Hello, me again.
I have some minor issues using my Ti4400 with Det.44.03 drivers.
Around stations I get a glistening effect which makes them shimmer and look distorted. I have left anti-alaising off as it may slow my computer down..Has anybody else had this issue?
Thanks in advance.

I get the same on my Ti4200.
Looks like its a Z-buffer issue on overlapping textures/objects....
Probably a driver related thing - and yeah - it looks a bit funny sometimes....but I don't think there is much that can be done about it...... ------------------------ "The direct use of force is such a poor solution to any problem, it is generally employed only by small children and large nations." ------------------------ |

I was with you all up to Z-buffer then I got confused..It does indeed look like something that cant be fixed, though its not due to our NVidia set-up, I notice people with ATi9800 have the same problem.
I suppose we could just call it a heat haze and forget about it....

the z-buffer is a image that keps controll over what deapth a polygons-pixel is in seen from the screen.. when a world has such huge distances as in eve the z-buffer gets to unpresize. that does the flickering effect.
it cant really be solved... :/

Yea it can be fixed... make sure the video card you buy or using has a true 32-bit z-buffer. My video card uses part of my 32-bit z-buffer in storing alpha (8 bits i think). Therefore my z-buffer is only really working to 24-bits. So yea I have the same problem with distant textures in Eve.

Thanks all for your replies, I will check out the control pannel of my card and see what happens!!
Though really its only a minor problem so I'm sure I can get on with it..It effects me in a couple of other games anyway so I dont think its an Eve only issue.
Cheers.
