Is there any information on how many defender missiles are needed to destroy different types of incoming missiles?
1 light = x defenders? 1 heavy = y defenders? 1 cruise = z defenders?
How and what skills affects the chances of success, and is there a tech 2 variant of defenders? I have already read the posts about defenders being considered broken (by all launchers targeting the first incoming). At what range do they activate / sense the incoming missile?
Thank you for your support. I am considering baiting with a ship to uncloak the manticore outside the outpost, and want to see if defenders can actually be of use in increasing the survival rate.

it will take 1 defender to destroy light, heavy and cruise missiles, and 2 defenders to destroy a torp

So having done a little bit of analysis, one rocket launcher equipped with defenders should be able to knock out 2-3 cruise missiles that are fired from a manticore at 100km range?
With full skill a cruise can be fired at speed 5325 m/s and flight time 30 seconds. If the manticore is situated at 100km, then first cruise should be down after around 7-8 seconds (combined speed of cruise and defender is 5325+8000 m/s), and hit around 50-60km. That means 2 cycles on the rocket launcher is wasted on the first missile. then 1-2 more shots should be feasible before the cruises arrive at my ship? Does my estimations seem somewhat correct?

thats all well and good, but defenders are broken atm. actually have been for like forever. Unless your an npc, in which case they seem to be working just fine.

No, actually the OP was right about them working well against stealth bombers. The problem is that defenders need to be manually activated, and will go after the nearest incoming missile, so having a low ROF is all well and good, but you can only actually fire one defender, wait until it hits, and then fire another.
In that regard, if you want to use a rocket launcher full of defenders against a stealth bomber, your best bet is to set it to manual and launch each defender just after the previous one has hit. If you do this, then depending on skills and range you can quite feasibly take out all three missiles, and definitely two.

Defenders work fine in the situations where they're viable. Unfortunately, those situations are very limited, as you either have something better to do with that highslot, something better to do with the time where you could be spamming Defenders, or are taking close-range missile fire, where Defenders will never work.
