like u i hate the lumbering bs`s and never fly anything bigger than a bc. i fly the vengeance and jaguar almost exclusively roaming lo-sec for targets solo.
generally all u hear is that they are crap, but, as long as you know your ship and get used to its limitations and pick your targets sensibly they are just fine in my book.
you just cant beat a frigs lock time and i hate losing targets while waiting for cruisers to get a lock so af`s are my fav.
idealy id like to roam with another af or 2 but i get fed up tryin to find people so i just hunt on my own and im very happy with my choice of pvp ship.
ive had a myrm and a hurricane on there knees just recently and not noobs with stupid fits either :p
oh and gate camps have never been a problem, i live in lo-sec, i roam lo-sec and have never gotten caught in a af at a camp. my cruisers sure have though!
An ishkur aligns in 6 seconds. How do you avoid getting locked if there is an interceptor camping the gate? Even nano'd it only gets down to around 5. Do you use a cloak to align or something?

Originally by: MotherMoon the jag and wolf work great in PvP, haha other races.
The harpy can be pretty hot too, the ishkur as well to a lesser extent.
Even those aren't that popular or that strong really.
I think most people are looking forward to the speed and web adjustment patch bringing AFs back up to speed (literally). Heck, I'm looking forward to what it will do for frigates in general with nanos no longer stealing their role.

Well, in FW rabble rabble gangs, interceptor pilots are either slow or don't have overview setup properly so they most likely don't start locking right off (well, no human does start locking right off, you need a finite amount of time to spot target even when waiting ready and click on it) - and there is a bit of time while it prevents you from locking properly after cloak breaks - and it does take a ceptor 2s to lock (or more, if the other guy is using halos like I am), and you can definitely sure you'll have 1s module activation lag minimum. That's why you'll hear the 'damn, had picture' from RSB-ed HIC pilots a lot when they're trying to tackle really fast little buggers. You get a lock, mod doesn't active right off, target flies off
I'm dead certain there's less then 6s (what EFT says) when trying to lock a Ishkur warping off a gate available.
With 4.6s align time on my Jaguar, I have not been locked down at a gate yet - and I've had solid ceptor pilots say 'damn, had picture' in local to me with the slower aligning 5.2s fit (haven't had it caught yet, but I don't fly it that often). Ofc, 6s is a bit risky, but when you jump in a large gang, they have solid chances of failing to lock you for some reason.

This is true. They won't lock you fast enough because they'll have to find you out of the list of other ships you brought with you - I sometimes consider taking it out in small gangs but every time I do I think "gee, I should be flying a Thorax if I have interceptor support". I think the issue is that without a bigger gate jump margin they're really risky.
