Some of you need to move out of your parents' house and learn some basic etiquette before you anger the wrong person and they kick the crap out of you.

I won't come with any suggestions on how to solve it as I know CCP is capable of tailing a solution that fits them the best. As for using EVE-Search's cache - hosts file, img.eve.is -> EVE-Search IP. And additional third party help. I mean, it's just static data. The avatar images obviously still exist, as loading new ones in-game works. So even if there never was a backup of the server, regenerating the image data from the db (or directly using the db) wouldn't be a problem at all. If the avatars are delivered from a file system as static data (which they probably were, remember, it took quite some time until one's avatar image was available on the forums), then no super fast CPU is needed in the server, just a fast disk array and a high bandwidth connection. So my guess is, the image server is still located in iceland (well, actually was, as we know it burned down together with it's backup storage) and it simply takes ages until a half-decent server is delivered there. ;-)

Yao Gallente Parental Control	Posted - 2008.10.09 11:42:00 - [47] sadly the back up server still uses my old portrait it took me ages to explain through petitions what my problem is,as with the server crash the old portrait came back alive!Cant you guys just inform those who reply to petitions whats going on before they rush to conservative massive replies to our petitions making you feel your talking to freaking aurora?The bug report gave me an instant answer with the same detailed information...Petition system do drive me crazy sometimes really....Lets just hope now that it gets fixed soon.

Its becouse the explorer was acting slowly waiting to load up all the avatars on the page.
