Does this happen anymore?
When I've fought 1 to 1 I've come off fairly well but it is in my experience a rare event. The only 1 to 1 I now get is when I agress a can flipper or similar.
Even if you are on the winning end of a 1 to 1 reinforcements can be called in from both sides particulary if 2 tanked ships are slugging it out & does anybody in these fights ever say ".....I'll take him alone"-I think not so you still end up with a gank feast
So no-I don't think there are any Eve "Knights in shining armor" left.
My point is that this is a shame as you never really get a chance to test your tank or weapons properly as you are assaulted by at least 6 ships & invariably bow to the inevitable pod.

there is a guy that roams around some cald lowsec, or at least did before FW, calling himself an anti-pirate.
he would look for and engage those ebil pirates who gank people in belts. i've had a few good fights out of him
cant remember his name, nor which systems they were, but if you look hard enough, the fights can still be found.
also, there is nothing more fun than beating down 1 ship after another when they come to gank you when they don't really know what they are doing and all warp in at different times

6 ships versus 1 ship-where's the fun in that-or don't we play for fun anymore?

The fun is escaping, getting a gang and coming back to kick their ass. ---

Actually, 6 v 1 is pretty awesome. Especially if the 1 is in something expensive

I've played the role of "pirate", "empire griefer" but for me its all about survival. I would engage ppl 1 on 1 in lowsec, but only if I had a good chance of winning/escaping.
Sure I once tried to engage a Drake in my Vexor, it was awefully close to a victory tbh.
Sometimes its worth it othertimes its not.
In the end, its about winning, since losing sucks.

Still seem to find 1v1's despite all this forum outrage at the death of solo pvp.
Also, on your can flipping comment, I come to expect anyone who takes from my can to have some kind of support ready and waiting. I have lost my fair share of ships, but when you sit there can flipping outside with no backup taking on any number of ships at once, you soon earn respect; and unexpected RR. Generally though, if someone convo's an arranged 1v1 most people honor it, depending on the stakes. Even the most untrustworthy ones still only want a gf - there are exceptions of course, but thats down to gut instinct/common sense.
Besides, what is better than a 1v1 that turns into a multiple corp RR 3v5v2vx head fart fest.
It really is a case of get out there and try harder. You should expect droughts in solo pvp the same way it used to be when seeing noone in low sec local was just part of the job. Take time, thought, and intelligence when picking a fight in low sec... you will experience droughts, windfalls, and that elusive gf =p

if someone wants a 1v1 with you,
and you dont have backup nearby, let them steal from your can and you shoot them, that way your not flagged to his entire corp. if his buddies shoot you, theyll be concorded. ------

1v1 was never very useful outside of combat demonstrations and basic training. An experienced fighter will always seek to have numbers on their side. Oh and the ability to reflect light was never the important thing about a Knight's armour -- (Sarcastic mission running veteran, 4+ years)

It is very rare that 1v1 happen when both sides know what the other one is up to, ie. a "fair" fight. The 1v1 happening now are luring the other one into a fight he wouldnt wonna engage in.
May it be a baiting, or catching someone etc.
Id also suggest to not accept 1v1 offers, i personnaly have completely given up on them, in the early days ppl were outcasted by corps for disrespecting 1v1s - today you get a mere "meh" on the forums as an answer. -

(1) Try SiSi
(2) What could be a more "proper" test than actual combat? Fitting is important but it's only one aspect of fighting.

There is no point doing a 1v1 because then there is the chance you will lose. Fight outnumbered or don't fight at all.

I only ever PVP in EVE if its 1v1, 2v2 etc.
Safe to say I don't PVP much. Mainly because I doss around in Empire, and PVP is only ever for amusement, unlike in 0.0 where its a method of survival.

1:1 duels, who cares, pointless and most likely a trap.
Unconsensual 1:1, sure they happen. You just got to enforce them on people and sometimes settle for 1:more :)
If you want them YOU gotta make it happen and not be in a gang and whinge about no 1:1s :) |
