Trinity Nova Alliance	Posted - 2008.09.23 17:43:00 - [1] I've been poking around and while I'm sure there's been other threads, I can't easily find them (but bad search is another issue, which eve-search only partially covers). Anyway, the image server for player avatars has been down for quite a while now. It's also apparently affecting killboards; I know I can't get my avatar image to update because the KB can't load the image, which makes sense. Now, I realize that this is only a minor to moderate annoyance, and doesn't really break the game, but it does slow down loading every forum page and killboard, and frankly, KBs full of red exclamation points are annoying. Can we get an update on 1) what the status is and 2) what the ETA is for a fix to this issue? I know myself and many other forum whorriors would love to hear. Thanks muchly.

Are we looking at an interim solution which will hopefully restore most, but probably not all, of the forum portraits until such time as the main service is restored? Yes. When will the service be restored? SoonÖ. Seriously, we are pushing for a resolution as soon as possible but at this point we just do not have a firm ETA. Sorry.

"Soon" is a lot easier to stomach when it comes in posts like this, thank you. Hopefully dev replies to threads about other game features (graphics updates, ambulation etc) will follow this trend!

If the server is DeadÖ, and they need new hardware to get it working, I can understand that it would potentially take time to make it happen, and that it's not a gamebreaker, so doesn't have a high priority.

Years ago, there was some rant by a purported SWG dev posted anonymously- can't find the link now, sadly. This put me in mind of that. Just to be clear, I was asking only for what I did in the OP, and not casting aspersions on CCP, your parentage, developer ability, or anything. I work in the tech industry and sympathise, I just wanted to find out the story. So thanks for that info, Whisper. ;)

Or worse, haven't started and have only checked out the forums before getting around to signing up. They might wonder if things are dwindling down and falling apart if even avatars on their own site are busted.

Suggests some soft music and a steaming hot bath. I have ran a number of forums. The one thing I learned is that it is impossible to satisfy people. Some just whine to see their words in print. Some discuss issues because they have a serious and honest desire to see something they enjoy improved, and others... others just like to start shit. The hard part is not to let them get under your skin. If you find that they are, then it's time to step back, and unplug from the forums for a while. From the tone of your post I am seeing that you may have reached that frustration threshhold, or be very close to it. As being on the forums is a part/portion of your job, my suggestion would be to find some method to relax and unstress a bit. Remember. Stress kills. Maybe go fishing in the fishtank.... oh wait no fish. Ok, go for a walk and see all the pretty girls running around with their tops barely on... oh wait Iceland... hmmm.... Come to Hawaii, do your work from your computer. Go fishing (no fishing license required), watch the beach bunnies (man there are a LOT of them) and relax some. Stormwind In EVE, your only friend is your ship and it's weapons. All others are the enemy!
