Thanatos Lottery! $10,000,000 tickets!
NOTE: 1 ticket per character (this is automated in the registration)
Q: What?
A: A lottery to be drawn to win a Thanatos.
Q: Where?
A: Registration is in-game and the drawing announcement will be in this thread. A list of player names will be displayed by your name in this thread. Only you will see your ticket number as when the ticket is drawn only the ID number will be drawn, not a name, not the ticket. This will help to keep it as fair as possible. The ticket numbers and names are in separate databases so that when displaying the players that have purchased tickets, the ticket number will be secure. A PHP random number generator is being used to create the ticket numbers so there is no way of pre-programming it.
Q: When?
A: Registration begins now and will end 31 October 2008.
Q: How?
A: An in-game registration form is made available to anyone that wishes to acquire a lottery ticket. You will visit a page in-game, listed below, and register. All you have to do is enter your email address and that, along with populated information, will be sent to a database. You will immediately be assigned a ticket number and it will also be stored in the database. Once you are registered, your ticket is not valid until I receive ticket payment. I will send a payment request in game for the ticket amount. Once your ticket is paid for it will be marked "valid" in the database and it will be included in the drawing. PLEASE DO NOT PAY FOR THE TICKET UNTIL YOU RECEIVE A REQUEST FROM ME.
Q: Why?
A: Because this may be the cheapest Thanatos you ever buy.
Q: How do I know this isn't a scam and that the lottery is secure and the winner will in fact receive their ship?
A: This is NOT a scam. The lottery is secure in that the ticket numbers are only sent to the person that registers and are stored in a database table separate from the user table. The ticket numbers will only be viewed at the time of the drawing and the person drawing the ticket will be drawing the ID number assigned to that ticket. This means when your ticket is drawn, your name and your ticket number are never viewed or known until I am informed of the ID that was drawn. At that time I will match up the ticket ID and name ID to then announce the winner.

Who's drawing the numbers exactly? you? Why not just use the numbers of a national lottery?
No PHP random number generators is purely random. All of them works by taking values from preset slots in RAM or memory and then put them through preset sets of equations.
if the numbers are being drawn by a computer, why would it be unfair to show the ticket number or the char's name? I don't think computer have personal biases.
How many tickets are there and how much each? $10,000,000 tickets could mean each cost 10m or there are 10m tickets. |

If Chribba doesn't have time (we have already spoken about it) then I will allow the random generator to pick one and yes it works nicely.

There are plenty of tickets, more than enough I'm sure. As stated above there must be a minimum of 100 sold or the drawing will not be held. At that time all ISK will be refunded.

Why would it be unfair to show their ticket number and all info as you stated in your original post? You said it without an explanation. How do we know you won't simply give out like a dozen ticket numbers to all 100+ people then have your alts take up the rest of the ticket numbers?

How much is each ticket? There has to be a limited number of tickets depending on how many digits the ticket number has.

Because that is not how I am running this lottery. That's right, as far as you know. I have spoken to Chribba and if he has time he will help but that is an "if".

I did not make the generator I simply used it in my code therefore I do not know the tickets because they are random. You can even refresh the page before you sign up and it generates a new one each time.

a) I don't think anyone needs to know the ticket number except for the person that paid for it, simple as that. b) Because I have worked far too hard and far too long to lie and cheat and get banned losing everything I have worked so hard for. I have an alliance and multiple corporations I run and cannot afford such a demise, nor do I wish to do anyone any unfairness.
I'm not quite sure why I am being drilled by you regarding the inner details of this lottery as the others don't seem to have any issues. By holding this lottery I am actually trying to help some lucky capsuleer win a carrier. I think I have answered plenty of questions and therefore will not be made to feel as if I am defending myself. I will answer any questions anyone has but you've worn out your welcome. Buy a ticket or don't. Fly safe.

My apologies if you feel like my questions are grilling. Simply wanted to know why you are using your method and if it is better/safer.
I see loopholes that could turn it into a more complicated version of "alt wins all" and one that can't be traced either so you can't be found out. And even if you are, you wont get banned, simply distrusted.

Well that makes sense Jane and I apologize if I came across a bit like a codger. At any rate I have no ill intentions here except to give away a Thanatos to some lucky winner. I honestly want to give this thing away and hope the winner can fly it or maybe sell it and enjoy Eve regardless of what they do with it.

So if i read corectly there is a minimum of 100 tickets and no maximum number specified. 100x10 mil =1 bil isk => means profit.

I don't see this lottery happening. End of the time to sell 50 tickets is tomorrow night and we are a long ways off so when I get home from work tomorrow night if I have not sold all 50 tickets, those listed above that have purchased tickets will be refunded.
