While saying it's an outright waste is a bit rude, and extreme, I do think the prices of the models are quite high. I'd much rather have a lower quality set of more affordable models, than these.
lol this. As a poor student I cannot afford ú100 models. If anyone says that price isn't correct, thats including tax and the stupid iternational delivery.
thats like 3 weeks of food and beer!
LOL, seriously...you guys had your cheap shipping and customes free orders for as long as the store has been open. Now you have to deal with what us americans have had to deal with since the stores been around. Stop the whining. If I wanted a SHOT GLASS when the store was in europe, I would have had to pay (no joke) 75 dollars in shipping and customs fees. so 80 dollars for a shot glass wasnt worth it. It's called CCP realizing that their potential North American customers were being driven away by shippign costs, they moved the store and now you shitheads whine like you're owed something. _____________________

That's AWESOME!! Look how big it is! I remember looking at the cm measurements posted on the store and I was like... That can't be right, those models would be gigantic.. This is the first size comparison I've seen to give an idea how big they are. I ordered the Navy set about a week ago, can't wait to get it! Thanks for the pic. --------------

Just wanted to say thanks for calling me a shithead.. (what type of insult is that anyway, maybe some US thing, havn't heard that since the late 80's get with the times Dude! or I'll call the TMNT on ya ass) and please, ú100 for a model+shipping, regardless of where it's shipped from is outrageous unless the model is detailed to a point of eye poppage, I could import (read, buy and have it posted) a Star trek model with Fiber optics for the price CCP want just for the model. to me thats just either taking the **** or good marketing on said models. However that being said, Props to the OP for buying it, I'm tempted I must admit.

He goes to work, he wants the model he can spend his money on what he wants. You could say any piece of artwork is a waste of money. I would like to see your house you must just live inside a white box.
To OP - cool I am hoping to order one myself come payday will look nice in the display cabinet in my study :)

I think it's not so much about what he spends money on but mainly about the price/quality ratio.

You wish, with import, shipping and customs involved we're looking at about ú200 per model.
So about 400 bucks each.
Loving it.
Actually there was no tax to pay, when I got mine last week.
It cost me exactly ú89.35p, no extra charges involved.
I have money to waste so meh.

Model quality 17/20, good details around. I like the weight of the ship. Its heavy, you feel realy its a battleship.
Paint quality 12/20, could be better especially on the small white dots representing the illuminated windows. Some dots are not well placed. On my picture you can see some dots in the center of the ship not aligned.
But its ok. I am happy with it. It will be a nice souvenir of eve days. (no, I am not leaving ) --------- Red Panda ---------

Every bloody time this comes up I see you, yes you, "counter-whining". Truth is, we've never had it good. We pay customs charges and high delivery charges from Iceland because it's outside the EU. If CCP used any different carrier [my favourite is DHL] aside from FedEx, we would have much more reasonable shipping costs to the EU.
Also, newsflash, people are interested in their own situations first and foremost. Thus, I am concerned much more with what I would have to pay should I choose to purchase the model than what anyone else in Europe would have to pay, and one step up, I care more, as a European, what Europeans have to pay for shipping than what North Americans have to pay. Pre-store-relocation, I cared not a jot what North Americans had to pay for shipping, it in no way directly affected me. Post-store-relocation, I care what I would have to pay for shipping because it is related to my situation. I still don't care what North American customers have to pay for shipping, but now I care for what I would have to pay for shipping as it directly affects me.
Sooner you realise that, the sooner you ride into town on a pony, yankee-boy.

I was actually expecting them to be about 50% larger than that, and still thought they were overpriced. Between the size and now knowing they don't have flawless paintjobs, there is no way I would ever get them.

I'm curious. From the store: "The meticulous reproduction of EVE Online's ships is achieved through a combination of plastic detailing, cast metal components, and hand painted accents."
What are the cast metal components, if any? Want nicer pic too. :)

This. What's with all the flat matte colour where the actual ship has lots of little details and is shiny in parts?
These pictures would make you think the model comes unpainted. -

The box says it is a polystone model (not sure if it is the same thing as resin)

The metal parts must be a exaggeration since the only metal parts I can feel/see are from the model support. Still, on other models there may be more metal parts then in this one.
Originally by: Crumplecorn These pictures would make you think the model comes unpainted.
It is painted on tones of gray and the difference between them is not very significant (it is the standard version, not the navy one)

If they weren't already sure or not whether you were a nerd...
Unless of course you're a game developer.
I ain't getting one cause it's have to have been made of freakin pewter and platinum and stuff for me to have cared that much. I dont wanna part with ú100 for a plastic model thing but if it was really something special I'd have probably gone up to ú300 on a one off.
