If we aspire to fly a new ship it will come with a lot of unanswered questions.
If we have good basic skills there is no reason why we should not grasp the nettle of learning a new ship that takes us into unchartered territory. This often means flying a ship which we are not familiar with & consequently a new set of modules to bring out the best in that ship.
The majority of people in the forum are really helpful but we have to suffer a handful of patronising know it alls who will put anybody down by ramming there superior skills down your throat.
It has reached a point where a lot of people are fearful of asking a question because of the expected backlash.
What is the point of having a forum where you are frightened to ask a question because of a handful of people who are discourteous & ruin the experience for everbody.
We were all new at some point-I know I am & everybody has the right to ask questions, learn & progress & not expect the forum experience to be nasty.
I thank all of you who have been helpful & those you have been unhelpful-remember you yourselves had questions when you started with Eve-I just hope you got answers more inline with what decent helpful should give.

What is apparent is that people can genuinely ask a noob question-because they really dont know & get flamed to hell and even worse they get told they should not be flying this or that ship because they don't know. That is well-just cr*p.

Some folks are purebred idiots and will flame literally anything. Ignore them is all you can do.
As for the rest, let's take the OP's example of requesting ship fittings and info:
A player posts "I CAN HAZ DRAKE SETUP PLX". He hasn't searched for other threads on here or scrapheap, battleclinic etc. He hasn't considered a possible fit and asked for advice to improve it. He hasn't stated what he wants the ship for, or how he intends to use it.
So, he gets flamed for his laziness and unwillingless to do any of the thinking himself. This is a complex game, and if you don't enjoy the complexity then it probably isn't your thing anyway.
I'm not here to make excuses for some of the behaviour on here, but also I think a lot of people need to engage their brain before clicking 'new thread'. --

You really are obnoxious-you started trading the insults by calling me a moron. Your exactly the sort of person this post is aimed at. What you sow you shall reap. The Dominix is not best suited as a Shield tank that is all I was saying-I mean I don't exactly see shield tanked Domi's listed in the top 10 Eve fits. Yes it is possible to shield tank a Domi but it is not the most popular fit & before you start trolling my skill set with the Domi I have BS5, DI5 & tec2 tank.

I only mostly react to other OP's crass comments. I am generally courteous & as for the Domi it came as a genuine surprise that people would want to shield tank-nothing wrong in that. It might even have been possible that the original poster had been given the wrong info-at least I put a lol on the end of the comment. Some people have no personality-they are just extremely sensitive & take every remark as a direct assault on themselves.

What I just quoted was before I ever answered a post of you, it was you answering a post by Mangus Thermophile that is one of the fastest mission runners in the game. It has nothing to do with beating a topic to death or being the worlds' fastest Eve mission runner. It has all to do with you firing the first insulting shot & instead of shrugging it off & perhaps asking a question to establish the depth of my knowledge on the subject you immediately decided that I'm a moron.
I know the Dominix very well-all my support skills in engineering, battleships & drones is a considerable part of my skill points & to be honest I'm newish to Eve so a shield tanked Domi seemed odd. There is nothing wrong with that & the comment was tongue in cheek with a LOL so I don't see why your so very upset.
Let's forget & both lighten up a bit-Eve & life is too short to bicker about nothing. Fly safe.

He knows nothing of my skills so what gives the justification for the comment. If he had said .....now I've looked at your skills & I see that you only have HAC1 & 3K SP im missiles so I dont think you should be flying a Cerb.... that would be better than sticking a useless comment on the forum.
I like constructive comments that mean something-they add value-this OP's post was just worthless.

So, are you a noob or a vet? You seem to swap between the two when it suits you. One moment you're a fearsome kronos pilot with level V in this and that, dispensing instructive criticism. The next you transform into a poor helpless soul who doesn't know what a sensor booster is.

You can say it was, but it wasn't. You were attempting to ridicule Magnus, but instead you showed your ignorance (and lacked the grace to admit it). You really need to take a look at how you interact with other people.

Lets be clear on something. There are 2 characters involved. One flys a Kronos & Domi-this character is new & flys missile boats. I have never said that I'm uber at anything & frankly have never bragged about my skills.
I also have no graces to adhere to. I genuinely did not know that a shield tanked Domi was desireable or not.
All my characters were trained by me & my first corp had its head stuck so far up its backside it did not recognise the merits in helping new people progress. It tended to ridicule in similar ways to some members of this forum.
Do not suggest that my skills are fictious- they can be easily verified if need be but I don't think I have anything to prove. As a fierce warrior-don't make me laugh as I've never killed anything in PVP-once again another example of speaking without knowing the facts.

And there is your lack of understanding. The dominix is capable of mounting one of the best shield tanks, active or passive. Only the Vulture (debatable), Golem, Scorpion and Drake have an easy time out-tanking it. The reason most people fit armour tanks is because they need their mid-slots for other things or need capacitor to fuel their remote reps. Or, perhaps some people are as ignorant as you are.
You claim you want to learn and want friendly people to impart knowledge in a friendly manner, and then shove your ignorance down their throat like a jumped-up ingrate.
