Hello, I am a bit new (playing about a month) and I have a few questions for you guys.
I have just recently started flying my first Cruiser, a Rupture. I am shield tanking it which is clearly not what it was intended for but I am finding it to be gloriously successful. I should state that I am purely PVE and running lvl II missions. At some point I intend to PVP but for now I am having a blast so it can wait. From what I gather, when I decide to pvp I will surely have to armor tank, this I presume is to make room for a webber and scrambler.
In any event, this post is more about pve and my question is where is the catch here? I was running with artillery at first with success but last night switched to AC's and OMG, I am slaughtering anything within 10km! I ran Human Cattle 1/5 - 4/5 last night without having to warp out as my shield never got below 60%, I am going to run 5/5 tonight.
Here is my setup right now, EFT has me at 178 DPS and though I can not confirm or deny that number the results so far are as I said earlier, GREAT! Can someone comment on the setup below and either burst my bubble or perhaps validate my choices so far...
Thanks in advance! (Oh, and this is my first post so take it easy on me! )
LOW SLOTS 2x Type-D Power Core Modification-Shield power relay 2x Gyrostabs 1x RCU I
MED SLOTS 1x Named Invulnerability Field 2x Named Large shield extenders
HIGH SLOTS 4x 425mm Medium Scout Autocannon I 2x XT-2800 Heavy Assault Missile Laucher I |

Heathen!!!
What can I say, if it works for you doing lvl2s, then keep using it. Your dps feels low, without checking any numbers its been awhile since I used t1 turrets so keep working on them skills.

It's a really good ship for level II's. I used it alot and with similar enthusiasm with regards to mission success/ease. I ran into serious issues when I moved up to III's though and had to train BC's.
Got my BS last week and it handles level III missions the same way a Rupture handles level II's. So be thinking forward on your training. You won't spend much more time on II's (especially when you get a taste of the level III loot...) and training for BS's is a little long. Battleships are very expensive for someone with a level II wallet... So save your iskies :P Have fun!

s take to long to do level 3 mission if your running minne and level 3 agents use the cane a lot faster
and for the setup if it work don't need to fix it just get yoru learning skill inline and keep train stuff to make your ship better like gunny but first your tank |

Agreed. Some missions you can get away with no AB but if there are gates involved, well your isk per hour will drop hugely.

Against Angel Cartel NPC, shield tanking is great, but against some other NPCs (which do EMP damage) an armor tank is better.

Edited by: Megan Maynard on 30/09/2008 17:00:59 HAHAHA, I love it when new minny players discover how truly evil the rupture is.
ITZ LIKE OMGZWTFPWNSAUZ!
And some lvl 3's are possible in the ruppy. |

If you have found the Ruppy to be this awesome for running missions, just wait till you start PVPing in it...normally you will need to run an armor tank, there is also the option to speed tank it and get those NAV skills up. With a Large sheild extender buffer and barrage the ruppy can easily touch things at 20km, anything that falls inside your range cruiser sized will make tasty fun. |

This!
Me too, tbh I was afraid to go without it ESPECIALLY since I need to stay relatively close to melt things with my AC's. But so far it hasn't been a problem, I seem able to catch things (ableit slowly) that don't want to be close to me (which isn't many so far).
If the fear is only an isk/hour thing then I am comfortable keeping things as is, if it's a survival thing I obviously have some reservations...
Thanks so far for the comments from a pleasantly pleased Ruppy driver!

I know this is the ultimate destination for me, I just don't have the skills yet. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something extremely important while I train.
