Has anyone else noticed this with this particular mission ?
You get 5 bookmarks for this mission. I warp to the first bookmark and kill the pirates there. Now on selecting the 2nd bookmark you would expect to see the warp to option but instead I got the approach option. Funny I thought, must have chosen the 2nd bm instead of the first one. But on warping to the 3rd bm and killing the pirates there the 4th bm gave me the option to approach instead of warp to.
I've had this happen twice now - the bms don't seem to stay in order.

use the bookmarks in the people and places window, they are numbered and don't change like the ones you get by right clicking.
wapred around like lost for some ime too yesterday

Use People & Places instead. The right click GUI will shuffle your bookmarks.

I've found that renaming them before you set out (like add the number of the BM to the front) stops the shuffling on the space menu.

Yeah its a pain in the arse because once you clear out 4 bookmarks you spend ages trouncing around trying to find the one you have not visited, i will rename them next time, it was a much more interesting mission tho

Edited by: Techtv on 17/06/2004 17:51:00 These missions are definently worth it. I made 850k in bountys, agent reward and bonus reward. Not including the junk look that can be ripped for ore and the named items. And that was just that one imporant mission.

I don't know if it's the new mission, or the changes of the patch, but I just had this mission and must say it's probably the most fun I've had on a kill mission for a long time. It was challenging and rewarding, and so much more involved with having to pay much more attention to range, weapons, targets, cap, shield, what modules are on and off, drones (where applicable), launchers, ammo, reloading....phew! More like this please, hasn't been a mission this good before, and if it's anything to go by, *Dungeons* sound like a lot of fun! Especially with the fleet/tactical/wing hierarchies Shiva will bring with it.

I just had a mission by this same title
I've done these multi-spawns about five or six times now without trouble, but...
Not sure if it was my program or not (deleted and I am downloading a new version) but there were no NPC's at any of the four places. But they came up on the scanner - but with dash marks for distances (the scanner couldn't tell where they were, either).
so there I am chatting to someone about it and i finally notice that chunks of my shield were being taken out. By nothing! i checked all places again, but no vis NPC's were there (but they would all shoot me I guess).

You'd expect a better reward that 72k for killing all those pirates. Barely got 500k in bounty's too.
Fun to have something new though

This mission is very profitable. Ok only a measly 130-150k in rewards at most(for me anyway) but i get around 700k in bounties for an hours work, not bad, but after doing this mission 3 times and 2 other missions inbetween, i amassed around 15 million in named items alone, plus the stack of minerals i got from melting down the rubbish and fitting the needed :P I've had to start clearing out my hangar so frequently ive actually purchased 4 GSC's for my hangar and when a GSC fills (half a day, maybe less) i then sort out all the rubbish for melting and items for escrow. Very very profitable now :D And im loving it. I pray for Pirate Invasion every time now. lol

I had the same problem with the shuffling bm's, but I started using P&P insteed.
On another note this mission cost me 580k in cruise missiles due to the rather insaine autorepair thats been added on some of the cruisers. With the 638k I got in total bounty, I made a total of 58k in bounty profit.
Add that with the fact that it takes one hour, and that makes it the least profitable mission for me to get.

Its not about pleasing people. The mission is original, but thats about it. If you got say 3-4-500k Isk as a main reward then it would have been another story. But its nothing more then 5 kill missions with only 1/5th of the rewards you would have gotten normally.
Sad, but true

i use only about 2 full loads on ammo and 10 torps, considering the bountys some of them have its a good pay
i know it can be a lot of time to kill them at 60km but it keeps my ship in the 1 part i bought it

Ah, sorry, I totally skipped over the part about people using CRUISE MISSLES to kill CRUISER NPCS. I mean, sure you're caldari... but they give you those turret slots for a reason...

You use Cruise? Why?
I fly a Moa and have had the invasion mission a couple of times. Targets have included Mortifiers and Infernos with escort and at no point have i rued the fact i can only fire heavies.
With 3x 250 and 1 dual 150 they die without me having to reload the heavy missiles.
I am not uber by any means, about 3 mill skillpoints.

I guess we have these at all levels. I was doing them with a level 1 agent, now a level 2 agent (this one a 'Public Relations' agent). I'd estimate, now, about 100k in bounties and about the same, or just above, in loot.
But I had had to use the 'repackage ship' method to get things un-invisible now twice. Luckily I don't have insurance on the ship, or I'd be losing it.

best to use people and places bookmarks, i think the reason you have trouble when you use r/click menu on screen is because its based on distance to the warp point in space, so as you move round the bookmarks distances change, this is just a guess, but it seems logical to me, of course it could be a bug and my assumption is b0ll0x
I picked up this ace book today everyone rates it as a must buy for the budding military genius, tho ive decided to rename it as "Sun Tzu's art of the bloody obvious" |

I know there's been a gazillion answers already, but I've had this mission (as well as the 6 BM mission) almost a dozen times.
For me I use P&P, and delete each BM once I've finished the kills.
Also, I can get about 500K-600K in bounties, plus certain loot thrown onto the market yeilds another 100+K, plus what the agent pays. I usually end up with 800K-900K for these missions.
Also, I'm totally successful using multiple launchers throwing Widowmakers consecutively, and have killed all of the rats. Widows are "much" less costly than Cruise. I throw 'em from 60km out. (skills affect the distance you can work from) but this distance keeps me out of arms way.

Interesting others see more money in this cuz I missed it.
I am doing an L-2 Agent (trying to improve a refine at a particular station rather than being stuck with an L-2 agent) and I understand they have lower mission rewards than L-3 but I am comparing to other missions I get from the same agent.
The mission took me 2-3x longer than it would to do one 'normal' mission. The reward was 39k with 19 ship scanners as a bonus (just what I needed...19 more to add to my hundreds collected already...no need to tell me to reprocess them btw). The rats dropped pure crap so no special loot anywhere in the lot.
Sure I collected more bounties but the flip side would have been doing maybe 3 missions to this one, killing near as mant rats and getting their bounties, loot and so on not to mention 3 mission rewards and 3 bonuses. I suspect in the end it is close to break even except more missions means more chance for a really good bonus (I say that looking forward to my L-3 agent...don;t expect one from this agent).
I admit it was interesting as a change of pace but I see the novelty wearing off fast as essentially it is just several kill missions in one with no real effect or special prize or pointer to even better things or whatever. I was a bit disappointed but then it isn't a real big deal either so don't count this as a rant on my part...just a very minor grumble.

I've found that the level 2 pirate agent mission like this, often has you fighting ships with no bounty ot loot, grrrrr.
70k for half an hours work, in 0.0.

Anyone else had their agent say 6 bookmarks and only give 5?

LOL - YES!!!!
All the time (including again last night)
And I always look and see only 5 Bookmarks, then I carefully read in the mission objectives, and see only 5 different "sets" of pirates to go after.
The first time it happened I was worried sick I would be unable to complete the mission. But all has always worked out.
Also: other times I have been told 6 bookmarks, and actually gotten all 6. I guess I don't mind one way or the other so long as I get to "complete" the mission.
I have also noticed (having had these missions now many many times) that they are not the SAME rats each time. The 5 BM mission one time does not necessarily mean the exact same rats for the 5 BM mission the next time you get it. Last night I had the 6 BM mission (but only actually got 5) and never saw the 110K rats that had been a part of the same mission a day earlier.
I guess variety is the spice of life!

I've just spent 40 minutes killing all the other npcs, get to the 5th location, no rats to be seen yet heavy missiles appear out of nowhere and fly at me.
Tried warping in and out several times... no change.
Oh and I agree that the payout needs to be raised for this. More profitable to do 5 normal kill missions in the same time.
*UPDATE* - Invisible NPC's reappeared after downtime.

All the ones i got so far state 6 locations in the journal before and after accepting it and they only give you 5 BM but still let you complete mission.
most likely an overlooked typo i bet.

Just a thought cause my CEO had this last night, and after reloading the new client build, messing with all his hardware, and lots, yes lots of swearing and threatening his CPU, he logged in his "Alt" and bam problem fixed. It may be a client issue, or a server side one, but that seems to be a good workaround... I knew there was a reason to have alts...
Anyway hope that helps, and if anyone gets this bug again, can you test that option out first and see if it fixes this so we can tell the Devs whats up? Thanks... Drac
