led Zep and Black Sabbath. The fathers of all that rock. I hate NU-metal and Jeff Buckley was the ultimate example of music being something super natural.
So.. Its just a demo put together in a few hours late at night. It'll go through several more iterations when we start recording again in the fall.
As for the drummer... Ill try and sit down and talk with the computer and drum kits from hell 2 software made by the drummer from Mashuga, but man....well you know how drummers can be.
