Yesterday i were ganked in noni from a WEIRD person calling himself the god arkangle and he stated that he was only here to kill all evil in eve ??? WTF im not evil im a peacefull hauler who just happend to have 500 mill worth of mega in my hauler and he blew it up :( thats more evil i worked my ass of for that mega. i want he`s corp i cant offer anything as he took all my assets but cant some of you smart pvp guys plz kill him. damnit half a bil just poof gone :( i believe the corp name was village people or something ghey like that.
i post with my alt as i dont wanna provoke him or any pvp guys to do this ever again. |

How did he gank you?
Why were you using the slowest, weakest, most obvious ship in the game to transport 1/2 billion of minerals?
As far as I know, you could fit 500M worth of megacyte in a Probe fit with an MWD.

yes but i also had to move some other items :( nothing that much valuable... i know i did wrong using a hauler, but when your a bit new to the game u would think that the systems above +5 is rather safe, seem they are not safe at all. not even after this new patch, he used a caracel with torps :(((( i thought that were taken out. so i actually thought all were back to a bit safer.... GUESS NOT! |

Um, if you're in a position to transport 500 million worth of mega, you no longer qualify as being "a bit new to the game".
Best enemy hauler I've taken out to date, only had about 80 million worth of equipment, with no mins (wrong direction on it's journey). Pity the best items were too big to carry in my frigate (yes, a frigate!). Blowing up the remains when reinforcements came was quite satisfying though

If you, before the patch was applied, had cruise missiles or torps in the heavy missile launchers, you can still fire them but you will be unable to reload. If you are 100% certain that he did use torps and not heavies (why someone would use torps when you want the cargo is beyond me) he must have done it that way or by mounting a siege launcher, which doesn't seem very likely to be possible on a cruiser, but I've never tried so I don't really know.
Short version : I think he was exploiting, but I'm not sure.

was this on teh first day after the orgianal patch ? if so you should be able to petition them cos on taht day the police and sentries where missing constantly therefore his missiles had time to reach you if the sentries had not been missing they would ahve blown his caracle and then killed the missiles mid flight.... and if he wasnt using a seige laucher ont eh caracle to fire the torps thats a second thing he should have been doing...

hmm, if you wanted to remain anonymous MAYBE.. giving your cargo contents, system killed in was not the best way to do this since there are probably not too many pvp's that will run across that kind of cargo
next time give the pilots name, corp name and request he be killed and you can PRIVATELY convo a bounty hunter/ B.H. corp to kill him

Urm...where were your corp mates during all this? If we were transporting 500mill mega we would be doing it with a couple of support ships at least! Ok, so we lose a couple of cruisers for blowing up the ganker and his hauler but we would be able to scoop up the mega with an alt also in support. Damn, no offence like, but your corp were brave if you only consider yourself "fairly new"

The real reason you are using an alt btw isent because of what u said but because u dont want to let people within your corp know u transported all that mega... was it something u stashed up for own gain ? or was it something u stole from the corp ? hmmm the spy in your corp says nothign about a major loss of mega :) so all is peace and harmony HUH! :P

I'd petition it, tbh.
It's unclear how naughty it is to use a Caracal with heavy launchers containing cruise missiles pre-patch that is usable after the patch.
There is also the added problem of sentry guns and CONCORD not behaving properly for a while after the patch.

lol ... we have had village people on our backs before at a mining event .. they took one hauler out .. then they tried for like 1 hour to take our BS's down .. we just kept our heavy drones on them .. they didn't get noware .. they lost around 20 frigs that night .. and got one hauler with low ore. he was unprepared for the fight.. well .. wtf .. it takes us 4 mins to fill a can so thats not the baddest ! but village ppl are du*bas*es! :D

Sentry guns missing or what ever really has nothing to do with it, as it would not have been a factor anyway. But screw it, petition anyway..not like the gms have anything better to do

Hell, if they didn't gank you, somebody else would have. You would have died anyway.
You can carry 60k minerals in a typical battleship hold, much safer. You might have to make a few trips over time, but at least you'd LOADS more protection than a typical indy.

Id have taken my chances with Concord for 500 mill of mega tooand im usually a law abiding citizen of Eve.
Bit of advice for next time get a punisher or similar stick two 1MN MWD and make 4 or 5 trips. hit the gates at about 4000 m/s

They have low defenses because they are designed to be guarded when transporting anything valuable.
There's the key.... "guarded"... which is exactly what the OP should have done before moving that Mega. Live and learn.
