This forum is described as a place to:
"Create new corporations and organizations, announce community service or advertise your news, fan or corporation site"
Unfortunately, all we see in this forum nowadays is a lot of smacktalk, bullcrap, kill lists, and another annoying crap which always always always results in a free-for-all flamefest.
I thought it was fun to flame and "stir things up" but it's getting beyond a joke now.
The only types of thread which should be in this forum are:
- Announcements of a new corporation - Announcements of a new alliance - Announcements of a new corporate identity/direction - All other things related to fan sites/corporation sites
If these rules are broken, just ban people.
Pot > Kettle, I know, but certain people are taking things WAY too seriously and there needs to be a line drawn.

There needs to be another In Character Corp and Org and Alliance politics and discussion forum really.
The mix and IC and OOC stuff here is what makes it bad.

Given this post doesn't Follow any of the rules that he has laid down for acceptable posts in this forum can Joshua Calvert be "just banned?"

I disagree with you there. I believe the Intergalactic summit represents one area of roleplayed interaction sure, but I believe there is a need for a specifically IC corporation and alliance and big politics forum covered by the same IC only rules. I would like to see coverage of the alliance wars and corporate disputes on a forum designed for the purpose. To be honest, its what this one should be. All we need is a separate IC/OOC non trollable recruitment forum. And an entirely IC corp and allaince and conflict forum.
The Intergalactic Summit is a little too personal and removed from the serious alliance conflicts that go on. It does tend to get used for reflective and self conscious high brow roleplay stuff (which is fine) but what is lacking on these forums overall is a place to have a hardcore IC only political discussion where resort to ooc insults and personal threats and out of game flaming is barred.
And I speak from experience on this. One of the reasons I personally moved from the IG summit to the Corp and Org forum was during the taggart war I received complaints from the ordinary posters in IG summit that the big alliance stuff was damaging their enjoyment of the slow paced and personal IG summit setting. They literally didn't want big threads and full tilt political discussion there.
I have also been told (on several occassions) that IG summit is for empire and racial roleplaying. And that people are not interested in discussion of the player led alliances there.
Hence I disagree with your statement that the IG summit is an approprate place for full tilt player led conflict discussion. I believe we need something else, and that something else should be a fully moderated IC version of corps and orgs, or perhaps an entirely new board called:
"Conflict and Propaganda"
For specifically IC discussion of wars and propaganda material.

I'd have to agree.
Over the last 6 months (duration will depend on your own 'thresshold' ofc) or so this forum has slowly degenerated.
Either more heavy handed moderation - or a new forum as proposed is needed.
I honestly dont see a new forum beeing anymore successfull, without some heavy handed moderation. As such - We might as well just keep this forum, but with some 'stricter' guidelines for what can be posted (and a consequent moderation to follow it up.)
In the 'past' I myself used to post rather frequently on matters BIG and small relating to corps/alliances and the involved 'politics', but have 'given up' on this, due to the 'tone' that have evolved.
It has become near impossible to have any *meaningfull* exchange of ideas and views, without it turning into a 'anger contest' - So why even bother... BIG Lottery

Every one get ur screen shots ready..For the 1st time on forums...Your 100% right..
ISD lock threads that some times shouldnt, over lock most,it seems they have a personal taste of what to lock or whom is posting them.
I would be all for posting about whats going on in venal,or whos doing what,But the post would just get flamed.I knw alot of people who do like to talk about thats goin on can only do so ingame as these forums are out of control.Big shame...
Flaming back will only prove me right.Keep it nice if you wish to reply _____________

Yep new forum needed as this one is full of all the same people flaming each other over all the same things again and again and again
Apart from the fact it's mind numbingly boring it is impossible (or close to it) for anyone to find a new corp or vice versa.

Easy boys and girls, no need to flame the mods.
Actually, the community has outgrown this forum, there were actually plans to do some changes tomorrow (monday).
But, since everyone and their mother seems to have an opinion, please email your suggestions to [email protected], I'll wait a day or two more for these changes to see if anyone happens to have a better idea.
So, email us your ideas asap! This is your chance to tell us how you think it should be.

When a corporation decides to murder someone, ally with someone or anything similar, they post two posts: One in the intergalactic summit, that contains a glorified version written by someone with a dictionary at hand or more journalism classes than is healthy for any one person, and one post in OCG that contain the real reasons and the actual statement.
The OGC always has been the place for arguments between corporations. The IGS was added close to release, but OGC is, was and will be the alpha and omega of bulletin board political and diplomatic relations.
