Now that CCP nerfed missions in the last patch, are they gonna increase bounties?
Also, I've seen a lot less BS in some of the better lvl 4's since the last patch.

Do you have data to back that claim up or is it just a feeling you are getting from doing missions?
As far as BS goes the amount I have been getting (averaged over approx 100 missions) seems to be same. Well ok I do not exactly count battleships but more like keep eye on average isk value per rat killed. That is approx 2000 rats. I have skipped the 'new' missions tho (as I can't afford to lower my opposite faction standings).
I'm just curious as I usually do not loot thus are unable to comment on loot/salvage issue.

Very interesting Carniflex. Please, keep it updated, as I am comparing it with my results looting an salvaging.
When I have a larger database I will put a long post about my result.

How are you saying that missions have been nerfed?

Hope you aren't basing it on loot volumes.
There were changes to loot volume last patch.

Edited by: Wet Ferret on 22/09/2008 13:48:01 Haven't noticed any difference in salvage. Loot seems the same, but, loot was always pretty sporadic and random anyhow.
You'll need to define "better level 4s" since I skip all empire-faction missions. I haven't noticed a difference in ship type/amounts in missions like The Assault, Pirate Invasion etc. No Blockades in awhile but I'm not sweating it... it happens.
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started.

There is less loot per mission after that patch. Of this I have no doubt. Typically pre-patch I would need a hauler about every third or fourth mission to grab what I couldn't carry in my Vargur. I have only had one instance where I used a hauler after the patch.
This can be partially explained on the changes they made to metal scraps. But there is also less loot. |

Not really prof of anything as the change in size for the metal scraps alone can justify the difference.
On the other hand CCP has implemented in July or August (was cited in one of the Dev blogs) an instrument generating random loot for the different kind of missions and rats. Almost certainly they are correcting the NPC drop tables basing the results on what this instrument show (they were citing the absence of items that were supposed to drop, for example).
So while probably there hasn't been a nerf to the loot, a change is possible. Hard to gauge as loot and salvage are always a chance thing.
For sure looking only the size of the loot is not a good indicator.

I definitely seem to be getting more salvage than I used to, particularly in AE4. I used to get between 30 and 40 ATBs from the 6 rooms. In the last 2 weeks, I have had 55, 55 and 70 ATBs. Seems to be a similar increase in the other types of salvage as well, though I have no numbers for those.
As for loot, I seem to be getting roughly the same as always - maybe slightly less - but I seem to get a better quality of item - more items in the 1m+ range.

I'm doing level 3 missions and to be honest I seem to be getting more loot now than before patch. Salvage is about the same.

Apparently I did not make myself clear. I should have specified a few things.
This is in regard to lvl 4 missions from a Caldari agent only.
I am absolutely certain that I am getting less loot. This does not mean that anyone else is getting less, more, or the same.
Based on the loots I am getting I am absolutely certain that the changes to metal scraps are not the only reason I am not filling my cargo as I did before. I know I am getting fewer mods. The most convincing piece of empirical evidence is that each mission I now have fewer wrecks containing loot. Second I count fewer pieces in cargo. Third the cargo volume used by loot has decreased.
In regards to a post about salvage (the broken rig bits). I have noticed an increase roughly the same as other pilot who mentioned it; that is something I have smiled about. |

Maybe CCP just doesn't like you.
All jokes aside, barring the obvious Metal Scraps change, I noticed a difference in the randomness of loot drops. Namely, that it became less random. I went through Blockade L4 against Serpentis a while ago. First time gave me 8 Large Armour Repairers from 25 BS. The second time I got 11.
Could the cause be that the Ship Logs were removed? After all, fewer items in the loot table means more chances of getting the same stuff. |

To rephrase my reply:
- I don't think there as been a general "nerf" of the loot tables;
- in July CCP has implemented a toll to check the loot drops from NPC, instead of doing "guesswork" based on the % on the drop tables for the different NPC. From the Dev blog it will generate hundred or thousand of random missions loots; as there is a growing number of missions where slightly different groups spawn during the mission (so you will not always get the same type and number of NPC) and probably the loot tables have subtables balancing them without this tool was giving some wrong result. Now they are slowly correcting the different tables. So it is highly probable that some mission have seen a change in loot drops while other haven't. As it is not a general change but a change associated with the specific NPC and not done all at the same time CCP has not put it in the patch notes. It is possible we will see a comment in a future Dev blog.

For those interested look here: loot table changes
It is the blog about the empyrean age changes; the third items is about the loot table changes.

That's both interesting and uninteresting at the same time. It's interesting because they took a look at the loot tables, but it's uninteresting because they automated most of the examination. At least they did find something wrong, and fixed it. |

I see it in a different way (BTW: I thin they are still using the tool). CCP is always looking the loot tables, but looking the % chance of a drop from subtable 1-a and then looking the subtable for the % chance of the different items there dropping hardly give a clear image of the results to the human brain.
Generating x (large numbers) dorp and seeing the results give a clearer idea or at least a second system to analyze the situation.
The human brain is always needed, but I think this support tool will help the Developers getting a better feel of what the players are seeing.
