I'm not going to talk about the actions of any one person, or whether they were right or wrong or should do whatever as penance.
My question are to CCP who seem conveniently corporate damage control on this.
Quote:We are undertaking a full internal review of this panel as well as the process used for vetting the panel's materials. Even though this panel was billed as unfiltered by CCP, we expect public presentations to be courteous and professional towards others. Sorry, but this seems just like crap.
- You don't vet the content i.e. "unfiltered". - You encourage and promote the innebriated state of the participants. - You have promoted a long history of "naming names" and mail tear showcasing. Basically the more cutting of others the better. - You feed it all live to the public.
Quote:...we expect public presentations to be courteous and professional towards others. Exactly how is that expected given the nature of the event you have held here?
CCP I think there are more questions for you than there are for anyone else. Such as:
- What is CCP exact policy/process on reviewing presentations for the Alliance Panel? Does CCP contribute to the creation of the content? - What are participants briefed on with regards to "no go" topics before they appear? - Are participants briefed on CCP policies that would be relevant to a live global broadcast? - Does CCP make any evaluation of a participants "fitness" to participate before they take the stage? - What delay/dump protocol does CCP use in broadcast of these events? If it exists why was it not used?
CCP - you have a lot of explaining to do in my opinion.

There's not much explaining to do, really. The "public image" side of Fanfest has been growing, and this year it had a bit of a collision with the "drunken party vacation" side of it. They'll sort new rules out for presentations next year (presentation vetting, presenting under the influence, etc etc) and all will be well again. |

I'm half in the bag now.
Drinking until you fall over is awesome fun!
However, getting pissed and then having a microphone put in your face then being expected to be funny doesn't gel with CCP's public statement for mine.

That's exactly what it is. Eve at the alliance level is basically a boys club and CCP likes to think that that's where all the fun is. Unfortunatly just the alliance bods wouldn't keep the game going and growing and filling CCPs pockets as quickly as they'd like.
So they have to play the PR game and make like being mean and evil just isn't right, even though in game and in character it is.
Ultimatly I think it's more a case of society, as a whole, having it far too good for far too long, I blame political correctness for it all. |

It is just meta-gaming at the corporate level. I am sure they didn't like that Mittani outed the name of the player but the rest seems to be sanctioned by CCP. They want to be the bad boy MMO and this is part of their PR strategy.
I know many players don't agree. Hey many players even wan't to remove non-consensual PvP, ban scammers and likes to call suicide gankers griefers that violate the EULA. But it is OK, these players are needed in the game too because of all the drama they help generate. And drama is what feeds EVE.
Don't be surprised if EVE will grow it's subscription base because of the Mittani Gate meta-gaming drama. |

Agree they might not have liked it but from what you are saying we could infer they are simply creating turmoil for PR? That could be judged as more insidious than how we got here in the first place - not to mention far fetched.
CCP still are not saying anything more than what could be regarded as weak spin here when there should be explanation.
Their event and their "expectations".
I just want to know what policies CCP have that allow drunk people to basically represent them live on stage and then cry foul if it doesn't end well.

I agree with the OP. CCP encourages drunk and disorderly behavior at fanfest, and that's exactly what they get. It's all fun until someone crosses the line. The responsibility here lies with CCP more than anyone else. |

+1 Question is what are the rules if some people get a ban for swearing in Jita and then liveTV harassement is pretty much left untold (at this point which is quite some time already).

CCP don't want to create drama. They leave that to us players. They only create the stage for drama to happen - like the alliance panel at fanfest and of course New Eden. This is what makes EVE famous and attracts subscribers and this is the reputation they want to be spread on the internet by players in forums and the likes. However, as a corporation they want another message out to the public - that they are a responsible company that develop a high quality MMO and play by all the rules. That is what i mean by meta-gaming at a corporate level.
