I'm calling for a ccp to push the reset button on the csm elections, my reasoning for this is: Not only has CCP decided to (At my last check) totally remove The Mittani from the csm, certain other csm members have shown what they truely feel, and that's something i no longer want on the csm, mittens got two of my votes, and as he also got the most votes, by a good 10 thousand i believe, i feel one of two things should happen.
Either, alex (the mittani) should be given his seat back on the CSM, doesnt need to be as chairman however he earned his place on the council and one silly drunken act shouldnt affect his csm seat this seriously, you're also harming and annoying the playerbase with this by making votes effectivly useless
or there should be a total reset of the council, starting from the post-elections where each account had one vote on the actual seats, in which the mattani should be given the chance to be re-elected as a csm member, if thats what the playerbase choose, thats what happens.
CCP has upset a number of people with this, and not everyone is going to be happy no matter the outcome, however lets not go back to jita riots, because i can honestly say the knock-on effect this is going to have will make jita riots looks like a playground tantrum compaired to what this could cause
thank you for putting up with my horrible spelling and grammar, and i hope to see the peoples thoughts and opinions on this matter
Thank you |

This may be WAY too soon. But... No one called for a new vote when kennedy was shot and his VP took office. I dont think we need a rovote here. The man had his chance and blew it on alcohol and cigars. Tough luck for everyone who voted for him.

No ones votes were wasted. Mittens was in fact elected to the CSM and the chair...and then he screwed up.
He's the ONLY person any of you "I CAN HAZ RELECTION?" people should be mad at.

All of you idiots comparing it to real life politics are conveniently ignoring the fact an impeached (or dead) president has someone take his place from his own party who covers the voters interest. Does this mean The Mittani will be able to name someone who'll take his place? |

Fully supported.
Seriously though, I do agree that there needs to be a re-vote. A lot of voters are feeling extremely disenfranchised right now. Throw them a bone. Allow a vote for the new CSM chairman at the very least, although I honestly do think the entire election has been invalidated at this point.
And since we're all inevitably comparing it to real life politics anyway, note the highly disparate views of the candidates in the CSM versus the relatively harmonized views of party members in real elections.
A better real-life analogy for what's happened here would be having the Republicans elected as a slight majority in the house/senate, then a Republican president gets impeached, and so it is decided that as a result the entire Republican party is banned. Then what happens is all the Republican seats will be given to the Democrats, and all the Democrats old seats will be given to the Green Party. How do you like that?
You can't just go down the list like that and promote the next person, it's asinine. It's even more asinine when you take the vote totals into consideration, which you must. Replacing someone who got 10,000 votes with someone who got less than half that, maybe less than a quarter of that, is incredibly unfair and will completely destroy the legitimacy of the CSM.
We just got finished with a highly successful expansion, and now CCP is in danger of dismantling the very system that made that happen while simultaneously alienating 10,000 of their most vocal players. Must we always be in a situation of one step forward, one step back? (no pun intended, Two step) |

its not like the csm has fully been installed and started up yet, i mean the forum still have the old csm's with the tags and the new ones without, there was and is even still some people in iceland from fanfest, my point is the CSM has barely (if at all) started, and already a major part of it has been blown, this is turning the forums into something like the microtransactions again, only this time there are two camps.

uh, game or no game this is politics. God forbid anyone get hit by a truck who is on CMS, but surely there is a procedure when someone leaves their chair.
EVE players are not required or very interested in holding a new election because a leader shot himself in the foot and his followers want some special consideration.
I repeat my observation...the alliance presentation was done as game drama and not as a real life discussion.
He took the game into fanfest, where no one was online playing the game, and he showed the frenzy as if he was in the game.
The suicide concept clearly leaked from game to RL and this is a HUGE concern in the world generally as we are kinda new to dealing with each other online. Some of the trends melting back and forth can get pretty grim.
I congratulate CCP for doing a really tough thing, and I like the comparison they made. No more fraternity house presentations to the world. It's time to grow up a bit.
Being violent and sadistic and drunk at a fanfest presentation does not require a new election; just an adjustment. The presentation passed the review beforehand, but the editorial remarks were mindless but meant. I can see by the forums that people really don't understand what happened.
We need a course correction, but a new election? That is wrong on many levels, not to mention throwing gasoline on the fire that was lit.

I can pretty much guarantee that any Re-Vote would mean even more total votes for The Mittani.
While what he did was to be frowned upon, if you cannot see the good he did for EVE over the last year alone, the way he leads his alliance and their style of gameplay which is 100% within the limits of the game, and the fact that he has to balance 3 different "people" in the mix of things, (which I dare 99% of EVE players to try and do without making a mistake covered by so many eyes looking only for that split in the armor) then you really have no idea what really goes on within the Culture of EVE, real life, and within such a unique alliance.
I don't have the sleep to go into detail right now, but overall when CSM8 comes around, and Alex is allowed to run again. I can pretty much guarantee he will be back in the Hot Seat and we will be back here seeing the players come out of the wood work to start a riot once again about matters they do not fully understand.
The one thing that would be cool is to see some of the CSM7 really step up and continue with what Alex started. Time will tell here.
The Mittani, take a break, enjoy some CEO time and wrecking havoc as per usual, and be prepared for what may lay ahead next year. I feel it may be even more substantial than holding a seat this year...

All you idoits who keep bringing in a real life impeachment seem to forget that the impeachment process is a democratic process.
The offending party is VOTED out of his position.
There was no vote and there was no impeachment.
In fact with the exception of the **** smoker darius, most of the CSM members were satisfied with him stepping down as chair and continuing to serve on the CSM
I would suspect that if there was a new election today after the events at fanfest. Mittens would still have enough support to hold a seat on the CSM, if not remain chairperson.
This was nothing more than a vocal minority who already had pre-existing reasons to hate Mittens, using the incident as an excuse to raise hell and exploit a few media outlets to further their own agenda.
The only result of the entire debacle is that Jita will burn and eve-online gets an even more bloodthirsty and brutal Goonswarm.

more bullying. TBH, I had to check myself. It seems pretty easy to role play your badass EvE personna into real life. I'm kinda tripping on that. Anyone could have done that, but it was still stupid.
Why would you say...All you idoits (that's idiots, fyi)?
Why do you even think that?
It's like you're in some kind of cult while the rest of us still want to be in a broader EVE culture that includes you and me.
I would like to think I would say, "Oh wow, we pushed everyone over the edge. Let's stfu and take it. You win some you lose some" but I'm seeing all the hatred and personal attacks that are the heart and soul of seriously insecure people.
Who are you calling idiots?

The white paper outlines how to deal with this.
There will not and should not be a revote.
After the new CSM is properly seated, the council will vote to elect a new Chairman from within its ranks as well as the other offices.
Several members have been endorsed by none other than The Mittani as good stewards of the CSM that will not "**** over" null.
Just give it a rest and let life go on, will ya? Work on your wars and Jita interdiction preparations or whatever is important to you.

It's a frikkin' advisory council. There are 14-1=13 members left to give advice. Sure, CCP does need a lot of advice, but with those numbers I think the council can still divvy up the work and function.
And they still have mittens' phone number. So if the council decides they absolutely can't function on some issue without Mittani's unique brand of wisdom, they can still consult him and incorporate his advice into their advisory role.
The rules for dropping a member of the CSM were laid down before, have been applied before, and were not thought important enough to merit a change until now.
In a democracy (pretending for a moment that Eve resembles such a thing), you stick to the rules unless there is a democratic choice to change the rules. So you can make it an election issue next time around, or you can call for a referendum on whether the rules should be changed. But you can't make up the rules ad-hoc as you go along. |

I find your attempt to intimidate players when you do not get what you want amusing. The Mittani blew it. He admitted as much himself. CCP banned him not the CSM. The Goon army needs to get over it and yes, burn Jita. Get on with the game. I am sure that the ice mining population could use a good culling before the spring mating season, but stop this endless hemorrhaging of what was once a grand alliance name to petty whining and public displays of entitlement. It was a great plan, it succeeded, over ten thousand votes and then your guy fumbled on the goal line. Get back up, dust off and get ready for next year. |
