*LOL* At the Navy set... repainted T1 models.
Note that the Republic Navy Tempest has squared panels, not the same angled ones as depicted in the Navy Set. I'm sure the other navy boats have other physical differenaces but that's the most obvious.
So, the 'navy set'... isn't.

It's not a 'waste of money' if that thing is 18" long with that level of detail, but if it's a 6" matchbox upscale... I'd have to say they're terribly overpriced.
Check the top picture, the so commented keyboard gives you a idea of the size it haves.

Actually, tooling costs for a plastic/resin model are obscenely expensive. The molds and associated tooling for a single warhammer 40k imperial guard trooper (as a standard reference) can cost upwards of $40,000 USD. For -one- mold. The costs scale proportionately as the mold gets bigger. Of course, once you have that mold, it costs GW about 50 cents to make a trooper.
Don't forget, CCP has to pass on those tooling up costs to us in order for them to even break even on the item...

You don't know how good is an old mechanical keyboard, do you? :)
I bought an original IBM PC when they first came out in ~1982. It had a great keyboard. It was *heavy*. First time I picked it up I almost dropped it cause it surprised me with its weight. I was built like a tank... you could have chopped wood with the thing.
It had great action on the keys too. Very clicky/klacky.

Now I just have to decide if it's living in my office or at home...
If they weren't already sure or not whether you were a nerd...
Unless of course you're a game developer.
I ain't getting one cause it's have to have been made of freakin pewter and platinum and stuff for me to have cared that much. I dont wanna part with ú100 for a plastic model thing but if it was really something special I'd have probably gone up to ú300 on a one off.
Well. I have had screenshots/portrait from Eve posted around my office(s) for the last couple of years to the point where random people are like... "Woah you play Eve?" "Yeah, er, shit, I haven't killed you have I?..."
Shiny model will complement it all nicely

Of course everyone wants to take this opportunity to give you sh!t, and talk about how you wasted your money. It's your money, spend it any way you please.

Man,, look at all the flack you are taking. lol
I am getting a mega next. My Raven arrived today, and it is sweeet! There is one forward antenna on the port side that is missing, but it is still sweet. Very pleased with my purchase.
Ya know, these are not much more $ then Franklin Mint models. They are twice the size and 4 times as cool.

I'm waiting for the pirate set, then I might buy. TBH, I don't really care about any of 'em except the machariel (well...maybe the nightmare). I really, REALLY want a mach model. -Wrayeth n00b Extraordinaire "Look, pa! I just contributed absolutely nothing to this thread!" |

Quality is not as high as I expected.
As for keyboards, SCREW you all, I still use old style awesomeness.
I was thinking about ordering like 10 of those. Why in the hell would you pay anything more than that much for a keyboard that you can't even type on because the keys are so damn shallow?
Modern keyboards are made of FAIL.
