So i have been mission for the last couple of months and have around 700k lp now.
I use my dommi for missioning but was actually wondering today what to do with my lp. Then i saw the navy megathron with 1 more high slot. So my question is this actually worth it and is this ship gonna beat my dommi in missioning?
And if the ship ain't worth the lp, where to spend it on then :) ..?

All megathron variants(tech 1(Kronos got 7) got 8 highslots. The federate issue is however a unique ship with 8 turret hardpoints - which you won't get your hands on for less than 100 bil, give or take.
The navy mega is an excellent ship, but in the end the only thing you should consider in the LP shop is the Isk:Lp ratio. Federate navy is sadly a rather poor one, but there are still decent things to buy. Sadly, you normally don't get them spoonfed since it would ruin the one feeding yous market. Parrots, commence!

it can beat the domi in missions.. but you are going to need ALOT of SP in gunnery to do that..
if you have poor gunnery and nice drone skills.. stick to domi :)
you can buy faction mods for the lp and sell it :) ---------------------------------- Fighting for something Yes... this is my main. Extreme Troll Slayer...

regardless of what you spend the lp on, it's a bad idea to use it on the megathron. You can buy a navy megathron for about 280 mil in contracts, so you'd be better off finding an item that sells for a 1,000ISK per LP profit and just sell those in order to turn your LP into isk rather than using up all your lp on a navy mega.

Not worth using LP on it, but it's a great ship. I alternate between using a Navy Mega and a Dominix for missions. ------------

Edited by: Forge Lag on 23/09/2008 01:02:56 Edited by: Forge Lag on 23/09/2008 01:01:35 It is not bad ship at all (it is damn Mega) but: it's DPS is balanced around it using a) that one 8th high for missile b) full flight of heavies.
Unfortunately for a) it has very limited CPU with rails fitted and for b) you really want at least flight of lights or preferably mediums. Other faction ships have 75 m3 drone bays, assuming 3x heavy which do about the same DPS as 5x mediums. (Drones on BSs are all wrong. They come from the same dev team that came with explosion velocity on missiles and that inveted repositioning windows.)
In the end for missions Navy Mega is down one drone and usually one high vs all other faction ships. Yes kids, even fleet Pest can outperform it. Pest. With artillery. Lol.
Edit: If you do not have T2 sentries Navy Mega with mild pimp and faction ammo will outdo Dominix due to non-existent named/faction drones and drone mods (hi CCP just want to say again you really outdid yourself on drones). T2 sentries will pull Dominix back ahead. Also worth noting is Navy Mega has monstrous buffer so you can go with lighter tank than on Dominix.

so if i read this all correct, my dommi will just out run it on missions for a lot less isk (so lower risk/damage when loosing).
The thing i don't like then though is that for a pve guy the dommi is the ultimate ship to fly in :( As its darn ugly :p

dudes..u are forgetting about more armor HP and one more low slot..
I fly my navy mega for PvP, its excellent ship for buffer tanking (low-grades slaves give me around 65k or armor, thats around 300k EHP) with only t2/faction stuff..

The navy mega has more slots, but you can't fit as good a tank as you can with a domi or a hyperion. The Navy Mega (IMO) is a PvP ship, not a PvE ship, as it can dish out damage easily and buffer tank easily, but it can't active tank while dealing decent damage. The Domi is a tank, you just sit there and let the drones work. The hype is a PvE rail-boat with an active tanking bonus as well as room for 4 heavies.
tl;dr Basically, use your LP for other things. A Navy Mega isn't the best use of LP, and IMO, isn't the best option for PvE either.
