Hrrr depends on how evil they are. I think the bigger issue is whether you'd join a corp/alliance with a spelling mistake...

Okay I can see that now. But
Technically a name can be anything @ all, there is no requirements for them. So Lethario intended to spell his last name that way who am I to judge, that is his right. The question is the ideal behind the name.
You can always ask why they made such a name and decide based on the answer.
Perhaps a more interesting question is do you consider the following as acceptable in game names. And if not, why ? When others are perfectly fine.

I would let people into my corp if they had a typo in their name. I don't see why I should turn away someone because of a simple mistake or due to their education, or lack of. Also the language barrier, I have seen Russians with non-russian names, so there is a larger risk of them making a mistake.
The only names that get on my nerves are ones with things like 1974 on the end or 123 etc. Thats just so lame in my opinion as they have not tried to come up with a name whatsoever. At the end of the day though, its more about what the person is like i.e. personality rather than how well they type / spell.

Misspelled corp and alliance names bug me A LOT more than misspelled player names. Besides, sometimes people want a name that's already been taken, so they have to alter it somehow if they want to use a name like it.

Completley agree, corp and alliances are the companies of Eden and as such should be spelled correctly.

Does CCP ever do a name purge of long inactive corps and characters? Might be one reason people use r3tart3ed spelling.

There are some people I tend to avoid, like for example there's a guy who has been advertizing his overprized Succubus BPC in the ship trade channel for about 2 weeks now, his name is 'Cocy Xopowo' .... Now, most people have no idea what it means, but translated from russian that is roughly "I'm Sucking It Good.." or something like that...That sort of thing really bugs me...but typos? nah, not really, as long as it's not particularly stupid...And if it's a funny/clever typo, then thats only a plus...

if its intentional i don't mind. But if its actually a mistake and after realizing it they did not feel a maddening and irresistible urge to reroll... well i just think that the two of us would have so little in common it would never work out.

Errrr...this is a thread, why? I mean, c'mon.
At MOST a character's name might be a clue to their psychology (psychomurder666 is probably not the best candidate for a peaceful mining corp), but usually it's no clue at all. I mean, look at my name. I made it up at random, years ago, for another game. Turns out it's a mis-spelled word in another language. What're the odds?
So long as their personality fits with the corp, who gives a damn what they call themselves?

This happens to me all the time!

The name of a thing IS the thing. Words are powerful, most religions agree! Many even have the 'naming' of somthing being an important step in the very bringing about of that thing.
Names are very important, and i always spend a good deal of time when naming ANYTHING. Even the name of a save in some game im playing.
Yet look at my name and most people would think i stepped on my keyboard. (pronounce it, its exquisite! the end particularly, you pronounce the sound of the k, and then your lower lip moves up ever so slightly and you exhale to produce the f!!)
