Given that there are now 81 known titans in New Eden, and who knows how many unreported, what do you think about the state of 0.0 warfare today?
Are you among those who believe that cyno jammers used in conjunction with multiple defensive titans are overpowered? Or are you of the opinion that the number of titans deployed changes little about the way 0.0 wars are fought?
In the EVE-Mag.com article "One Titan Too Many?" we look at the number of titans with one question in mind: is this truly working as intended?
It's a question that's been asked before, for certain, and we're not attempting to answer it. The article is one pilot's opinion and we welcome further discussion on the topic.
Enjoy!

0.0 warfare is great
POS warfare and titans are not great.
There are way too many titans in the game and the DDD insta kill button seems a bit out of place in EVE.
Titans and Cynojammers are not unbeatable, but they are two glaring reasons of why 0.0 POS warfare sucks. --

At some time in the future all pilots will have titan skill trained and a personal titan to fly. What then ? Doomsdaying dreadfleets into oblivion. Doomsdaying titan fleets too ? Someone run the numbers.
How many doomsdays you need to kill a titan ?

Those titans are pop material the minute one corporation/alliance decides "let's pop 'em".
Yes, it's that simple.
Hell, even the forums could pop the titans out and make it so costly to build 'em, that noone would.
My opinions represent the opinions of my corporation completely. I'm the CEO damnit. |

At least there are entities like the Star Fraction who are willing to do something different with a Titan.

Titans would be mostly harmless (pun intended) without the lag in large fleet fights.
So, preferably, the lag should be fixed.
If that can't be done, there should be at least some random effect to compensate this (like a 50% chance to not get hit by the DDD).
Random effects in games suck, but as we all know, lag is normal gameplay now and pretty random ...
How to PVP: 1. buy ISK with GTCs, 2. fit cloak, learn aggro mechanics, 3. buy second account for metagaming

Uncle BoB told me that Titans are fine and balanced. They are an Anti-Blob weapon that is really needed to balance 0.0 warfare and make 0.0 a leveled playing field.
Uncle BoB also has a dozen or so Titans, so he should know. To everyone who has not multiple Titans: Quit whining and toughen up.

Don't misunderstand - my mention of your alliance wasn't negative. Just illustrative - kudos on having one; most would say that right now, owning a titan is one of the highest achievements an alliance can reach in EVE and your doing it without being a 0.0 sovereign power is commendable.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to point fingers and understood your point, but thanks for your praise!
Personally, I like to think that the SF will strive for anything that helps our RP, I guess it's somewhat telling that we're the first RP entity to have a Titan (or I'm told we are :P) and fully intend to use it in the terms we've established for ourselves.
It's interesting actually, I was talking to Saul Dhampir the other night about Battleships in the early days of EVE, how they were so rare that people treated them like as we do Titans nowadays. People would make a big thing of being able to bring a single Battleship to a large fight!

Actually the only thing you can do is LESS than what people already use Titans for since you are in FW and a lot of Titan abilities are best used in 0.0. I would type more but you ego is so huge I can't fit anymor... --

A Titans power is not just in its ability to fit a DD. I would type more but meh ...

Titans seemed kinda broke even when first released. Here were ships that according to the backstory took entire empires years to build at vast expense.
Yet those empires were happy to just sell on the markets the blueprints for such ships that allowed a thousand people to build one in a few months?
_______ People like that don't have friends just temporary common interests.

Some would say JBs are a similar topic to cyno jammers and titans - personally I don't feel strongly about JBs or cyno jammers (both seem to work fine to me) so somebody else will have to editorialize on those topics.

Way to many now need a nerf. Even tho I have one. I can see they are way to cheap and easy to get. Just a matter of time before they get nerfed because of number in game.
I think thing that will force it is when a whole cap fleet dies to a dd then ccp have to nerf it.

Obviously we need to add a larger ship (hypercapital?) which can destroy all the titans in a system in one shot.
Just make it so expensive that there will only ever be a few in the game.
What could possibly go wrong. -

In the spirit of 'doomsday devices' - make the DDD instapop the titan using it. Weapon of last resort and all.

So, a normal Titan hides in the POS shields or logged off except to Doomsday.
Your titan can't doomsday so it just hides in pos shields and stays logged off.
That is very different. I commend Star Fraction on this out of box thinking.

Increase the price and include a fatal weakness smaller ships can exploit like a certain ventilation shaft we all know and love. That would make them not only harder to get but harder to use since you'd need to field a very, very large fleet alongside them to make up for the achilles heel (something only the Empires can do comfortably?)
Oh, and give the Empires something like 30 upgraded titans each just so we can take them seriously.

I can't help but wonder if it would be better if titans were basically a mobile outpost. Forget the whole "Dooms day device" give them a medical bay and a butt load of hanger space for ships that people can grab after getting blown up.
