My Eve also crashes at random leading to the hated Driver not responding message and the eventual computer reboot cause nothing else works.
My specs:
SLI Xfx 8800 GTX
6Gigs ram
Vista64 HP
Driver 178.24
Im having this issue with several other games too, but much less infrequent and in some cases only involves me alt tabbing the game

I put anything i could to application controlled in the Nvidia control panel, I haven't gotten the driver not responding error yet and i have been pushing even with 2 accounts alt tabbing back and forth, docking undocking jumping etc. But this morning I got a blue screen (too fast to see what it says) and it immediatly proceeded to restart my computer. First time it happened when i started the second copy of eve, but then it happened while i just opened Vlc while having one eve client running.

Scrap that, after about 4-5 hours of no errors i decided to start my second eve client, shortly after the dreaded Driver stopped working message popped up with all its features( reboot etc)
Thats with the latest driver at this time, 178.24

Once my second eve client reaches character selection it freezes up the computer and forces a reboot. This is both clients being run in windowed mode
