You should have just kept doing the mission. even if they steal and salvage, they are not allowed to touch mission objective cans. (in fact if they try to ransom or steal yor necessary mission items, petition them. you'll get it back and they'll probably get a day long ban.)
High sec mission probing isn't a problem as long as you stay smart. However, if there is some rep chain exploit, that needs to be fixed. (I don't care how legit it is in the eyes of players, the rules are clear on it, and if there is some loophole, it needs to get fixed.)

Ok heres the skinny of my testing of this trick, since ccp never bothered to respond to me (still waiting). last few days I've been can fliping and picking targets in my crow, today I managed to snag a hurricane with my crow, down fall knowing full well there was nothing i could do but hold him. While I kept him busy i started srambling a cheap vexor for my alt and made my way to system remote rep in hand ready to test. Rep'd my crow even thou had no need uhhh nothing no auto aggres, so figuring i must be flaged i went and made that vexor a tasty treat and parked it next to the cane. wala he fired bait taken t2 orges deployed by the way only 3 on a vexor suck miss pre drone nerf fun. pop gose one hurricane then a friend of his  2 mins after none the less that though my crow was killable he learned the hard way.
So in short the way i figure is the drones must have aggro'd something, as remote reping alone wont do it but clearly gets you flaged and makes it look like your involved. I still wounder if this is a exploit but since CCP has FAILED TO RESPOND EITHER HERE OR VIA PETITIONS!! I figure i might as well enjoy the new trick for what it is..
thanks to those that attempted to answer the question in this op, and for those just trolling I LOL'D alot popcorn in hand..
P.S. to the huricane pilot I told you, you should pay the 15 mil ransom before I got bigger gunns involved

also, if you mission was in deadspace, concord does nothing there. am i right?
if that is tru, all the a, b and who shoot who means nothing pretty much. every punk for himself.
