He's tinfoiling it in claiming that goons wasted a metric buttload of plex's to convert trials to one month subscribed trials to rig 10000 votes. Not that it would cost like 115 bn isk or anything. Do you smell what the Lock's cooking? |

You are an idiot if you think THIS is what made people think bad thoughts about the EVE community. |

Sweeping it under the rug is proof we're the vile scum people think we are.
But whatever, look at some interviews/videos of Fanfest and see how "evil" the community is. 10,000 votes suggest the community isn't ashamed of his behavior at all and wish him to continue. You mad, bro? Which is less than 3% by equivalent representation of the EvE community. So it in no way shows a majority view, far from it. 10,000 votes is a nice tally, the question is how many of those votes are from alts? You mean paid accounts. 1 vote per account.
Yes, because no one could take Moongoo, convert it to plex, and open up a bunch of accounts to vote right?
And oddly a bunch of new accounts voted.....Most new people have no clue what is going on, much less have the willingness to read all the spam, and then try to figure out how to vote... Looking to stamp out apiphobia in my lifetime..... |

BINGO!
This forum rage has absolutely nothing to do with some harassed player being bullied. The outrage is just a group of people who see an opportunity to jump on a bandwagon in an effort to exact revenge against Goons and Mittani. Whatever the basis for their hatred, they can taste the blood in the water and they know this is just the sort of opportunity they may never get again.
Easy way to tell? Just follow the quotes, like "He's our representative" and "He's in a position of responsibility" and so on and so on.
Really? The same people claiming Mittani is somehow our grand leader are the same people who normally claim the CSM is an irrelevent PR stunt of CCP and have zero significance. But now, suddenly, NOW the CSM is important, NOW they represent us.
Where was all this angst up until a couple of days ago?
Go back to your caves.

I originally answered the apology thread with this, but I think it really needs to be seen and said. There is now publicity all over the place about how vile the Eve Online community is, not The Mittani, the community itself.
-------------- Quote: This game's player base is the pit of the human cesspool.
Quote: Not that I'm surprised. Spreadsheets Online: Sociopaths in Space. It's a moral vaccum, basically 4chan with space-ships. Its primary purpose should be to tie up all the detritus of MMO-playing Internet into one condensed wasteland, the hell away from the games played by decent human beings.
Quote: This is exact type of person EVE deserves as CSM chairman. No wonder CCP isn't going to ban him and also no wonder game doesn't progress anywhere - it's already perfect as arena for cyber-bullying sociopaths.
Quote: With each passing news story on Eve Online, I am LESS interested in trying the game.
---------------
In your obsessive desire to see one man shamed and stripped of his voted place in the csm, and maybe because you were on the receiving end of some IN GAME stuff that happened, because in your impotent rage that the chairman you wanted didn't get votes, you have besmirched the whole of the community.
Guess what? No one is squeeky clean, if we look closely enough we see the cracks and the ugly truth beneath the veneer of humanity. You, yes YOU, every one of you reading this has thought or said or done things that someone somewhere thinks is abhorant and disgusting, most likely you have commited a crime of some size in your country.
What defines a community is whether it is quietly pointed out, dealt with and apologised for, or whether we allow our hatred to beat up the object of our hate, burn it and kick it to death and drag it though the streets shouting about it. If you were outraged at what happened, you could have petitioned ccp, or sent some sort of message privately. Some official channel could have been used. Instead you chose sensationalism, the chance to scream your utter horror that something bad was done.
Take a look at what you have all done here, are you proud? You shouldnt be, you should be ashamed of dragging your community around the streets with a burning tyre around its bloody neck, paraded for the rest of the gaming world to see and hate you for. Because it isnt now The Mittani they hate, it is this community, your community. Well done.
The Eve Online community looks like utter **** now, and I blame you. The people who chose to publicly shame our entire community with your behaviour here.
Alternatively, Mittani could have not be a nasty loudmouth in a very public place and nothing would have happened.
Oh yeah, you and Mittens are never at fault for anything, forgot that.

I know this might be hard for you to grasp, but some people have moral and ethical standards, and stand up to what they feel is wrong. It's not petty revenge, although i'm sure goons prefer to think that. |

I kind of agree. I don't think the community is actually like that of course, but that isn't the issue.
As those comments and ones like them I've seen on the Mittens news articles, that is how we're seen. And yes, it's a problem, because as long as people believe EVE is a game full of assholes, they aren't going to play. Hell, you even see EVE players perpetuating this nonsense when they gush about how you should 'trust no one' and how all you'll know is heartbreaking betrayal.
It's not about 'most players are good people in hisec but in 0.0 they're sociopaths' or anything like that. Most players are assholes the same why the guy who takes your knight in chess is an *******. Those are the rules of the game, and you acknowledge them when you start to play. There's a major divide between peoples' personality in game, where they murder you and take your stuff, and IRL, where they'll have a friendly conversation with you over a nice game of internet spaceships. Maybe Mittens overstepped that line when he dragged things into IRL; it doesn't matter.
What matters is that people outside the game, and some inside the game, aren't making the differentiation at all. And that kind of reputation doesn't help anybody. |
